Just as soon as you opened that door. Brought me back to my childhood. My old man had one just like it 💯🙆👍. Thankx for the ride along Randy 🎬🚘🔥🤘. Salute 😎
Glad you enjoyed it
You should find an old Chevy Luv pickup or even an S10 or S15 and put that 5.0 in it. Rescue an old Crusher from the junkyard and give it new life and a Fresh coat of paint and would probably be great video content
I love adding more power, but man it's hard to see this clean of a car be worked up. I'd detail the exterior and see how it looks there, it looks really nice I don't think a Maaco job would improve it. My dad had an all original 84 SS that he sold, a few years later (2015 ish) I found it for sale with a similar engine/trans combo as the one you're swapping in. Cool to see, but sad to see at the same time.
My opinion no matter how clean it is that 5.0 is gutless so adding that engine is perfect and will fit the car alot better and make that ss mean something.
Love those Monte Carlos, my uncle bought a brand new one of those in 87 same color combo and then sold it in 1999. Yep, he regretted it, but at the time no one knew they would be classics. Looking forward to this build.
Always loved the Monte Carlo❤ bought a 2001 SS new and I really enjoyed the rig....not the fastest, but I end up putting 60,000 miles with no problems
Not even close to the same car. By that time. They were all fwd v6 wannabees. These old g-bodys were a beautiful beast of an car.
You got premium gas which is usually better than Gumout for cleaning the fuel lines and carb of junk. Seafoam "down the pipes" per VGG will get it done. Can't wait to see that stroker and built trans going in. Going to be a great powertour rig.
Especially Sunoco 93. That is what I would do with my vehicles after a oil change would fill up.with Sunoco 93 and run it till nearly empty and then refuel with whatever the requirements called for. 😊
Nice Too See Ya Getting The Monte A Upgrade Well Needed.
My first car was a black 87 with t tops. I was 17 years old and my brother had just passed away, I bought it off his best friend who used to race my brother's new 96 Camaro. It got stolen in Logan Square Chicago about a year later. Broke my heart. I'm 45 years old now and I'll always have a sweet spot for the Monty.
Hey Randy, that really does look like a comfy car! Looking forward to see in how it with the new engine and the paint job! I see you just jumped. Another couple thousand subscribers are now at 435,000! congratulations I’ll be along for the ride. Expect to see you hit the million mark someday! I’ll be hitting that thumbs button, every step of the way! You are the best automotive channel on, RUclips, in my opinion! Never miss an episode!
I appreciate you!
IMO - if your going to maaco this car I would take it there after you pull the engine and transmission so you can get the engine bay sprayed as well.
The title almost got me 😂I’m so excited due the new projects! I hope MWM and Santa helps you! Keep it up randy!!!!
Hey Randy, I just saw today’s video you do a awesome job of whatever you do so just keep the contact come in man and I can’t wait to see the transformation on this car that you got planned on putting a brand new engine in so can’t wait to see your next video on this car. Talk to you later man
Here in Canada, those old 80s Montes and Firebirds are getting so scarce...its like a small cult of classic car owners here, its so incredibly rare to see a classic in our area just out for a drive and not just sitting at a car show. Prices are just waaaaay too high here up north.
Keep the original engine with the car? But crated? So the car can be brought back to original?
The package for the arriving motor can be re-used to crate the old motor? Thus adding value for the next owner?
Wow brother! Really that year of Monte Carlo SS! Looking forward to the restore videos of this car!
Glad to see you loving these old car. Have a couple myself and bought a 2008 Buick Lacrosse with the v8. Fun car to drive. Not super fast but, quick enough.
This is the car I am most excited about see get finished on your channel right now.
I’ve had three of this era Monte Carlo SS…the two that were entirely original were worth much more than the one I bought with a replacement motor…the replacement was a 350 built crate motor…the originals ran much better…. It’s getting rare that you see one of these that hasn’t been altered …my first SS was a twin to this one…wish i still had it
I see you still have the little red fox body Randy....thats awesome brother....love that little car....thats a 10 thousand dollar car all day long....I really hope you keep her....thats my favorite ride on ur channel so far....have a great day..an keep those videos coming...
a 5.0 is not a bad engine i have that engine in my 4x4 chevy truck and it does what it should it gives the pulling power it needs and all no problems running or anything
That's the same Monte Carlo SS that was in the movie, "I Come In Peace" that car has the same color and everything. These are one of my favorite classic.
The 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour is June 10-14 and if you want to Vintage Air has a kit for the 1978-88 Monte Carlo
The side post batteries are a pain to use a booster pack on. Have troubles constantly trying to get those clamps right on them. Once you get it right that Noco gets em going almost 💯 of the time. 😊
Chevron Techron in the black bottle is the one to use for vehicles that need a extreme system clean out.
Your videos are my favorite past time rightnow man lol keep up the great work 🎉, sad to see the monte go but itll go to a good home I'm sure,, 23 and you're inspiring me to get into car flipping im in Canada and seen quite a good market on canada co part lol
Randy, can't wait to see the SS on the Power Tour with you and MWM.
Good morning Randy. Taking the 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo out on its last run with its original parts before swapping out the engine and transmission.
The old girl made it! Gonna be a beast when you are done with the 383 can’t wait to see it! Going to be epic!!
I would also do some brake work for that kind of power your gonna have under the hood. Can't wait for more videos!!
The side post terminal battery is one of the most aggravating designs in modern history, IMHO.
I love it when people tear apart and modify old SS Monte Carlos. Makes mine worth so much more!!!
A 5th of Everclear grain alcohol in that monte carlo gas tank is the best fuel system cleaner...any carb car.
Great video😀🔥
Yay finally get to see it drive
Good morning. Good to see you again. I would get another camera and park all the cars on the right hand side of the driveway so that your not ruining the grass in the front yard.😊👍
Nice ,can't wait to see the car with it's new engine and gearbox in it randy Im sure it gona sound and drive superb man, pice👊👊👌👌👍👍👍🏴🏴
Randy the low compression girl may have 145 hp. No need as well for 93 octane as misconceptions of higher octane would contain more cleaners or additives. Just formulated to resist knock for higher compression or forced inducted engines. You probably know all that 😊.
So seeing that the car was kind of dirty, I was thinking, you should get an unlimited number of car washes at some place, so you can take all your cars to get washed constantly it'd be cool for example, there's a Shell gas station and you paid 20 bucks a month and you can wash your car unlimited with the automatic wash and I was just thinking that would be great for you to save time and keep the cars clean at a affordable price👍
I remember that I saw one of these for sale in 1997 for $3,000 and it barely had any miles, so needless to say that would have been a great investment but back then I was pretty young and also had no money🤷♂️
16:55 license plate is fighting you to the death 😂
3 inch exhaust is over kill in my opinion. 2 1/2 inch is plenty because add the two together and that's 5 inches and that's enough to let a 600 horsepower motor breath Easley
3 inch is really for engines in the big block family, I agree 2 1/2 is more than enough for a small block
I noticed you use injector cleaner and i get that for a car that sat for 10 years but my 2011 Impala sits in storage for 2 months for winter. Is it safe for my car too? I also use Ultra 94 octane.
If it were me(and obviously it's your cars to do what you wish to do), I'd be taking the Mustang LX out on Power Tour. It's already been set up with a new engine, and much more work already done and is sharp as a tack in that red. Seems perfect for Power Tour. And having a hatchback is quite handy when traveling.
The Monte would make a great street cruiser, cars and coffee/car show type of vehicle in its orginal condition. I know your already selling the Mustang LX and have the sponership deal in place for the engine on the Monte, but just my 2 cents.
Here in Georgia we're paying almost 3.05 for regular gas
Love the car Randy
I like this type of video driving at the town and go for some shopping, Randy do the same with your cool Van i like that van
Looks like the new wiper blades cleaned the windshield good.👍
I love Braum’s too I eat there every time I’m in Oklahoma or NW Arkansas.
What do you plan on doing with this car after you replace the drive train? Are you a drag racer? Street racer? Or just want to overheat it on power tour? I'd love to know.
This will be nice!
My favorite body style Monte Carlo
I had a 88 SS that I bought brand new. I’d like to see that when it’s done on video here.
I get both sides of it is only original once. I have 2 classic cars. One is a 85 Monte Carlo SS which I am going to great lengths to keep original as possible. With everyone modifying these cars, before long finding a really nice original car will get harder and harder. Plus I want my SS as a driver. for the same reason you was saying it is comfortable and it just seems to float going down the road. My other car fills my other needs. It is a 78 Corvette it is modified with a 383, and aftermarket AC, The car will do 11.6 quarter mile. So I have the best of both worlds.
Being that your car was bought from the original owner, and was in such good condition I would have a hard time making a mod out of it. I would do exactly what I did with mine. The Corvette on the other hand the paint had been color changed, and other mods had already been done to it, so keeping it original would have been harder and probably cost me more than just making a modified car.
Like I say I can see both sides. But in this case you have a really nice car that in the long run will cost less to keep it original than it will to modify it, and I would bet it will be driven more if kept in that original condition, and a few years down the road, keeping it original may even make it worth more money. But it is your car.
Yo Randy,, you might want to do that rear end sooner rather than later; if it's stock it should be a posi, & I believe the SS had taller gears. Point being for what it is, it's a nice unit & worth not burning up, which will happen pretty quick (been there, ruined the t shirt).
Lol, talk about bring back memories from my trucking days I used to deliver to a Walmart distribution center in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. $3.50 for a quart of synthetic oil is cheap, I have been paying $7_$8/quart for Mobil 1 synthetic high mileage oil for my truck.
Hi Randy what a beautiful car she is
Love that Prius C.
same car i had love this car. modded or stock
G-Bodys are Awesome 😎🏆
Hey Randy I'm just kind of curious on what the fuel filter looks like inside the carburetor. That fuel filter might be dry rotted out. Creating a restriction of fuel
Be safe and careful.😊👍🙏
I have an 86 iroc Factor five speed I would love To have that engine as a backup
@autoauctionrebuilds Yeah all 4 G-Body’s I’ve owned have always had a real nice ride. They are super comfy for long drives.
Your car, your money, your decision! I hope, at least you will repaint the original color.
When I seen the title and heard the first few words I was already commenting then I heard the rest of what you said I was worried for a second i was scared that the build fell thru and u were selling it
I will take the 5.0 heard you said nobody will want it lol I have a monte carlo ss shell needs a motor 😂
I suppose you're going to be putting in a new instrument cluster aren't you? Also will you be putting in a new steering wheel too? Minor things, I know, but since you're doing a total rebuild it might be nice to put some modern touches inside...
Yes let go 😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Need a mullet to go with that kind of Powaaaaa in the Monte
I like the video❤
We're riding with ya.
Is that a yellow Chevy Spark? I love those cars.
That is cool Randy 383 stroker I like the older Chevy stuff I mean GM I'm not too impressed with the new stuff
Is that a prius c in the back?🙈
Don’t let Maaco paint that car…paint correct it, add new stickers but don’t have it painted. That’s a great way to ruin it. 3 inch exhaust is not needed for the engine you have planned. Run a nice 2.5 with an X pipe and some free flowing mufflers. Will sound great and have plenty of flow. Why can’t you retain all of the factory options? Cruise, AC and power steering can all easily be retained. Keep the car looking stock with a little extra in the drive line. Personally I think you should go LS with fuel injection and a turbo.
It's already been repainted once. Too late.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds But I bet it was not repainted by Maaco…from what you have shown I believe the paint will clean up with paint correction and a buff and polish. If you go to get it painted and insist on going to Maaco hopefully they don’t let Ray Charles prep and paint it.
I hope at some point you get the rear brakes fixed so it is safer to drive and stops.👍
I can’t believe you are doing all this work to the Monte Carlo but not the grand national
the gas cap holds the plate down on the pass side
i hope you change the side posts to top posts
We can rebuild em, we have the technology, better then it was before better stronger faster.
This gen and the first gen monte Were the best looking . But the 70-72 win with horsepower and the longest hood length in Chevy history. 😃
And if you get the fuel system cleaner and put that in it may help her to run better.😊👍
Gas stations charging me 4.50 still over here in washington😭
Nice 😊
165 Randy from 1989 and up because they are always 5 hp behind the Camaros RS with the same engine the 5.0 had 170 and 1989 and up.
YaY Randyyyyyyy
You got me 😅
😆 at calling THAT a spare tire........
That would have sucked if you ran out of gas right in front of that old guy's house. That likes to play with rocks..
Wow ✅
Good luck on your journey with the Chevrolet Montecarlo SS, I sure at the end you'll be happy.
still no slouch ...1500lbs more than your Mustang GT & 50 hp less ... they still perform pretty good all things considered
Wow $3.05 is really cheap. It is $3.54 for 88 here in Anchorage Alaska
Bro i hate those gawd damn side post chevy used. They are annoying when you're tryna do anything battery related
She needs a LS 7 twin turbo texas speed bad to the bone engine lol 🤣
Side post battery cables suck
305 a gallon and 93 octane! Man that some cheap gas. And yes I live in cali, I get 91 octane and 5 dollars a gallon!😮😏 . Envious I am!😄
Whoever is watching this video, never give up on your dreams.😇
Maybe buy a car with a blown engine and swap the old engine over?
Monster transmission - not good!
