I understand your problem with shaky video due to the windy conditions, but have you considered rapid cross dissolve between clips instead of those annoying continuous fade to black (or even straight cuts)? it just could make more 'watchable'. Nevertheless, great video.

Yeah, I know...you're right. Bad choice for the editing...it's a combination of editing while in a hurry and the moments in between were very shaky. At that point I thought this was the best option. That's gotta be the best A380 crosswind landing I've seen. Full controlled, quick rudder over to straight and no rocking back and forth of that mighty beast. Score a full 10+ for that 👩✈️ pilot. He either got lucky or he's one of the best.
Willie Gillie I totally agree! This landing was amazing. The Emirates captain/pilot emailed me after the upload of the video. He was totally in control of this A380 extreme crosswind landing during the storm. Believe me. He is a great pilot for sure! Thanks for watching! Greetz

I don't agree on that. There are too many countries where the pilots are not perfectly skilled, unfortunately. Just watch Aircrash Investigation ;-)

There were enough spotters that day indeed. But I haven't seen pics of this landing. I haven't searched for them either. But maybe you can check the forum on scramble.nl? They also have pics from real spotters there. Look for Nov 20 2016 or EHAM 20-11-2016. There are enough English speaking guys there. Good luck! ;-) Greetz

Those annoying vídeo cuts
Was this safe, do they get in trouble for attempting this or do the computers in the plane handle a lot of the trajectory info to ensure it remains on track...
These landings are done by hand because the computers can't handle the strong crosswinds, but pilot's are very well trained for these kind of situations
I've been in a 2-seater many times in a cross-wind landing, but this was an excellent landing by the Emirate pilot !!! Wow!

Good Pilot... Why are thrust reversers deployed on only 2 engines of A380?

because a380 has only two reversers on its inward engines...the wing is so large that the outward engine in most cases on many taxiways and runways is directly exposed to rough surface and grass so to avoid damaging the two outward engines only two reversers are installed on a380. A couple of reasons, firstly its does not need them, a AN146 does not have reverse thrust either. It has a lot of brakes.
Second reason is FOD, on most runways the outer engines will pick up FOD if reverse is deployed.
Reverse does not decrease stopping distance on landing with any of the newer airbus aircraft, they decelerate at pre-programmed rates. If you were to use reverse, less brake pressure would be applied to achieve the same deceleration rate without the use of reverse thrust.

FOD (Foreign Object Debris) would be overwhelming if outboard thrust reversers were installed and activated they'd be replacing engines on every landing.

kougoes, you hit the nail on the head. I think these good pilots are close to being heroes, sometimes with faulty maintenance on older airplanes. But this one was truly amazing to do the crosswind landing on a such a wet surface. You gotta give credit when it's due. :)

Neil Toombes Yes, Sir. This is filmed from one of the most popular plane spotting locations at AMS at the Polderbaan. There's enough Police there on patrol through the day, but serious problems can happen at any airport, fence or no fence. Schiphol is one of a kind though. Very special airport! A spotter's paradise!
