  • In this video I give a review and follow up and review of this amazing survival class. I also tell a little bit about the class and some tips on how to help pass. It may be called basic but I promise you it is not easy. I am very excited to sign up for future classes to learn even more.

    Just found your channel! We were in the same class. A year later and I'm still bumping into, and talking to folks from that weekend. I haven't done a video yet about my own gear or the experience, but watching yours might inspire me to do so. I recently paid for the Land Nav Intensive for this coming Spring. Gave you a thumbs up, and a sub for a fellow PFS Basic Survival Course classmate. 🙂

      Would it be okay if Dub C makes a video training routine to follow to be condition-ready for PATHFINDER basic and then one for PATHFINDER intermediate please?
      There’s a 7.5mile (in 2hr,30min) walk that I occasionally like to take from work to home. Can I in some way apply that to be condition-ready for PATHFINDER basic?

  • @TheRealJackOfTrades
    @TheRealJackOfTrades 2 года назад +1

    You were being very kind. There is a lot of information that you get after you arrive that can help you succeed if you know it before you arrive. Do like Dub said. 5k with your list gear in a 20l pack and a 55 gallon bag of sticks...every other day. If you do not get sleep the first night you will have problems day 2. If given multiple choices in resource collection gather them all. If not for the 3 pockets full of birch bark I gathered and dried fire would have escaped me. Everything was 5 plus days wet. If you are not used to 80+ humidity get used to it.
    Do not slip away like a thief in the night, and abandon the class. Do not bring booze. Do not arrive thinking its a family campout.
    If you get injured don't hide it. Have an awesome partner who can see you've got something going on. Have a partner. Mine was awesome, but sadly I wasn't aside from navigation.
    Peanut butter will keep you going. Bring food you can actually eat

    Sounds like you had fun, but it also sounds like it was a lot of work. I knew you would make it just fine. I don't know if I could swallow instant coffee, then drink some water. But I can chew up aspirins, then drink some water. Have a great day Dub 👊

    • @dubc3615

      Chewing aspirins was about the same so you may be able to. It worked out ok but rather have a nice hot cup of coffee lol.

    That’s the same class I was in with my daughter. Staying up until midnight around the community fire pit trying to dry out tinder material for the next day, then getting up at 0500 and going back down to heat up water for instant coffee and maybe get more moisture out of the tinder. Good times! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! I’ll be in better physical condition next time I show up there. I’d up the 5k w/50lbs to 10k w/75lbs, and it will make that portion just that much easier. It’s also a good idea to stretch out first thing in the morning. Made things easier for me, at least.

    • @dubc3615

      It was an amazing experience. I say the more you prepare the better so good call on the 10k 75ib.
