@@woodygould recorded for Dawn - f abulous album with John McLaughlin called "Where Fortune Smiles". "How Many Clouds Can You See" on Deram is another. I saw John play with Karin Krog singing at a Melbourne gig in the 80's and he was just wonderful.
@@woodygould he made records for lots of other labels but had to take what was on offer and ECM made one to him. it is Eicher's wishy washy production that makes him sound like he does on the ECM recorfds. He is much more fiery than that.
David Pepperell, I’ve followed Surman, on and off, since about1973; I think a lot of his ECM work, particularly on records where he’s not the leader, has been good, and in some cases stunning. His work on BarrePhillips’ “Mountainscapes” is IMHO as good as anything he’s done.
Amazing, what a line up, world class and what a tune :)
Absolutely brilliant! My kind of jazz. Luuuuuuuuuuuv them!
What a find ! ...... now if only someone could come up with some footage of the John Surman/John Warren band playing live .....
Mike Osborne should be recognised as one of the greats of Jazz saxophonists

the Trans-Taiga road, ahem, not expressway!
Fantastica musica! The best british player of the period
Ottimo, tipico jazz inglese '68-'69.
Basically an augmented SOS Band. Fantastic! Ossie is the king of alto.
The best xx
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙂
my kind of jazz, British!
Questo eccellente esempio di jazz britannico fine anni '60 tipico della sonorità ECM che diventerà popolare negli anni '70.
Reminds me a bit of early Magma
The bassist starts at the exact tempo, then the drums enters and forces the tempo a little faster. Weird...
Fantastic early ECM style jazz music....

@tulrob not at all!
Referring to this genius performance as ECM style is an insult. Its full of fire not full of wimp!
David Pepperell really: what other label recorded more of Surman and Wheeler?

David Pepperell yeah, but there’s at least 10 records with Wheeler on ECM, and more than 40 with Surman on ECM.
