No joke, this sounds incredible. The inherent fartiness of distortion on bass low end is completely cleaned up of all mud. Great tones!

This is by far the best demo of this amp so far. Many of the others have sounded awful and flubby that really put me off thinking about one. Now it's back on the list to try out. I'm really glad you try some clean and lower gain tones too. I had a MT900v1 and even with the cleans adding a tiny bit of the B3K sound made it really come alive harmonically.

The Microtubes X was my favorite of their pedals. It was a perfect bass distortion in my mind.

      Agreed.
I went with the basic X as I'm a bit married to my Eden WTDI and didn't need the X7 & X Ultra. I
The X & WTDI combination is epic.
Both my drummer & guitarist have said "Just leave that thing on all the time."

Same! I’ve had a x ultra, then it took a crap and they didn’t repair it so I got the alpha omega and just wasn’t feeling it so sent it back and got another ultra then got the photon and always go back to the X ultra. For a few reasons I’m hesitant to buy the head tho, using my SVT 4 pro it’s difficult to stray away from that beast of a head

100% agree on the mixing knob. I’m really missing this one on my X Ultra 😢 Was hoping, that it would be added to the amp

This amp sounds killer. 😎🤘🏻🎸 I totally dig the punchy metallic tones that the x series provide and this bass head has such cool tones. Clean and distorted.

X series is a bit too much for me. I'm using a Microtubes 500 v2 plus an Alpha-Omicron pedal and am perfectly happy with that as it does have the ability to also give me some more oldskool driven bass tones. X will be perfect for proggers and other modern metalists out there though, it does sound very good within its playing field. I remember before Darkglass came around getting a proper driven bass tone wasn't easy as there hardly were any pedals back then suited for bass and our overdrive/distorted tone was usually muddy and lacking power to punch through mixes. So thank you Douglas Castro and crew for setting the standard back then and leading the way for bass players. Kudos!

Of course, right after I paid off my microtubes 500 v2 from sweetwater... In my opinion the X7 has the best engine and is the heart and soul of my sound.... Damn it bro, take my money...

Nice video was wondering a few things. I play through headphones because I'm not in a band. Was wondering if the pedals can create the same sound the amp does? Also, you seem to have an ultra-aggressive attack, was wondering if you set your action high or how you prevent fret buzz? That Dingwall is super clean, loved the simplistic yet complex look of the thing.

I have Mt500 v2 at the moment and when you use headphones (I run my bass into amp, DI -> sound card -> headphones) it just miss that headroom which is really important to me. But I have to live with it bcs I just can not run that amp with cab at home. I think that pedal will have same issue. But hey, darkglass have awsome gear! I hope I helped you a little bit.

@@ichbinblitz7129 You did and I appreciate it, I think I am going with ampeg. I am looking for the gritty tone used in punk music. I plan on trying to do something similar to a heavy metal beastie boys.

Are you able to do a clean tone video? We’re trying to decide if this is right for our band. We have songs that require the distorted tone, but also need smooth low end with bright mids tones. Something like the tone in Save Me by Shinedown.

To me no gain on the bass fréquences is not à problème, what I would prefer is t9 be able to have a separate output for bass ans treble.

thats cool and all but whos going to want this over the inifinty which does all this and more but into whatever amp you want
like youll probably use a footswitch with it anyway so its not like the all in one unit thing stops you needing a pedal, and youd probably want to put noise gate on front of it too if you use a bass with single coils so again your not traveling without any pedals

These amps sound great. Sadly, mine (alpha omega 500) randomly overheats and shuts down even at relatively low volumes. It has already been out for warranty repair once. 😢

900 watts of get fired from a gig lol. Guys, we’re bass players. If you want to play guitar then go be a guitar player. But these amps and pedals that distort the bass to the point that no one can even hear it in a mix? You can spend less and get a much more useful bass amp.

    • @LeownskieR
      @LeownskieR Год назад

Totally agree, sometimes we need more "velvetness" in our setlist than distorted noises but that gadget goes right to the trash trend I guess, not bad. Guess also the audience will ask for pump down the 900 watt low end as well 🤣 so can talk to each other

Most of these demos target metal-y bass tones, but they can be dialed back. The standout feature of this particular head, the “x” variety, is that it only distorts frequencies ABOVE a cutoff of your choosing, so you keep regular lower frequencies if you like.

You obviously haven't felt the bottom end these beasts maintain while saturating the highs. They crush through mixes and are extremely versatile.
You don't need to crank the gain sir, step down from the soap box
