That was great! I appreciate fancy gear, especially for longer camping trips, but sometimes it’s good for the mind, body and spirit to get out there with just the bare minimum. I would be heading for a lumberjack breakfast and a pot of coffee as soon as I broke camp though!
Wow Dub!!! That had to be brutal. Very cool review. I graduated high school in 87. Seems like the stuff that really needed utilized worked out for about as long as needed. Thanks for enduring the night for us Dub.
Thank you for sharing that survival kit! It sure did bring out your creativity and how to make use of what you have. You made it seem as close to a true survival scenario as possible, no backup MREs or Rations, great job !
Good review of an old survival tin. I would recommend making your own kit. Put in the things you would want, just try to go with the guidelines of less than eight ounces, and able to fit into a large pocket on a parka or fanny pack. Of course you can go heavier and larger, but the goal would be to keep it small enough that you would not leave it behind. Just like with any EDC item, you want as much function as you can get with the least weight.
35 years old survival tin. The edible contents are not safe. A few good items to have. The saw worked well. Nice shelter. Nice fire. Poor dinner. Thank you for sharing Dub C. Blessings 👍🏼
I needed a big breakfast and a coffee after this overnight when hiking back that was all I could think about. Still fun to try some other skills. Thanks for watching David.
BRAVE that would some up this older ration !!!! Nota too sure to thank the sender especially not knowing how old it was. Thanks for sticking to it ❤️ the guts 👍
Good afternoon buddy. Great concept for the video. You are a brave man to try some of that food. The beef jerky and hi Candy would've been a hard no for me. No coffee? You call that surviving? 😀👍🇺🇸
Pretty cool old survival package. I remember seeing these in store shelves prior to Y2K as well, interesting to see all the items, not sure if they were the same brand. We worked with the Scouts to make a similar type of survival kit prior to fall camps down at Long Point Provincial Park. Another item we had them pack was baking soda.
No numbing sensations from the plastic jerky 🤣🤣 I can’t believe you went through with that tin can terribleness. 2 thumbs 👍👍up for that! Take care Dub🍻
That kit would have been awesome if you used it 35 years ago.. Pretty good selection of tools in there along with a nice selection of food items. Those little plastic bags that held the soup cubes did not do well standing up to the test of time. Was worried that your emergency blanket would have degraded too. Those saws suck even when they're new. The saw on your Leatherman is 100x better. Good overnighter, fun to watch but probably not a blast for you. Thanks for enduring this and taking us along. Loved watching. 12:20 - very John McClane of you lol
Great stuff, Dub! I remember those giant gumdrops as a kid--we loved 'em! Super cool idea for a video series, using only a specific survival kit to rely on. Do more! Hey, what about some videos showing kits that you made up for EDC? What would you put in a little kit for your pocket? How about something for the glove compartment in your car? Bug out bags?
Great video. Thank you for showcasing and living and surviving on the survival tin, putting all of the energy and physical/mental exertion to create such a high quality video. It is nice that a lot of the food survived and some very useful and interesting tools were also included in the kit.
A lot of stuff was packed in that tin. To bad it was so old. Yea, get a new survival kit and go out for a night. Or take your ammo can and make up your own kit. nice review.
Jeez! I'd hate to he stuck in the Arctic with that little can if false hopes! Thanks for reviewing it! Looks like the kind of gimmicky survival kit I dreamed of having when I was about 9 or 10, in 1987! That duck tape could have been used to patch the hole in the bag, as well as putting tabs on the corner of the emergency blanket and then attached the safety pins through that. That was a smart move making the rock toggle!
What a great video dub glad you were able to still use some of that survival kit but I definitely want to see you with a newer kit go do another overnight to see how a complete and modern kit would work in a survival situation..thanks for sharing great job out there🐧🐧🎩🤘🔥
That's the bummer of low wall cans when boiling the smoke infuses. Also can be dangerous using low wall with esbit stoves cause fumes will mix with food or water. So always go with taller mess kits if you can.
Excellent video! Love the dry humour! Love to see you review newer kits.
Awesome I will try to find some cool ones to check out!
Yes this was amazing please do another
Thank you!

@@dubc3615 There is nothing better than big breakfast!
That was awesome! Loved the “let’s take out a survival tin”. Lol. Absolutely a great video!
Thanks brother! It was a good time even after fighting that dang blanket.
Wow Dub!!! That had to be brutal. Very cool review. I graduated high school in 87. Seems like the stuff that really needed utilized worked out for about as long as needed. Thanks for enduring the night for us Dub.
This thing was cool to check out and I was surprised to see what did hold up. Thanks for watching.
Awesome to see you field test these vintage kits 👍
This one worked out even though so old. Day 2 would have been a bit tougher but still had water which is key.
@@dubc3615 ya, it seems that these canned survival kits are made for overnighter emergencies 👍
Wow! Well that was a rough one but you made it
I wanted to see how it worked and luckily some items held up to make it work. Thanks for watching.

This kit was so awesome to check out. The contents was like a time capsule. Thanks again for sending my way you always find the coolest items.
Good skills those mylar sheets rip easily but they stop some wind. The noise is always a problem.
It worked out great to stay warm during the night. I had one rip but had to seal it with some duct tape. Thanks for watching.

Yup I was excited to see what the age was then utilize what I can to make it!
Hello my dear friend 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hello thanks for watching.
That kit had a surprising amount of stuff in it.
Been waiting for this one. Yes an overnighter with a newer survival tin would be good.
Copy I will see if I can find a newer kit to try out.
Good afternoon buddy. Great concept for the video. You are a brave man to try some of that food. The beef jerky and hi Candy would've been a hard no for me. No coffee? You call that surviving? 😀👍🇺🇸
Next kit has to have coffee for sure that was a rough morning lol. Thanks for watching Dennis.
@@dubc3615 I counted my coffee supply the other day. 164 servings in my truck. That should get me through the rest of the weekend.
That was a cool little kit, you hope to never have to need them but knowing how to make the best of the can be difference between success and failure.
Practice makes perfect and now I want to try a new kit and compare to see how that does. Thanks for watching.
So glad you tried the jerky, that's awesome.
It was not bad after I chewed it for a bit. When I first took a bite I thought I bit the plastic.

Very cool project with the scouts I bet they learned a ton. Thanks for watching Murray.
Very cool ! I would definitely have been skeptical about eating that jerky...LOL Thanks for sharing !
The jerky was dinner lol and luckily it turned out ok but ya I was a little scared to try it.
Great video, thanks. I remember those candies from when I was younger.
Thank you.
No numbing sensations from the plastic jerky 🤣🤣 I can’t believe you went through with that tin can terribleness. 2 thumbs 👍👍up for that!

Since my soup was bad had to get something for dinner lol. Thanks for checking it out.

It was cool to try out all the items and ya those saws just do not cut it lol. It was fun to try but ya next kit needs coffee. Thanks for watching.
I was thinking, if there had been somewhere to fish, l wonder if them ruined soup cubes would make fish bait

It allowed me to test some skills and try some of the gear. I am excited to try other survival kits and see how they compare. Thanks for watching!
@@dubc3615 I am excited to see the tests and the kits.
Great video. I think the modern survival kit review would be a brilliant idea.
Thanks I will see if I can find a good one to try.
This is some survivor man level stuff dub c I learn alot from this
Thanks for watching. I love practicing my skills on these trips.
The whole concept of this tin is cool but it’s showing it’s age. It would be cool to try a new one. Thanks brother!
I will see what other kits I can find thanks for watching!
Good job with what little you had left from the kit. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us, Warren. Stay safe and stay warm
It worked out pretty good I still had a great time even though sleep was a bit rough lol. Thanks for watching.
Nice job working with what you have. Cool shaped can. I would like to see you use a newer one. Take care. ☺👋🍁👍
For sure but next one needs coffee lol. Thanks for watching.
A lot of stuff was packed in that tin. To bad it was so old.

Agrees this was a decent survival tin but not set up for Artic. Thanks for watching.
Awesome and Very Good Video
Thanks for watching.

I am thinking of some kits and gonna try and build them up but this offered some good inspiration and ideas. Thanks for watching Bryan.
That did not look comfortable at all, lol. Thanks for taking one for the team.
It was not my best night of sleep lol. It was very cool to see the contents of tin. The bazooka gum for 3 cents is going in my collection.
Hey matey hope ure keepin well that tin looks cool
Hey all good here just working a ton.
Jo. Do another trip. 👍🏽
For sure I will thank you.
Great video dub I thought I was watching Bruce Willis for a second lol those pocket saws are usually junk imo
Awesome lol I was hoping a few would get my joke! The saw did not hold up at all. Thanks for watching Chris.
Amazing you did that , love this video. What would you put in a survival tin?
I was thinking of making a kit and trying it out hopefully a future video!
I wonder if the guy who packed that space blanket is still around, l want him to explain himself lol
Great video mate, enjoyed it.
It was folded so good but took forever to get unraveled lol.
@@dubc3615 haha🙂
could you make a tea out of the pine needles, they contain lots of vitamin C
Great Idea I did forget about that. I think there was some white pine out there also. Will have to do that next time.
must of been a rough night should do one with a newer style kit no coffeee in the morning not good great video my friend
Next kit has to have coffee lol!
That a shame the contents weren't in the greatest shape.. you could definitely survive with what was in it.
It was fun to open and check out and worked out pretty good.
Ya id like to see a trip with a better kit .I know ppl laugh at these kits but you'd make it the night or couple days with one
If I was in a emergency situation I would take one of these kits all day. It is all about utilizing what you can.
It doesn't have any coverage in it and no signalling items.
Which is a bit of a glaring weakness.
Indeed only thing was the lid that was just not enough. Most new blankets have 1 orange side now that helps.
That jerky looks like some kinda like old leather lol
Tasted like it too lol.
Cant imagine trying to eat something that’s older then I am. Hell, I would be just as hesitant if I ate something from 2003 and is just as old as I am
It is pretty crazy in other videos I have been able to eat brown bag MREs from the 90s. Some hold up some do not.
You are never so far away from civilization that you can't get pizza deliver from Dominos...
Soon they will be probably delivered by drones so very true lol.
mmmmmm smoked water lol
That's the bummer of low wall cans when boiling the smoke infuses. Also can be dangerous using low wall with esbit stoves cause fumes will mix with food or water. So always go with taller mess kits if you can.
According to Survival on Purpose the fire starters taste terrible! But in all seriousness DO NOT EAT.
Agreed they do taste bad. Thanks for watching.
Keep sharing master, full support 🎉🙏
