Yep, time, money and skill and all three in bulk, it seems the rust is more of a problem than the fire damaged panels but it’s all fixable with those three components. The one next to it will no doubt be giving up a lot of its parts to save its neighbour.
Looking at everything else around it there is no hope that this owner will ever restore it, one of those I'll get to it one day blokes. Such a shame people like that have these treasures. And yes, it is 100% restoreable. Seen vehicles that were basically unrecognisable rust piles put back on the road. As far as bodywork that's a a fairly simple one

Parts are plentiful for XYs nowadays , being a GTHO it’s worth doing if you have the skills to save money or otherwise a big bank balance . 41 of 300 it’s worth a second chance in life I reckon even it most of it won’t be original parts
It can definetly be restored but does the current owner have the money or intention. If not it would be nice to sell it on to someone who can and will. Sadly there are cars like this where the owners simply won't let them go and the car just gets left to rot. Hi yes they will be getting it done and done properly in the future, the car beside it will be giving up all its original gt parts to help revive the HO. Thanks for watching.
Well if you spent 300k on it to get it back to as new you could justify a very substantial amount for the purchase even as it is. However it’s not being sold instead it will get the resto it deserves.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide Yeah, rusty pile in a farmers yard. One of the Gunna Gunna tribe. How often have we seen cars worth saving not having the decency of even a coupla sheets of corrugated, Soon enough it will be a pile of dust. Just look at the car next to it. What's in a ,man's mind?
Yes it happens many times I agree, watch some of my other videos to see just how many cars are rotting in paddocks. I have full faith in this one finally getting a fresh life in the future though.
As a lot of the cars back then the tag was removed for safe keeping, it is clearly visible where the shock tower number is that there’s never been any modifications, the engine number has never been tampered with and there’s no other break in ownership etc. it’s definitely the real deal
So the compliance plate would have been melted in fire because it was aluminum. It can be rebuilt. Just get Rebel from Running on Empty onto it. He has motor magic.
Yes it could be restored but I wouldn't, I repaired a hk Bathurst monaro in similar shape for a chap a long time ago and would never do another burnt car to this state again, the issue is all the damage was done when the roof was crushed while hot which in turn means the whole lot is bent and the metal is seriously compromised, now if it wasn't squashed and just a burnt she'll without the damage then it would be more worth it, just pull it into shape and clean out all the dirt and crap and seal it up the way it looks 😊
The roof was actually bent with a front end loader after the fire, it was taken back out to the farm and loaded/unloaded with a front end loader and for some reason ended up squashed like that. So I’m that sense that part is nothing a replaced roof structure won’t fix. As you know a lot of work and patience but will be worth it in the end to see it driving again.
Still a completely burnt shell and not suitable as a street registered resto, a resto as a show piece or as a museum item yes but this extent of heat put into the metal definitely changes it's strength and pliability, it makes it worse if the car was red hot and then sprayed with cold water from fire fighters, one part a lot of people don't realize is most totally burnt cars there floor pans buckle up as well
From what I’ve seen over the years if it’s got paint still on it you can fix it, this still had most of its lower paint until left outside for 40 years. Time will tell once all the outer skin is removed and the skeleton is unpicked where needed to see how bad it is I think.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide yeah ide be interested to see how far back it gets stripped, if the floor pan is straight and firewall straight then it's doable but so much work, what I can't understand is why it's sitting outside
Bit of time and research could locate where it is with Google earth view , the give away is just map the railway lines as can clearly hear the train horn close by
I thought it was going to be another which I have seen , which was stolen back in the 70's. It was hidden a dam, full of water and the person responsible carried the cowl tag around in his wallet. I saw it back in 1992 ,still in the dam but in pretty much the same state as this one. The White car next to it threw me a bit as there was also a white GT in the same town as the drowned one. Back in those days Cockies were still making good money and the GT's were a popular car amongst their young'uns. .
Yes that would be a very easy way to build a replica with phase 3 driveline but it would always be just a replica. Or you can do the massive and expensive task of fixing this one so that it’s still a matching numbers genuine article.

Yes indeed, it will be done.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide did part of the building collapse on it crushing the roof and back door?
Front end loader bucket I believe whilst moving it to farm
Might be a good promotional restore for a quality shop....sitting next to a donor car already
Certainly would be.
Is the owner intending to either restore or sell? Or just leave it there to keep rusting?
It will be restored, and documented along the way.
I gather the white one is there for the donor roof and radiator support, floor pans, worth saving anyways as ford don't sell em anymore....😅
White one is more for all the small bits, bolts nuts etc. another shell will give up its roof etc
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide glad to hear that, cheers 👍
Perfect parts car nxt to it
Definitely 👍🏻
I would definitely restore it,cheers slim
Yes I agree it is repairable but the cost would be in excess of 300 k . Parts alone before body work and paint, all I’ll say is good luck
Yes I reckon it’ll be in that ball park figure. Thanks for watching
thats beyond repair
I’d be up for it…. If I could afford what they would want for the burnt out rusty shell.
More than just a shell, still has full numbers matching driveline. It’s definitely fixable and will get done .
A trip to Rare Spares and she's as good as new.
Time skill and money will get things done , thanks for watching.
are the vin plates with the car or are they gone
Still useable. Plus with an un-modified shock tower and a numbers matching driveline it’s still very salvageable.
That will buff out easy enough
Ha ha, I look forward to seeing it happening when it is rebuilt though .
It's sad to see such cars rotting away.
Yes indeed. Thanks for watching
Someone would give it a go, and still get their money back when finished !!
For sure and it’s going to happen, will be great to see the process of the build. Mammoth but rewarding task for sure.
Bit of time and research could locate where it is with Google earth view , the give away is just map the railway lines as can clearly hear the train horn close by
Can do that with anything if really needed to.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide the train horn definatly narrows down the search area
Back in those days Cockies were still making good money and the GT's were a popular car amongst their young'uns. .
Wow, what town if I may ask ? I heard of one in a dam but never knew how true it was.
What a shame it will probably never see the road again
Time will tell.
That one might be a bridge too far
Nah I reckon anything is fixable with time and skill.
Considering they’re getting big money 1mil plus I would try fixing and I’m just a carpenter!
Yes they are definitely up there in value these days . Thanks for watching
IF rebuilding it?? almost would be better to start with a better body shell, this one is pretty rough, shame!!
Yes that would be a very easy way to build a replica with phase 3 driveline but it would always be just a replica. Or you can do the massive and expensive task of fixing this one so that it’s still a matching numbers genuine article.
A good fixer upper, nothing is impossible, just remember the impossible we can do it,s the miracles that take time👍👍👍😁🇦🇺
Exactly right.
Ok whats with the white xy next too it ? Not being smart
It’s a replica that is loaded with genuine gear .
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide get it out of the weather !! pls
Make a great project car. If you took the project on you would need a shed big enough to strip it back an rebuild everything.
It sure will, the owner has the skills required to rebuild it properly but is always busy building other peoples cars instead…
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide he should rebulid how much a genuine GT phase 3 sell for half a million. An the rest.
RIP , it's rooted
Thanks for watching ✌🏻
300 phase 3 built…..only 500,785 currently available.
Ha ha, this is why the registery books are so important.
Still quite straight other than the roof panel.. acid dip and primer and ur good to go
lol, rust is CANCER . This is burnt twisted rusted to the bine marrow , Rust never leaves . There is nothing to work with
What a shame, would be good to see the white one next to it stored under cover. Not to mention a few of the other cars there.
Yes , that gives you an idea of how good anything undercover must be.
The compliance plates are probably melted .
If you can access a copy of the GTHO register by Ross Vasse you will be able to read about its plate and authenticity as a “first batch” phase three.
Mate if the numbers are there it's worth the repair. Even if it costs 100 grand to restore it's gonna be worth 5 X that. Go for it mate
All numbers still match and I’d at least double that budget to do it right. Will be great to see it done.
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide even at 200k it's still worth it brother ❤️💪
Definitely
definitely the best looking two-owner low km car I've seen
Ha ha yep, funnily enough that’s exactly what it is.
🤯 good video Bloke , but geez it could of been a trailer for the movie christine.. i think that old classic creepy ford should be left out in the open where it wants to be, and the crows reckon so to, wtf 😂🤣
Ha ha yeah the birds were having a comment or two… glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide haha, i did enjoy it, and just goes to show why ive always said. Fuckin firds. Why own one when you can own a nice trusty non creepy Holden 🙏😂
Looks like the Gazard brothers got to it!
Yep, 3 apes in a holden….

Yes indeed.
Wow just wow
Is it for sale ?????
No sorry mate it’s not, it will actually be getting restored in future.
Amazing
