Most Dramatic Ever A380 Go-Around at Birmingham Airport (Storm Gerrit)

- Over 500 tons of airplane plummeting like a falling boulder before pulling up to try landing again later on.
Emirates flight EK39 circled around for nearly an hour after this incident before the pilot 'dared' make another attempt to land, in much easier conditions when the strong gusts and squally rain had subsided (01:24 in the video). 28 December 2023. - Наука
Instantaneous lift power after shear event - just wow! Wonderful camerawork.
I gotta love how that blackbird is completely unbothered by all of that.
He landed first time so wondering what the fuss is about
@@bhxairspot6830 Haha, perfect!
black bird, not blackbird.
@@sonovadob Not in my experience
Crow!
That is some majestic piloting! Nose gear straight on the centerline.
They would have been following the flight director
I was the controller in the tower for that and my exact words when I seen the nose drop were “oh fuck” 😂 great capture.
I think you should have run for the fire escape before taking the time to say "oh fuck".......
Wow incredible footage! Only real aviation enthusiasts brave such weather. Thanks for filming. Just subscribed ✈️
Thank you! It was one of those days when it's ok most of the time but when a squall hits the area you can hardly stay standing.
That is called a difficult day to land an A380! Great shot man! What a windshear on final! Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video work sir. Sometimes standing around in the wind and the cold gets you a good prize.
Yeah, this one should go viral.
Amazing how much power those engines have to instantaneously lift such a large and heavy aircraft that quickly when its not safe to land. Wow
Very impressive camerawork! The shooting angle is superb!
Bravo pilot, good job. Cheers.
Beautiful!.
why do i love planes so much?
Jeeeeeeeeze dem wings r so big
Super incredible footage of the A380 overcoming crosswind in a heavy downpour 👏👍
That is/was poetry in motion. Bravo to cockpit crew. 👏
Can’t imagine what that felt like as a passenger 😨
Great airmanship; great photography. Always amazed at that huge rudder, also the really very uneven runway at Birmingham. Amazed at the front end view of the A380 as it slows on the runway. Thanks very much.
СПАСИБО БЕСКОНЕЧНОЕ ПИЛОТАМ СЛУЖБАМ АВИАЦИИ И ВАМ )))) С ЧЕЛОВЕЧЕСКИМ УВАЖЕНИЕМ ))) Infinite thanks to the pilots aviation services and you ))) With human respect )))
🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩😇😇😇
whoa, very cool catch there on the first approach! :)
Even the bird on the light stand was impressed...
I have only ever landed in a Wide Body Aeroplane (Lockheed Tristar) at Birmingham once, in the late '70s, diverted from Heathrow because of Fog and I watched the little circle at the end of the runway pass under almost immediately the engines went into full reverse and we eventually stopped and we turned onto the taxiway at the other end of the runway immediately so I had the impression that the runway was not very long. Seemed to be the same here as well.
Impressive video, thankyou.
It has been lengthened since to allow for larger aircraft such as this but, it still feels short!
I never thought aircraft could fly sideways!!😳😄 Pretty wicked cross winds until they got closer to the ground.
Fabulous machine, fabulous flying!!
Nice... the fact that mighty winds can prevent these behemoths from landing... awe!
that plane is simply amazing . love watching it
Bad weather at BHX ..I'm shocked, great pilot 👌
Great videos. I've liked and subscribed. Regards. Derek, Halkirk. Scottish Highlands.
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Great performance ❤
The crow didn’t even blink.
the a380 back at bhx? great to see man. Great video
The bird's low speed ailerons, raising and lowering its feathers like the fingers of a leader commanding it's subjects to do this or to do that, taking charge over the winds of confusion...😊
Amazing footage! 😲
well done thanks for the content
"Plummeting like a falling boulder"...That made me shudder....
great video, would this A380 be piloted in or on auto in this instance?
I think manual would be used when wind conditions are very difficult, but comment from an A380 pilot would be interesting.
Nice advert for Emirates Airlines
The most heavy airplane seems to float on air so slow so majestic
They just love Birmingham! UK.
8 A380 flights around last Xmas produced 4 go-arounds here - this one's the most impressive
@@bhxairspot6830 being just below the flight path ,the summer schedule when planes are lower are special
0:45 windshear go around!
Yes, and they didn't risk it again for nearly an hour
Didn’t go around though did it!
Awesome too see a plane that big diving fast then sharply pulling up so that the wings nearly bend off 😱
Awesome 👌
Impressive!!
❤ Emirates❤
Very cool!
Great Call!
Respect the whole crew...don't complain about nothing....
Good catch!
It was a bloody windy day. Trees down and power cuts here. Not far from where you filmed.
Thanks, and yes it was a mixture of fairly quiet spells and vicious squalls - the Emirates caught one of the squalls
Great shot !!
what a beautiful machine 😍
I think that A380 gave up a little too soon on his first landing attempt, but his second approach was stabilized and the landing was spot on. Great job, they did it as good as I usually did it.
I agree. Question do a380 use crabbing technique
@@patkelly6349 they sure do, as seen in the video. Many jet aircraft with their swept wings will land in a crab because of the possibility of striking a wingtip when you kick out the crab and use the upwind wing dip.
@@russhartley4964 thank you Russ
If it looks dramatic from the ground it would be 10x more so in the aircraft. Great rescue job from el capitano.
Emirates, I love you A 380 amazing, EK 261 and EK 262. GRU X DXB see you later
Птичка сидит , пёрышки чистит , ей вообще по барабану
How amazing this all
Blimey, I did wonder if the headline was a bit of clickbait like it often is but no this was dramatic lol
Patience!! Great job!!
I can't imagine what it's like as a passenger under these circumstances. You're a few seconds from touchdown and an hour later, you're still in the air! I wonder what the pilot tells the passengers after the GA.
That's why they get paid "the big bucks" - sometimes for knowing when NOT to do something. Well done.
if the pilot pushes on the throttles of this monster there are forces coming out unbelieveable
A savoir qu'un seul de ces moteurs peut maintenir l'avion en l'air. L'avion peut même planer, certe moins longtemps qu'avec les moteurs tournant
Looks the same as Manchester airport. There's barely enough runway for that giant bird to land on, used the full length
and the full width.
Awesome😀!!
Les pilotes d'Emirates, l'ELITE !!!
British Airways pilots are excellent and they have lovely English accents.
That is one nonchalant crow.
390 tons maximum landing weight....
Beast! Gteat camerawork!
Magnifique. Quel bel oiseau !
Super !
Excelente avion y bien entrenados pilotos.
we all thought in 1970 the 747 Jumbo would be it, then comes this Beast
So by 2100 we'll be seeing a Tripple decker will we??
12B people, think we'll need one by then.
Would you mind if I shared this on my Twitter feed ?
It’s not a commercial thing, I just like aviation stuff.
If you mean a link to it then yes you're welcome, and thanks for asking!
Ok cheers. And yes. The link 👍
O piloto se lascando para pousar e o pombo não tava nem aí, só secando as penas.😅
very professional
Everyone had to change their pants as soon as they got off that plane.
🔝 04:25 🔝 !🐦
4:38 I can tell ya: that crow was NOT impressed.
Monster airplane❤
The flying mosque?
All praying when landing ?
❤
Sweet
A380 forever.
Nice landing 2nd attempt, nice work.
…one bird and another…great video.
All part of a day’s work
Wow no comments. 🧐
That's a big one...🥂
Emirates delivering its daily 500 bunch of "tourists" .
His nose looked down a couple degrees before the puff
Looks like the GS mini function did not work
Great video
Just imagine the stress and fear of passengers
Sitting in a 737 or 320 (or even worse in an Embraer) in those weather conditions is far worse than in the huge 380.
Aaand ..... relax.
Why does the runway at BHX undulate so much?
That camera angle exaggerates it, but it's been extended several times over slightly varying ground.
Unlucky timing - landing just when a squall line is across the runway.
😮
Красиво!!!
Maybe he was a Speedbird???
👏👍✈👋
Maybe he was a speedbird
After that first go around:
"Attention all passengers, this is your AI pilot speaking...speaking...speaking...speaking...speaking...speaking, etc".
Log it.
holy shear.... that plunge!
