Absolutely loved it! I thought well this sure isn't three minutes of aviation😂 I can see maybe the only problem is choosing a favourite which is fairly easy with 3-min but on this occasion, while there were a few in the running, I prolly enjoyed the Skiathos go-around one fairly early in the vid the most albeit for a slightly weird reason - I liked seeing it leave a trail of "coal" (although not "rolling coal"😂) - a sort of filthy acidic diesel-y brown haze after the PF flicks the TOGA switch which I think delivers like 106% of max thrust so one imagines that whatever are the jet equivalent of the triple twin choke carburetors are shovelling in the jungle juice like billy-o😂😂❤❤
It actually looked like he had flaps 1 or 2 out. The slats were clearly extended, and I think I see a degree of flaps or two hanging out behind as well. Impressive either way though 😁

Damn - That A380 go-around probably used more fuel ...than I use in one year instructing on C172s, Seminoles, and PA28s :) Even the 50 pax CJR I flew was a real fuel hog under 10K-- So, would love to hear from a A380 pilot - What's the fuel burn at low flight levels, and an estimate for a this go around?
I rather enjoy the longer episodes. When a plane makes an emergency landing without flaps, what do the passengers know? Are they in crash positions? Or just seatbacks and tray tables in their upright position?
A no-flap landing is actually easier to execute than a full-flap (or whatever the normal flap setting is for a particular situation) landing. The only real hazard is the greater landing distance. If the runway is long enough, then there's no real problem. A shorter runway will necessitate more braking, so hot brakes could be a concern. But the landing itself is not inherently hazardous. I don't know how different airlines' policies dictate what the passengers are told. I'd suspect that most would either not say anything or say that a minor problem required a different landing procedure, but that it wasn't a concern.
You're videos are nice already. You don't need to use click bait thumbnails or titles. "Landing goes wrong" means the plane crash landed and half the people were killed as they couldn't get out... What you have here is "Landing didn't go as planned" or "Aborted landing".
At the end of the day all the vids are here because they bring an unusual element to the viewer. I’m sick of seeing clickbait comments. I love both types of vids. Sometimes I only have four free minutes. Thanks Lucaas.
The late gear retraction seems to be a common thing these days with quick turn arounds the brakes are still warm so they usually take off, fly at 180kts for 5-10nm @ 4000ft then retract when the temps are lower. Quite regularly see it at EGCC.
www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/MMEL_B-787_Rev_18_Draft.pdf MEL 26-17-01 Fire protection Basically on the 787 you can fly with inoperative wheel well fire detection as long as the gear is left extended 10 minutes after takeoff.
The sound of those four A380 engines, spooling up to go around, was intense, like four lions roaring 🔥🔥🔥🔥!! And the shape of those Spitfire wings is so beautiful ❤
New Zealand citizen here. That amphibian landing on snow happened in the province of Central Otago, near where I live. It was all over the local facebook pages for a while. Audacious, yes, but ski planes and snow landings in our Southern Alps are routine - we have a similar situation as Alaska; glacier landings all the time.
1:55 I love how you can see how on it the pilot is by how quickly they deploy spoilers. Not even slow enough to get the front gear down, but since they're way overspeed, braking is prioritized.
7:21 Neat. The registration code indicates the plane is registered in New Zealand, and I reckon that in spite of the snow, this video was probably recorded there too. Some parts of the South Island, and higher-elevation parts of the North Island, get snow, of course, but it's still not something you'd typically associate with New Zealand -- I don't, and I even lived there for several years! 😸
Probably already mentioned: the Lufthansa 380s were doing training rounds after re-activation to get pilots licences renewed and training. They do that often at airports such as Leipzig/Halle as seen here in the video. The narrator is totally wrong.
Maybe it takes too long to start the engine? or it needs to be disconnected? but wondering why the pilot didn't back up when the tug caught fire. Or maybe was because of the risk of ingesting someone into the engine?
powerback manoeuvres have been banned for a number of reasons, but in the given situation I think it would make a lot of sense to perform as far as I can tell. all the usual concerns associated with a powerback not (as) valid.
What do you guys think about these longer episodes?
Quite enjoy them! We get more aviation content that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. What’s to hate?
great!
I’m All for it you do a great job by the way

Crazy how the Qantas pilot managed to do a smooth and precise landing even without flaps
All of the no flap landings seem to be perfect
They train for them
Yes but FAST!!

I will never support the company that interrupted it with an ad.
The Spitfire is a really beautiful plane, great aerodynamic design and an amazing engine.

Love that roar of the rolls Royce engines
Much better.
The clips were high quality too.
Good work
Wow, you really can tell that non-flap landing speed is higher.
Thanks for a bigger than normal weekly dose of aviation! Always look forward to them.
@7:50 looked kinda risky with that slope coming up. Impressive!
Beautiful footage, and the longer format is great! Thumbs up!

00:24 bro that sound is kinda scary
It’s the engines rapidly spooling back up to go around power and it might sound a bit different due to the turbulent air
Just some good ol’ airbus engines
Airbus don't make engines
Enemy pilot: This is a one circle fight!
Raptor pilot: Casually flatspins down, popping flares in lieu of middle fingers.

Not sure I'd board a plane with HZ-ARD as a tail number. 🤣

7.10: Maybe the pilot did not retract the gear because the wheels were hot so he could try to cool them in the airstream???? Just a thought here.

Less narration and less dramatic mischaracterization would be better.

You can hear the 4 engines growl when the pilot puts the thrust levers on full! What a sound!
Planes don't immediately retract gears normally because the brakes are still hot and they are just cooling them down before retracting.
