  • Some of my favorite hip stretches that enable me to obtain high kicks! If you do Taekwondo, Karate, or some other martial art that emphasizes kicking, this video is for you!

    I’ve been doing these stretches for more than a year now. I was suffering from back pains and was desperate for a solution and somehow found this video. I know it wasn’t meant for back pains but I thought being flexible would alleviate some of the pain. I think it did more than that. Life is so much better when you’re flexible. Thank you Donovan!

    OK this actually works omgg!
    I've been doing this exercise for about 4 days and I can already feel a good result. I'm doing this with my other workout viedos and I'm so happy now I can kick higher than before with less pain ! Thank you so so much 💗 you're a life saver !

    I have bad chronic lower back pain and I've noticed how tight and weak my hips are and I'm thinking that if I fix them then my pain will subside. Thank you for this! Straight to the point and no annoying distractions.

    I’m so one sided - I only concentrated on my left leg to much ahaha I’m too bias and now my right leg is being neglected. Went to do a side kick and my left leg was high up to my head and my right leg went barely half way. Lol I felt so humiliated in class and this is why I’m here ahaha

    Hey Donavan, just wanted to say that your videos are amazing and it shows your deep complexity in basically high level TKD training. I'm a straight guy, but I do respect people from other orientations when I see one. And you take the cake, and there's not many around like you to be honest.     Hello My Friend,
    I have benefited greatly from your expertise and feel obligated to thank you personally for this. The years of countless hours of work you spent to develop the cleanest, crisp, most technically superior kicks I have ever seen a man perform is obvious. But what I am thanking you for is the simple explanations you provide in your videos, particularly the Spinning Hook Kick (which has given me glimpses of control in my own kick I have never seen before after 15yrs of mixed martial arts). I have also chosen this video to comment on as it makes obvious your sexuality, and due to content won't likely be your most viewed broadcast (everyone wants the show but few actually want to do the work). This in no way takes away from your skills, but in my opinion provided you with the tools or motivation needed for a male to surpass or equal any man or *woman's* kicking prowess (I'm not sure if you know that about yourself). In the realm of neatness, control, and technicality you are spectacular sir- period...
    That leads me to my final point, which is meant to be funny so please do not take offense (please remove this comment at once if it offends you in the slightest). I had a friend years ago who was gay, and a hip hop dancer. He worked so hard that in terms of quality, he looked better than any of the girls did performing the same moves! In fact, he wouldn't stop until he did. So it comes as no surprise to me that it's a gay guy who has the prettiest kicks- lmfao!
    If you take anything from this I hope it is my wholehearted gratitude for what you have given me.

    Hi Donavan i used to do loads of Martial Arts including Taekwondo since a baby over the last 10 years I've not done much, watching you has inspired me to get back to training After 11 weeks i have got back my box splits and not far from side splits only problem is I'm super sore for days after training, what would you recommend for recovery??

      Hi, Random! Hope you are still practicing. I'm a Certified Yoga instructor and Black Belt. Do your dynamic swing stretches before class, then do long hold stretches (30 sec to one minute) immediately following your workout; esp. those areas that get sore, like your quads. Blessings!

    Hi, not sure if you still check old videos for comments but I'll chance my arm. I've recent started Taekwondo after many years away from it and I'm finding I'm having real difficulty with any side kicks. For example, I can do straight legged front rising kicks, crescent or axe kicks to head height quite comfortably. However, if I try to raise my straight leg up sideways, I can't even get it to waist height. I have the same problem with kicks that need a side on chamber movement, such as side kicks and turning kicks. I've no idea why there is such a discrepancy in my flexibility. Anyway, would this routine help or should I be doing something much more specific for side kicks? Great video by the way, I love your tough love attitude 😂.
