If you choose to drain your above ground swimming pool after the pool season, you will quickly realized that the drain valve that is attached to the bottom of your pool is about 6 inch higher than the pool floor. This cause the draining to stop with at least a hundred gallon of water left in your pool.
What I suggest is to simply use the siphon method to drain the pool completely. Just make sure that the other end of the hose were the water comes out is lower than the floor of the pool else, the gravity will stop pulling the water out of the pool. If one end of your pool is lower than the other end then you will want to place the hose at the lowest part or you can use a broom brush to push the water towards the hose so that the siphoning action will continue until there is no more water left.

The way you cypher that water by turning the water on and then disconnecting the hose, that was a great idea! I'm sure thankful

You just saved me so much work! We left our pool out over winter and the remaining foot of water is NASTY. Glad we can clear it all out and start with all new water this season!

Anyone know why pools like this don't have the drainage hole closer to the ground?
I was thinking its the lowest position they can do before it goes to the curved area of the vinyl.
Where can i get that hose adapter?
It came with the pool. If you don't have it anymore you can purchase them from Amazon,

Hope this helps.
Doesn't work I tryed 10x no water at other end coming out
The following reason below will cause the water suction to stop.
1. There is a kink in the hose: Make sure that the hose does not have sharp bends. This usually happens when you have a light duty hose or one of those stretchable hose as it is prone to kink.
2. There is still some air inside the hose when you start the suction: Make sure that you purge all the air out of the hose before you start the process and do not introduce air when you throw the hose into the pool and on the ground. If you start this process when the water is already low, the water will come out of hose when you throw it inside the pool. When you begin, do not put the hose all the way to the pool floor, you want to start with the hose higher than where your faucet is. If the water level is already lower than your faucet, you can turn the faucet on until water starts coming out into the pool water and let the water flow for at least 30 seconds to make sure all the air inside the hose is purge. Then quickly turn off the faucet and remove the end of the hose of the outlet and throw it into the ground within 2 seconds of turning off the faucet.
3. The outlet side of the hose is on the same level or higher than the end coming from your pool. The suction uses gravity, so if the end where the water is supposed to come out is on the same level or higher than the end where the water is supposed to be sucked in then it will not work.
If you can't make it work with the suction, you can use a utility pump similar to this: amzn.to/3Pz1jpC
Good Luck.
Me to
Didnt work
make sure there is no air gap or kink in the hose. I have problem doing this using a light duty hose or flex hose. You will need at least medium duty or a heavy duty hose so there will be no kink or air gap inside. Good luck.
