Funny to see a review of the Danish MRE. During my former service in the Danish Army and current service in the Danish Home Guard as an Infantry man, I've had my fair share of these meals. Pro tip; if you eat the biscuits first they act as clog in your a** so you don't have to go no. 2, for 24 hours. 😉 There's actual 2 versions of the MRE, a wet version and a dry version. This is the dry version, where you need to add water to the hot meal. The wet version, has a chemical bag where you add water and a pouch inside the bag heats up and you put the hot meal bag inside. The chemical reaction from the water and pouch, creates heat hot enough to warm the meal in 15min.
Glad to see you have a Danish review up there. They can sometimes be hard to find but the amount of interesting Orifo items they contain makes for an interesting ration. I think i have reviewed 2 of them and love them. I think i need to try some more since i have not had one in 2 years. Thanks for sharing Dub C!
We used to call those survival biscuits :) they were slightly different when I ate MRE's but most are the same. Like the tag on the box, "property of the defense, do not resell." Use to have butter in them, use to mix it into the coffee and chocolate for a quick pick me up. Survival biscuits, chocolate, nuts, and raisins were on the move as uniform snacks.
As a dane whos been in the millitary i can tell you we eat its much diffrently! since we dont have alot of time we just trow alot of the stuff into the bags bags and goes by the motto "it taste like calories"
I have always wondered of you take extra food with you just incase you dome across a ration you don't like. The amount of food in this one though even if you didn't like one meal you were loaded to the gills so would have been all good anyways. I love the amount of goodies you get in these.
This looks great! And it looks cold! I had planned to head out for my first winter camping this weekend, but it is 5 degrees with wind chills in the -20s, and I pretty much just do rugged camping, so I opted out! I have a Minotaur Arctic ration I was dying to try, but it will have to wait! Love your reviews!
I would strongly recommend Americans trying out rations with metric measurements to have a correct way to dose the portions. As one used to using metrics I could eyeball that you used to little water in the beef and too much in the soup right off. The pate´s and fish are to be put on top of ryebread and then can be handheld eaten without getting it on your fingers. Jam for the biscuits. I saw another guy having close to same ration but with dinner as spaghetti bolognese and without tasting the dish nor the spicy sauce, he squeezed the entire spicy sauce into the dish and ended up having smoke coming out his ears. It´s a spicy spicy sauce he he.
Hi Dub. Can't beat the US wheat snack bread, other than maybe with this ration. The fruit bottle is pretty cool. I have a Danish ration I need to get out and try. Can't remember what menu it is. I like porridge, with sugar. It is nice having it in a few different bags. It does help with neatness. Take care and have a great day 👍
I think you will enjoy that Danish ration very HQ items. The porridge I think you will really enjoy cause it is very sweet but also hearty! Thanks for watching Tracy.
The danish army is not very big, but we excell in logistics. We understand the fact that a wellfed soldier is a content soldier. A soldier on the front line is willing to go through almost anything...Provided he has a full belly and a safe place to rest. The toothbrush is pre-pasted because getting to clean yourself thoroughly and properly does wonders for morale.
That ration looked really good , but I wonder about cost . Eat really well for a day or eat for a week on more affordable mres. Planning for the future is expensive, guess it depends on how you want to survive. Really wish us mres would include their bread even if it is rye. Good review 👍 enjoyed it🙂 thanks Dub 🙂🤐😎
Only thing I would have wanted was a couple more sugar packets and either some dried creamer or a tube of sweetened condensed milk. I kind of wonder if NATO and the EU are influencing member nations on components. If so, I like some of the individual nation choices, but it would be nice if you were a member of a multi nation operation to know you had something's the same in every ration pack.
A tube of SCM would have been great also. Sometimes I think cost is the issue on some rations. I think anyone fighting for the country should have good nutriant food that boost morale.
Oh yeah Denmark. Orifo comes from Denmark. Actually the Scandinavian area is pretty good. Btw, have you ever had a Dutch ration here? Maybe but I don't recall lol ;-)
Do you like cocoa and coffee ? I like it cocoa and coffee in my opinion chocolate and coffee taste quite good and extraordinary chocolate and coffee are most suitable when it's rainy season and when it's snowing 🙂.
Looks like an amazing ration interesting how the stroganoff was different from what we usually eat but thats why its so fun to try different countrys versions 🤘🔥🎩 thanks for sharing dude enjoy your weekend
@@dubc3615 As a conscript in the Danish army, I can say that the beef stroganoff is one of the best, at least from what I've tried yet. There are also variants with heating bags, like American ones. The drink pouches and jerky are worth gold when trading. We usually put the chocolate in the breakfast and the soup in the dinner. Great video, funny to see foreigners review them, in a non-tactical setting.
im glad we feed our soldiers good ! even our healthcare system is freaking great =) they knew how much soldiers need to eat per day to keep going ! I bet in the field many would trade for a Danish RME anyday =P ! Im glad to see our soldiers dont eat dog food =)

French mains are great and very hard to beat but I do favor FD over the can. However the French RIL does have some FD mains that make that better then RCIR to me.
Cost is the reason US rations are not so great. Us troops plus humanitarian rations mean that uncle Sam isn't paying more than a few bucks per. In other countries with small militaries thanks to the US umbrella they don't have to shell out millions of dollars and can afford "better" meals.
@@TheRealJackOfTrades I did watch a show a few months back and they were in the Department of defense military food testing lab.. they were testing some pretty good looking food for mres.. maybe some of them will come to a mre in the future!
@@TheRealJackOfTrades .. Well to be fair, then Orifo is a local Danish company, which probably makes it quite a bit cheaper for the Danish military to add all this stuff to their rations, in compare if you were also paying for longer transport and other cost of having it imported.

Personally the blackcurrant minis is my favorite. Glad you liked it
When the army is small [but effective..] enough that it's worth spending an extra dollar or two per head, per day - lucky troops.
I love how the bold black letters on the box directly translates to "Property of the Danish Army - Not to be resold" hahaaha

Cool video as always 👍 that looks like an excellent ration for sure. Hope your enjoying the Hot tent. Looks great 👍
The hot tent works great I think the RBM will be better for negative temps but I need to test this one more.
That was a good ration !!!! A variety of food, thanks for sharing this one...

The black tea and orange cake made a good combo. The main sounded tasty! Lots of great of items. Thank you for sharing Dub C. Blessings 👍🏼
The quality was very hard to beat all was very fresh and delicious. Thanks for watching David.
Pretty nice kit. I was thinking that Stroganoff didn't look like what I was expecting when you cracked it open. Glad it still tasted good.
It was a nice change up that really surprised me but I think it was better then what I would call normal.
This was a great video the black current topped it off all looked great
Thanks for watching I really liked the black current drops.
Man, you certainly found a great menu there! Glad you’re getting some great camping. Stay well my friend

This review was very well done. I was so impressed I ordered one of these rations. My daughter insisted on the chili con carne so we went with that.

why dont the humanitarian rations have a heater bag
Not 100% sure but I think it would help the meal a lot to be hot if you did not have the resourses to warm it up.
Really not a lot of cals for a 24 hr field ration
Almost 4000 is not bad but in cold weather the more the better for sure.
