The one thing I've learned was once you stop chasing, stop looking, stop waiting...prospects, doors and options flood your way. Every time I chased something I wanted, the want ran faster, whether that be a relationship, kids, career, education...when I was desperately seeking it, it didn't happen for me. Once I let go and just...lived my left as Peter said, I obtained everything I wanted in less than 5 years. It all just started falling on me like sweet raindrops on a hot summer day. Just live and believe that what's meant for you, is for you. Don't worry about the timeline.

this is the version of love you get when you see it through the individualistic lens. it is very good for people who experience a broken heart to move on but fundamentally this type of love cannot last because the connection is only for your gain. This represents love as a mirror and the person you love is just a tool to give you the reflection of yourself being loved. it sounds nice and refreshing to not depend on others for getting the feeling but if it is independent of the other person that means the other person does not matter. Also sounds nice that you can love again and again without being too attached to that person you are with but is it that meaningful in a broader sense or in a shared experience? what about the promise the commitment the choice of being with that person even when we cannot feel ourselves reflected?! does it make it worthless? it seems so. if this is love then this is nothing but selfishness.
Yeah, this is my thought too. On one side I see his point and I do think it’s beautiful in one way because of what you give to people and because of the protection to yourself you give, but it is all for self….a very selfish kind of love for sure. Which means the kind of love that is required when you’re not having a good day, and they’re not and LIFE happens doesn’t exist. And if that kind of love doesn’t exist when sh*t hits the fan…then what do you have together outside of what you can have with anyone else. It doesn’t make them any more special than a gas station clerk or your an acquaintance at work.

But how do I actually get to feel like that? I’m so deeply hurt and crying all the time. I’m 55. And I know I have deep love inside of me. I’ve loved a few. But I gave everything to a pathological liar. I’m not sure what was real or not real. I’m kind of sure that he loved me. But I don’t know for how long or how little… he broke me. How do I find my happiness again. I’m seriously struggling.
