It's great watching a dad share his knowledge with his family, and the great relationship you all have.
Kayla, you've got a great dad to teach you all of this and you're a great pair. Just think of all of the young women out there that are learning so much! You may not always be in a position of making repairs yourself, but you will ALWAYS have the knowledge of how an engine works and you'll know if you're being treated fairly.

I remember my Dad correcting me that electric are motors, gas are engines.
Rebuilding an engine is a big task, but when you brake it down step at a time it becomes doable.
Great job, great teacher.
It's great to see a young lady learning how to do this type of work as doing the work yourself will give a great sense of pride in the truck when it's finished and it will save a lot of money in the future when you can do your own repairs and maintenance and even if you don't do it yourself later, it will make it way harder for unscrupulous shops to try taking advantage of you by claiming things need to be replaced when they don't.

Remember my lil hardbody. I bought another engine block, head, and intake. Smoothed the block. Ported and polished the intake and head. Took me the better part of a year working a few hours on it after work. It sure looked good when I was done.

As even as she was with her spray pattern painting the block I bet with little practice on an old hood or a door i bet she could paint her own car. I have done body work and painted cars for over 30 years and taught many people to paint.
Most people aren't as even on paint strokes as she was. I bet she would pick it up pretty fast.
I think its great all the ladies coming up on youtube building cars and doing the work and learning to do their own repairs.. Thumbs up to her and her father for teaching her. Great job.

Glad I checked out this channel! started watching your dad's channel and then found yours. I'm a big Nissan hardbody fan. Love Ka's I had a 92 240sx with a KA24DE and a 98 Frontier also with the dual cam. Your single cam has come together nicely. Makes me want to get a D21 or another frontier. Keep up the good work!

A small spray bottle helps when building an engine to spray the bearing caps , cams , cylinder walls ect .. with oil or an old oil can . Assembly lube is also cheap insurance when installing new bearings. For the intake get some over cleaner and spray it down with that it will look new again. Great job guys and I can't wait for "She'll Start " aka Darlene !! Keep the videos coming 👍
Some feeler gauges to check ring gap and dial bore gauge to check rod & main bearing clearances are also good ideas.

Wow!! That engine is looking great!! The colours are just right. Can’t wait to see what you will be doing in the engine bay on Darlene herself. You have a lot of skill and are learning every time you tackle something on there!! There are so many guys and gals now that will talk all kinds of smack but they have hardly turned a wrench and definitely haven’t rebuilt a motor from the ground up!! You can say exactly that!! “Yeah, I rebuilt that thing from the ground right on up!! Suspension, brakes, interior, paint, bodywork (when ya get there to finalize it),,,,, every last bit!!! Your dad right there teaching ya with all of his mad skills!! He knows his stuff and how to do it so you don’t get in over your head with excess costs for stuff you just don’t need!
You looked especially nice in the video as well! Not sure how you keep nails while doing that work. My fingers are generally sporting at leas one purple fingernail that will eventually fall off!! 😂😂 Ok, not always, but they would scream and run away if I ever went in for a “man’s manicure “ hahaha. Clap their hands and say “I’m outta here!!” 😂.
