Given that Allan passed only a month after this interview, it's really nice that he got to hear and react to the praise given by the cavalcade of guitarists. It was also heartwarming to hear that he'd mellowed and was able to accept the praise and not come back with his standard "I'm sorry you had to hear that". This was a great interview and a must for any fan of his.

I disagree with your opening comment about Eddie Van Halen being a visionary guitarist. Although van Halen was exceptional, he was not visionary, and he absolutely revered holdsworth!

My understanding is that it wasn't the last interview he ever did but it was the last long form one and also the last time he was ever recorded.
