    As a retired officer--- tears were shed watching this video. The perfect song sung by Disturbed for this video.

      It makes me tear up too. I’ve been retired since 2018.

      @@DavidGomez-ji2sp Most people don't know what we saw, did and sacrificed--to protect them and serve our community. Sad what the police are facing now. I became a policeman in 1968-- a different world then.

      @DavidGomez-ji2sp 2 года назад +3

      Anthony, I entered Law Enforcement in 1979 as a Texas Highway Patrolman. I retired from a Municipal Police Department. You are correct my brother. People have no idea. I may be retired, but in some ways the off switch isn’t there. You may leave the job, but you take it with you. I feel for the guys on the job as well. We all have some PTSD.

    • @theidahospud
      @theidahospud 2 года назад +2

      @@DavidGomez-ji2sp You are so right--I can't turn off the switch either. 3 years as a military policeman (Vietnam Vet), 23 years on the LAPD-- moved to Idaho to get away from the madness of Southern Calif. Watching that once great city imploding hurts deeply. and what the current officers working there are facing is unbelievable. I couldn't do it now. We are lucky in so many ways to make retirement-- but sadly still haunted by what we saw and experienced. Take Care- David. Yes, we are Brothers.

    The echos of that little boy drowning in the swimming pool, and the LEO on his bended knee in private tears just tore through my soul. 18 to 55 seconds in. Writing below, Michael Finley, 17 year veteran comments saying service in the blue ruined his life and would not do it again. I respect that. Michael the job ruined my life too, but it gave far, far more than it ever took. I would do it again. NRHPD have created a first class video. Thank you guys for producing that masterpiece and easing the pain. It is 0159 in the morning here and another PTSD night with no sleep and horrors haunting my head. At least I can get trough these dark hours with fellow LEOs For company and a decent soundtrack! The voice of David Draiman is pitch perfect and cures a whole heap of ills.

    I've watched this many times and it always brings tears. My son has been a LEO for 20+ yrs., and he's one of the good cops. I've asked my grandson if he'd like to follow in his dad's footsteps, he said "no", his dad said a definite "NO".

      Songs like this should . . . no NEED to be played with images like these. TV & Music dehumanizes our police who run toward danger and protect us! They protect us when we are lives are in danger - this video NEEDS to be played on TV and not just on Fox News.

    • @rustyshackleford9115
      @rustyshackleford9115 7 лет назад +2

      You're contradicting yourself there my friend, you say "this video NEEDS to be played on TV and not just Fox News." , but before that you said "TV & Music dehumanizes our police ". Maybe I don't understand, but it seems like you're saying TV and Music are no good for Police, then you say it SHOULD be played on TV. Huh ? Yes, the video should be shown, after all Police Officers made it and it's not offensive, it's real life my friend, and the war on our Police Officers, Local, State and Federal must stop. Perhaps the very end is PG, maybe youngsters could get scared, so play it later at night, but still in "prime time" for young adults and adults to think about. It shows that Police Officers are human, just like others, except as you say they run toward danger and protect us...for that we owe them our continual support and gratitude.

    • @matthewblythe5917
      @matthewblythe5917 7 лет назад +4

      Meant those stupid liberal pundits bud and those morons who swallowed the Kool-Aid known as "hands up, don't shoot". What I meant by the video played on the TV is images like these need to be seen by the public that show that cops are people too. Images like these with a song as powerful like "Sound of Silence" would go a LONG way to stop the dehumanization.

    • @jockrussell7709
      @jockrussell7709 7 лет назад +2

      I know what you meant, Matthew. Television can portray us as hard, tough, invincible, but miss the human side of caring with families...and seeing tragedies. I always say the tough part of the job is 'I can't un-see, what I see'. We do what we do for you and for each other. Thank you for your support and God bless you.

    There are lot of good and decent people who are law enforcement officers that out the bad apples to shane. They do a tough and dangerous job that offerers pay that is unequal in terms of remuneration for the rising risks involved. We must stand by our police officers and offer out support in these ever increasingly difficult times.

    Part of the very real danger that police face, is the drug war. Turn off the war; put the drugs back into the drug store; restore peace.
    Paul Simon wrote The Sound of Silence when I was a young man. I'm 76, now. The song is a Vietnam era anti-war protest, lamenting the ability of the pro-war side to ignore the voices for peace (as though our voices were silent!). People ask about the meaning of the last stanza; it refers to anti-war graffiti. "And the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls (Hell no, we won't go!), and tenement halls (F... the army!), and whispered in the sounds of silence (Sir! My men won't go!). To see our voices, read "Waging Peace in Vietnam" edited by Carver, Cortright, and Doherty, or see the film, "Sir! No, sir!" by David Zeiger. Today, we call for an end to the drug wars and other institutions of racial suppression. Please help us bring peace to America.
