Seiko got the memo that we want properly sized 62 MAS watches. But they seem to be having an identity crisis as to whether they're a luxury brand. They could make an absolute killing if they made a 5 series 62MAS. As it stands, they need to alter the originally brilliant design just a little bit in order to justify price points and not cannibalize their own sales. The result? I'll keep my Seestern homage with its Seiko movement. If Fender don't make a vintage spec Jaguar, I'll keep playing the Tokai lawsuit guitar.
My dislike of the date window is fading as it's not super noticeable at first glance. But I am definitely on the "a MarineMaster has to have 300m WR" camp. Nice review!
@@Andy-ys8sj they are the stats that seiko give so if you get one that is +14 they will not do anything about it. Seiko need to have the confidence in their own products.
Getting a bit boring with how they seem to spend most their energy on homaging their old existing designs, doing small bin part changes to their lineup and hiking the prices.
@TheCalibratedWrist I'm gonna buy this beauty end of this month 🤞 I had bb58 last year but sell it because date is must for mee and bb58 was little to boring 😒I saw this marinemaster on AD it's a beauty of finishing this right here gonna be collectable on future 🤌
I have to agree. Most of the Seiko divers over $2000 should be priced around the $1000 mark. Seiko just doesn't make a high quality watch anymore, and they still charge Omega prices for Citizen-level watches
@PocketUau Ouch! Seiko openly expressed, around the time they released the Presage line, that it was their intention to move upmarket, they have since expressed their continued dedication to this effort and I do remember there being an attitude of disdain for being known as a king of budget watches. Dumb move alienating the customer base that you establish yourself upon, this doesn't work for any company in any industry.
Well edited, well spoken, it's a good start.
Thanks for that!
COSC certification is only available to Swiss made watches.
Seiko hasn't increased the prices just for the sake of inflation. You can tell the finish on this model is top notch.
Up close, it is definitely a cut above what people have come to expect from Seiko
Don’t like crystal back. Prefer stainless steel. Good video though.
Thanks. And I also prefer a solid back on a diver👊

Fair enough 👊
Nice work Robi. Have yet to see one in person but I like the look.
Cheers, buddy. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Cheers, Ian. I love the look, but, as you say, there are a few pieces missing.
Why? the original Marinemaster was 200m
@@bootneck4514 modern standard
@@TheCalibratedWristAny Chance to get an Info on the strap in the Thumbnail?
Just to add a correction, this is not cosc, it is +15/-10 spd which is not acceptable at nearly 3k.
Sorry. That slipped through editing😉
The movement in this is way better than the stats you have given, I'd bet its three to four seconds a day, as it was put in old gs

Don't we have enough watches that look like this already? 😂😂😂
Certainly capitalizing on their own trend😉
watch should be $1000
A bit weird that a MarinaMaster only has 200m WR, But not a bad looking watch; instead, its beautiful.
I agree with both comments
I like it a lot, but I can get an Oris Diver's 65 with IMHO a better movement, on a better bracelet, for less money.
This is quite true
I'd still take this Seiko! Better case, better dial, better looking and great finish would be why
@@expertreviews1112 Honestly, I'd take both!
$2800 is way too much! Check out the spb147
nice watch
Marinemaster with only 200m WR ? Are you serious Seiko ? Love my Tunas, Sbdx017... Real MM.
👋🇨🇵
The name is a bit of a misnomer
Awesome
Thanks😉
Great video! Love thia watch. Is this watch with thick or regular spring bars?
They use the thicker Seiko bars
Question: what is the strap on the thumbnail? It really fits the watch!
It's from Avel and Men: SEAQUAL Port Louis
@@TheCalibratedWrist grazie 🙏
You cant even find this watch in tokyo. Yodobashi doesnt even have them.
Crazy!
How much? For a seiko lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
No date...... No way!
4:30😉
Date placement 🤢
I agree. Not my favourite element...
I’ll do just fine with my NH35-powered San Martin for $180. Seiko thinks its name is worth a significant premium. I disagree.
Understood. There's a world of more affordable options👊

That's what tudor does but nobody complains about en buying 4k+🤷♂️
@@ChaPPie01Very true
When sales begin to flag, they will change their tune...but people are still lining up to buy them

Junk
Nice piece but way over priced
