Hadn't heard that before. Loved his playing especially on Money Bag. Can't help thinking that Soft Machine would have been a better path than the one he took in the late 70's.
@@johnetheridge6884 Wow! Small world! Nice project, I will get it for certain. I actually met Mr Holdsworth at NAMM 2012. I was star strucked, first time, last time. I could hardly talk to him. The worst I had just invented an Iphone holder for guitar he could have probably criticized and help me out. The product is called guitar sidekick clips to headstock on strings and I still have about 300 in my basement. Fun product! Peace out.
@@johnetheridge6884 You've always been willing to chat at gigs when you've had the chance. Seem like a very decent bloke to me and probably just as well as you are in my top five favourite guitar players. :)
oh man i remember , the best soft machine album : with john , compositions , guitar solos , ...a great guitarist ! called softs ! a greaaat album !
Legendary guitarist
Eddie Van Halen was, influenced by Alan..that's how good he was.
EXACTLY. Most people don't understand this unfortunately.
Allan also recommended Ollie Halsall to Soft Machine, not just Etheridge.

I had a guitar lesson from John Etheridge in the 80's in London, he had a horrible rude attitude. I never forgot.
Sorry to hear that….We had a great day recording him and he was the sweetest person you can meet….
Hi Simon ...I'm very sorry about that ..Can I apologise 35 years later ? I'm not usually rude ,so I can't imagine what was up !
