I appreciate that he is putting himself out there to help people. It’s an important endeavor and one I’m sure he’s good at. However, one thing I have noticed in the self help arena is that in an effort to invite self awareness, there is a slight leaning toward shaming someone for their experience and how they are feeling. Saying things like “subtle manipulation” feels a bit confrontational and judgmental. The woman at the beginning of the clip probably would have come to the same conclusion had he offered curiosity and empathy. If she is asking the question, she is probably already feeling a certain way about it. Compassion vs “tough love,” can be just as powerful.

Yes so true. We were in that specific phase where what we did then was what we only knew and what we know now is because of that past phase that we had to experience sometimes in a lot of pain in order to learn a lesson, grow and move on. Boy that was hard for me to conceptualise at the time but they say time is the killer and time is the healer. Life is so amazing and I honestly believe we are own nemesis.

Yes it’s all about living in the present and allowing the universe to do what it is suppose to do naturally and don’t force it. Keep still and all your answers would come to you.

this is the version of love you get when you see it through the individualistic lens. it is very good for people who experience a broken heart to move on but fundamentally this type of love cannot last because the connection is only for your gain. This represents love as a mirror and the person you love is just a tool to give you the reflection of yourself being loved. it sounds nice and refreshing to not depend on others for getting the feeling but if it is independent of the other person that means the other person does not matter. Also sounds nice that you can love again and again without being too attached to that person you are with but is it that meaningful in a broader sense or in a shared experience? what about the promise the commitment the choice of being with that person even when we cannot feel ourselves reflected?! does it make it worthless? it seems so. if this is love then this is nothing but selfishness.

Thank you so much ! This does help a lot ! I have never thought about it that way, being comfortable with uncertainty and just accepting it as it is : I just don’t know. I am working on myself to get better, i am listening to a few teachers, and that helps. Meditation helps too to calm down internally. What you say is like what they say in a different way. However, what you’ve just said enlightens me ! I thought I understood what they were saying when saying “it is as it is” ; “just accept it” ; “feel the emotion, don’t resist it, then it will dissolve”, “thoughts are controlling my actions, emotions”. But in the end, I was still stuck in thinking “what should I do ? What path should I take ? But I am afraid, I don’t have the energy, the confidence, etc.”, even feeling stressed out to find out quickly, as if I had a deadline to figure it all out. I am sometimes aware that my thinking is still blocking me. So yeah, ok, i am aware of it, but what next ? What should I do since I don’t even know where to start ? I don’t have a specific goal, I don’t have a specific vision of my best self, etc. And… what do I really want ? Your message enlightens me ! Now I understand I am still in my thoughts letting them to make me feel insecure, and thinking about it is just continuing to feed my uncertainty, and just like you say, this is exhausting. I have realised that there is no deadline. And this is actually OK not to know right now. I should just embrace the present moment as it is. Without resisting my uncertainty, my feeling “lost” , yeah I should just take it easy and have more trust. Thank you a lot !
