Yes, it is possible to defeat Wesker through the use of hand to hand combat only. All you need is a Combat Knife, Flash Grenades and Chris' bare fists!

Video game logic: Chris hurts his hands (pay attention to the animation) while beating the crap out of Wesker, yet punches a boulder much later on without any issues.

Looking back on it, Wesker is actually the best Chasing bio weapon in the entire series. Its just too bad he is weak against Chris Redfield. Somehow he can dodge bullets, but cant Dodge Chris's boulder punching fists.
And in the cutscenes he beats Chris embarrassingly easily, yet somehow when you play against him he forgets that he can dodge bullets and get up and walk away from a 500 foot fall lol. Ridiculous

great video mate! i don't know why in this game chris focuses only on boxing and karate. let's take an example that straight punch in Resident Evil 5 were chokuzuki punch and the straight kick were from mae geri and karate the other melee moves were boxing,judo and etc. it's too simple oh and btw the judo melee only work he throw jill valentine on the ground in this chapter, the name of the judo form is ''Seoi-otoshi'' in case you didn't know bro.
Chris focuses more on Boxing, Muay Thai and Judo in this game. His fighting style is pretty efficient here and I really like how Chris is such a versatile fighter throughout the series, always displaying a great variety of styles.
Yeah, that's the Seoi-Otoshi throw he performs against Jill, I already knew that but thanks anyway buddy! :)
If RE characters have named their fighting styles
Chris - MMA.
Leon - Kyokushin Karate with elements of Taekwondo and Aikido.
Jill - Savate.
Sheva - Taekwondo.
Wesker and Jake - Kenpo.
Hunk - Military Unarmed Techniques.

And this is why I state the Leon would lose in a fight with Chris. Pretty sure Wesker was shitting blood for the remainder of his life after that beat down. Chris even taunted him throughout the whole fight, it was glorious.
In a realistic fight Chris would destroy Leon, and I mean a fight without plot armor or game mechanics, just base on their skills and feats.
Some people say that Leon is too fast for him, but that's bs when you remember that Chris was fast enough to dodge Wesker's attacks and catch him with his own blows, so if he's capable of going hand to hand with a dude who can dodge bullets then he for sure would land punches on Leon easily, and if he can punch away a freaking big boulder then he could break Leon's head into pieces with just one random punch.
So, Chris would be faster than Leon, or at least as fast as him, and could end the fight in any single moment with just one punch.
A knife fight could go either way and maybe Leon could win, but in a fist fight Chris would annihilate him.

What’s crazy I’ve played and beat this game and I don’t remember none of this? Covid fried my brain.
For someone trying this and finding dificulty this is RE5 from steam version, the re5 from WGFL it's way harder than this one, since wesker can stun lock u with infinite leg attack or he just tank the knife hit and throws the kick, trying this on re5 gold edition was totally piece of cake bom WGFL half of knifes attacks don't work and half of the time sheva just die to jill cus her AI on GFWL it's preety broken(they made better on re5 gold edition and lowered the dificulty on some bosses(wesker included))
Some people may not know the diferences but wesker on WGFL has diferent attacks bigger hitboxs, bigger damage and there's no invencibility time from getting hit so he can easily throw like five attacks at once and beside that, look how his character can easily get out after throwing the punch, on WGFL u are stuck for almost 2 seconds while wesker not which means he can always hit u if after the punch, so don't try this on WGFL switch to gold edition

Even during the Spencer Estate fight, when Chris is getting the upper hand over Wesker, he literally says to Chris "I can't lose! Not to you!". This "Not to you" just leaves us with the question, is Wesker okay with losing? Or he just can't stand a defeat against Chris?
I honestly think that Wesker can't accept a defeat at all and losing to Chris just makes things worse.

@Starscream91 He does have some health limits there, I've beaten Wesker to a point where a single knife slash was enough to bring him down to his knees for a good 20 seconds... And only using Chris's bare fists and the knife hahah
That QTE can be a surprise but I always keep my distance after each strike to avoid it, it can be tricky.

By the way, that was a great strategy, I've been playing RE 5 a lot lately. This week I've finished it like 4 times already, this game is so much fun, next time I'll try your method.

Chris has also been seen dodging weskers attacks and you see in this fight that Chris can 1v1 him now, not to mention RE5 was originally going to be only Chris so Chris won either way.

Something about punching wesker just made me enjoy the game that much more. Used to play the game so much to the point of having all weapons unlocked as well as infinite amo for them(including the rpg), to getting all trophies for the game on ps3 and now im almost done doing the same on the switch. This game will always hold a special place in my heart tbh

Is there a trick to timing the flash Grenades such as right after landing a straight? Also why do you wait so long to do the combo after he is stunned?
No, as soon as you knock down his sunglasses you can use a flash grenade.
I think he did that combo by humiliation rule where you let the one who fall get up as a sign of 'mercy' only for them to be humiliate them afterward

You just have to understand Wesker's attack pattern and time your knife strikes perfectly. Once I learned this method it never fails, even when I stop playing RE5 for months.
It just requires practice, you can do it! :)

I will always hate the fact that if you think about it Wesker could win this fight so easily...same as the fight with Chris and Jill vs Wesker. I mean Wesker can beat up a wall like nothing and throw missiles like they were snowflakes and move with the speed of light dodging bullets like it's nothing and in the fight scene it's like he is holding back. Chris Jill and Sheva normaly wouldn't have survived Wesker's punches let alone win the fight. I guess the damn storyplot is the one to blame. But normaly they wouldn't have stand a single change against Wesker.

Chris actually is the peak of human condition. Wesker got powers but Chris was the closest you could get to superhuman, plus he had huge motivations.
