    We bought this pool. I used a sod cutter and went down 2.5". Leveled the area with sand. Placed a pool cover for rocks and used blocks to level from leg to leg. This was a huge undertaking. The chemical side was definitely easier than the construction that went into getting up. Great job on your pool. It looks great!

    We have the same pool and a big slope too. Didn't realize how big a slope still we started excavating to level it. After excavating it still is off so went to the quarry today to get some clean fill to build up ground on the one side...not a lot but we read or saw video saying not to build up with sand. The quarry with all those huge piles only had fill with rocks in it! So they suggested infield dirt that is used on baseball fields. So we bought that, spread it out and a load of sand we have towards middle and other side under where the pool liner will sit. Tomorrow we are going to rent a vibratory plate compressor to really pack in the side that we tried to build up and then add more sand to middle. I like how you secured your blocks so I will have my husband get something for ours too. I'm hoping we will have it level tomorrow and start filling. My "bargain" pool is starting to add up. And yes...I really thought I was going to throw a tarp down and a little sand and set this sucker up. Boy was I wrong!!😬

    Good video, super right about the posts sinking. True on the friends when they need you. I dug out for mine about 10 inches, put down 1” styrofoam insulation all level. Started filling and looking good. Finished filling and the monsoons set in before I could backfill. So now I’m adding pavers at every post. Then I’ll backfill. Good video!

    This is the only pool setup that I've seen on RUclips that shows what 95 percent of us are dealing with the the dirt and ground slopes. All the videos I've seen is perfect soil that you don't need to rototill, excavator,bobcat or use any machinery for the ground. My dirt is like concrete and watering it doesn't help at all under the half inch it's hard as clay it's just like bedrock. Like the video my situation fortunately I'm not dealing with a slope like yours.

  • @thebugalito

    My neighbor gave me this pool. I didnt know a thing about it especially how big it is. I had to put it down in the back yard(forest) on a straight up and down slope (almost. it's really hard to stand on it and if you set something down it rolls away for days). It took me EIGHT MONTHS to dig out the hole before I could start leveling. Just me and my shovel. Mountains and mountains of dirt. I ran out of places to put it and started giving truck loads away. Had to build a huge retaining wall.
    March 5 2023 is the day he gave it to me and I got started right away. I've worked on it every day except for maybe a month total. Today is April 18 2024 and the pool is laid where it's sposta be. Now for assembly. I cannot even describe what I have been through or the endless money I've put in this nightmare. I saw a pretty good hole in the bottom but can't find it now.

      The leveling part absolutely sucks donkey dic 🤣🤣🤣
      Wife come home with a big ass pool like this and talked me into it. I spent hours on a Saturday digging in 95 degree heat. The yard had a definite slope.
      I wound up renting a bobcat style earth mover from Home Depot for the day. It made short work of leveling the ground. I also got around to removing a lot of unwanted brush and bushes
      It was absolutely worth the effort. I often come home from work all hot and sweaty and jump in the pool.

  • @Cosmis5
    @Cosmis5 Год назад +1

    Second time owning one of these. The first one lasted about 5 years until one of the legs rusted from the inside out and snapped. THE INSIDE OF THESE POLES ARE NOT PAINTED. Second time around, I took a smaller paint roller attached to a stick and a ramed a whole bunch of brown Rust-Oleum through each pole. He's right, if you do not put the legs on pavers, even with the plastic feet it comes with, the poles will sink into the ground and rust.
    Assemble the top ring first without the liner and verticals. The bottom of the "T" connectors will be where you place your pavers. Then disassemble the top ring and level your ground and pavers.

    I put this pool up last year during the pandemic. I got it level. Had everything set up right. My kids enjoyed it all summer. At the end of the year it was almost time to winterize the pool when I came home from work and found a huge surprise......yes my wife and in-laws had totally taken the pool down. When I asked why?....My wife says "we just figured it would be easier to take it down and put it back up again next year instead of winterizing it......today my friends here I am putting the damn thing up again.

    We used the inside skimmer last year and realized with splashing by the grandkids that it had a tendency to come off the side and mess up the pump. We ended up installing a side slimmer and it works much better. The video is great and a lot of stuff for new owners to think about. The pools are relatively cheap but it’s all the extra stuff you need to make it right that costs the money.

    I’ve got the same pool. Usually have the intex 18 by 48, usually last 3 years. Covoid caused huge shortages... wife found this pool on eBay, new for 1k
    The metal feels cheaper, so I am hoping for 2 years (take mine down by October)
    Pool is huge compared to 18 x 48. You are right, the pump and filter that comes with it is crap. I’m on my second intex pump with sand filter - first pump lasted 5 years. I think 2400 gallons an hour. I maybe backwash once a week.. usually one every two weeks. Takes 5 minutes if that
    DO: scrap the hoses, hard plumb it... hoses it comes with adds friction... draws and pumps way better with real pvc. Not hard.
    DO: plug one of the intakes and cut the other to fit larger 1 1/2 pipe. Amazing difference.
    I might video my set up to show others...

    • @trehelton4085
      @trehelton4085  4 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for the tips much appreciated. In the beginning I was going to go PVC but I thought with all the 90’s I would have to put in would slow down the flow? So at the moment still using the hoses and they are working fine, so probably will stick it out this year with the hoses unless I start to see issues .
      Now plugging the one intake is a great idea and I’m leaning on doing that for sure. You should post a video would like to see your pool and how you did some things. So have you ever kept your pool up through the winter? Pretty sure that’s the route I’m going this year, seems to much of a hassle to take down and I’ve been told by a lot of people it’s better keeping it up and winterizing. What’s your thoughts?

    I would never buy a home that has a slope for starters as well as buying a home on a busy street unless someone is paying me to live there or I’m renting. But you did do a great job for your first time doing this which is impressive in itself. I lucked out the first time doing this myself. The pool is slightly out of level due to impatience with the crew I had to work with, maybe some settling since I didn’t have a tamper, an the season was nearing to the end but it still is standing strong for the moment 2 years so far. I may end up emptying and redoing it again maybe. I just need to build a deck around it and I’ll be all set once I redo it. But you have a nice little setup.

    Bonding isn't required everywhere for even metal pools..in Illinois its dependent where you live..where i live bonding isn't code..also you can run good gage extensions cord so long as its plugged into a GFCI in the house ..yeah its best to have it close though ive done the same

    Great video man very informative and my slope is way steeper than yours and looking to put this exact pool in. Odd question but how many legs does this pool have? Asking so I can price out paver stones as well. Thanks in advance!

    It’s better to have a 1-2 inch drop off on one side that way if push comes to shove and you have to drain it then it’ll be easier to vaccum or scoop out the water and stuff.

    What type of vacuum do you use for your pool? We have the same pool and use a sand filter. Having trouble finding a good vacuum.

      Arlisha Edwards, I just use a simple hand vacuum and do it myself.

    Young man, you did a great job. I know your family is very happy 😊. Can you please tell me what kind of skimmer you have. We just put the same pool up and oh my goodness 😳 it was rough. On a hill as well. Trying to get it leveled was difficult. Anyways, we are filling it up tomorrow. Thanks again for all of your information.

    Ours is a step bigger, ours is the 26ft × 52in Powersteel. Wishing I had went smaller!!! Bought last year and thought we had the ground level enough put it up 3 different times! One time we buckled 3 pole legs. This year paid someone to come in and level the spot, still not good enough, buckled a leg pole Sunday. This pool has been nothing but a headache!!!

    • @trehelton4085
      @trehelton4085  4 года назад

      Damn sorry to hear :( have you guys been putting the legs on blocks? And yes I agree if I went with the 18ft. It would of def made life easier.

    • @shayblandford1815
      @shayblandford1815 4 года назад +1

      @@trehelton4085 yes, but that was last year before the ground was professionally leveled. I think it's a flaw in the pool, the straps are to tight. Hopefully the company will have them in stock soon. If pools weren't so crazy to find right now I would junk this one and get a smaller pool. Had a 22×5 Intex for years never any problem even when not perfectly level.

    I’m new to this pool.

    • @fordrac1ng81
      @fordrac1ng81 3 года назад +1

      I use 1-2 of the 3" clorox tabs in a floater, I shock every 2 weeks, if I need alkalinity I just use baking soda from sams club or costco. Always remember adjust PH first before adjusting chlorine. And shock your pool every couple of weeks.
