Thanks a lot, Enrico! EQ is the key. As for the reverb and delay, I think I can refer to the previous video (on clean sound). Thanks once again!

in this case i just used a random stereo delay around 500 ms with 4-6 repetitions with the feedback and a bright Plate reverb

@@MrTarlecon i´ve tried to reach something similar, just with analogue equipment. deluxe reverb + transparent overdrive + delay and an eq. i found out if you dont push the gain on your overdrive too far over 2 o clock and roll both the tone knob on your overdrive pedal and guitar very far back, not till complete jazzland ofcourse, but pretty far. you will then have a really muddy tone with a lot of bass, buuut if you completely eradicate the bass on both your amp and your eq, and push your treble and upper register on the amp and the eq really hard you´ll start to get into jazz overdrive / holdsworth area. my idea of the holdsworth tone is atleast a tone that is soft but at the same time can pierce through the mix, a warm bottom that is not bassy and that resonates, and a thick top that definetely pierces through but has some core to it that doesnt sound thin.
last step , so that you can give your amp a bit more volume to work on is to use your guitar volume button as a gain, push the amp volume until its a bit too loud for playing, then roll your guitar volume off to about 7/8. this for me is atleast the decisive moment in getting the holdsworth/jazz overdrive tone.
now i´ve not nerded on how holdsworth did it, so this is probably not very similar , technically speaking. but it sounds awesome and is probably replicatable on all equipment, as long as youve got a tube amp and a transparent overdrive.
I also tried to model this tone after late 2000´s kurt rosenwinkel, cause he sounds very similar to holdsworth during that time. so my approach is probably a rosenwinkel meets holdsworth kinda tone hehe.

Thank you! I met Allan on several occasions here in Southern California in the late 90's. Recently I talked over the phone with Bill DeLap, since I acquired one of Bill's rare classical guitars he made in 1982. Turns out from our conversation that Bill DeLap was the builder who actually designed the Carvin/ Kiesel HH1/ HH2. (I see you own one as well). Allan took the design to Carvin, they modified the horns, and used it without Bill's permission to fashion the Carvin/ Kiesel Holdsworth model guitars. I own one of Allan's personal HH1 finished in the gold color (changed the pickup to a P90 hot rail). ruclips.net/video/cy-K3G0qPQ8/видео.html. Anyway, I thought you might find this interesting. Sending you all the best from Southern California. @@italianguitar

Again thank you for sharing this with us. Holdsworth was the biggest influence on my playing. But I could never find a voice on guitar that I liked. This may be the closest I've gotten to something with a sound I like. If you care to listen. 🎸 ruclips.net/video/faz03rjCstw/видео.html
