B.. b.. but I'm in a hurry to get off the plane and start my vacation! You sir, seem to be insinuating that it's worth it for me to have to wait an extra 5-10mins for a safer landing situation! How dare you assume that the 129 other passengers and I are better off NOT potentially sacrificing our lives to shave a few inconsequential minutes off of our arrival time! Do you not realize there are cigarette smokers on board who'd prefer NOT to wait another several minutes to get a few puffs off their Marlboros & Newports(or knockoff brands for those who refuse to spend more than $7 a pack for lung cancer)? It's all about priorities! 😁

basic aerodynamics and ballistics - crosswind turns the plane in to a weather vane. In order to maintain stability of forward flight the plane is pointing "forward" into the wind. The effect is vector of the plain remains the same (down the runway) while the nose points into the air flow. It's scary but its the way to keep the plane from rolling over.

So when the plane is just moments away from landing and just right after landing, is the autopilot making all the changes to the flaps or does the pilot have control?

There is definitely some amazing landings there. The pilot that did the go around, he could of made it but better safe than sorry. I respect that completely. The Portugal flight looked like he came in screaming fast. I can tell a lot of these flights aren’t in the US because the wind looks like it’s over the limits of landing safety. Then again I’m not a pilot so what the hell do I know lol. I just love planes.

The 737 had lateral excursions (wing rock) below 200' that exceed stabilized approach criteria. At my airline you would be busted for continuing the approach no matter how the landing worked out. Ironically, the best landings were the MD-11s, the most unforgiving airliners as far as landings go. Nice video.
