The reason Apple and all other smartphone companies don't seem to be innovating anymore is rather simple, phones are a mature market. As you said, there's only so much you can shove into a glass slab before there's not much else that can be improved. Nowadays, it's mostly software that you will see updates in with very marginal upgrades to the hardware. Even cameras don't receive significant hardware upgrades because they're limited by size, they'll instead be improved through improvements in image processing. You shouldn't be worried about how these companies "don't innovate" because they're making drastic improvements in software, and people don't buy phones that much anymore because it's sort of like buying a car. You don't buy a car every year, but once you do buy a car after a few generations and revisions, you will see those improvements. That's what sort of market the iPhone is in now.
However, back on topic, you should be concerned with how much they are willing to push software and how much it will integrate and act as a parasite on our lives. These companies will of course seek to occupy and obtain as much information about you through software, and they will absolutely have all the information they could possibly ever want with VR sets.

One correction: Apple was not the first company to produce a phone with 2 cameras. LG Optimus 3D and HTC EVO 3D both came out in 2011 with dual cameras. There are lots of innovations that apple was late to adopt and that other phone companies had on their phones years before Apple did. Lots of people hold on to having iPhones because they don't want to get used to a new system and, as you mentioned, because of the FOMO.

Whoops, we never hear of this, apparently. Junkies have been buying Windows for 25 years, hating every version, but still buy it, because they are used to it? Windows being late adding features? Console level graphics (ps3-ps4), hardware ray tracing, Nvidia level dlss, just to name a few new features. He obviously doesn't understand chips because this is huge. I’ve had an iPhone since the iPhone 7 when it came out. I generally get a phone every couple years, and I don’t get the newest one. I jumped to the iPhone XS when the 11 was out because I broke my 7, and the XS to the 13 mini a couple months ago because my XS broke as well. But doing the jump between phones like this makes the improvements more noticeable. The XS didn’t have 4k 60 fps recording like my 13 mini has, as well as the hardware improvements, games just play so much better than my old phone. People shouldn’t get a new phone every year, I think ideally people should have a phone for at least 5 years or until it breaks beyond point of repair (repairing phones should be easier and cheaper tho)

I can understand the discontentment regarding lack of progress with each model, seeing it as boring. However, I remember back 10 years when performance in smartphones blistered year by year and made phones rapidly obsolete. My iPhone 4, at 4 years of age, was begging for death. My current phone, the 11 Pro, at 4 years of age is still kicking. The stagnation meant I don't need to upgrade to a newer phone any time soon and I fortunately see that being recognised among my peers.

      Removable batteries
With a spare you are not tied down to a cable or wireless charging which also uses a cable. You can charge the spare and go anywhere you want
You can charge your spare battery at any speed you want really remember slower charging prolongs your battery life
Since you are charging your spare battery outside your phone there will never be heat buildup inside your phone thus prolonging your phone which is great for environment
If you charge your spare battery at a slower charge you prolong the battery life span and won't need another battery for longer period of time instead of just charging fast constantly on one battery.
Since the phone uses removable it is already half opened basically so it makes it waaaay easier to open up. I could upon up my LGv20 is basically 4 minutes you just unscrew 20 philips head screws and that's it
There are special phone cases you can buy for phones with removable batteries which lets you use much bigger battteries
On my LGv20 I use two 8600mah batteries
Which is way more then the current max we already have reached which is 6000mah on these newer phones released.
So you could have a bigger battery on a smaller sized screen phone.
The LGv20 is only 5.7 inches in length and packs a 8600mah battery.
I could actually get a case that would have enabled me to use a whopping 10,000mah battery and have the phone still be small just more fatter.
These are all the advantages you get with removable battery. Essential the fastest charging method to any phone period especially if you get two spare batteries you will never have to be tethered to any cable I assure you
I currently am using the Xpreria 5 ll and this phone doesn't have a removable battery which I dearly dearly miss from my LGv20 I used before the Xperia.
I love the Xperia 5 ll just greatly miss having a removable battery
It is indeed the best feature off all time on any phone and greatly greatly helps the environment
There's only so much resources out there we have to reserve it as much as possible and phones not having removable batteries is the worst thing on a smartphone you can have
Plus we now can easily back everything up on the internet... so really... do we need IP68 rating phones anymore?
I been using phones for over 20 years and have yet to drop my phone in any water.
Either way let people decide if they want a IP68 rated phone or a phone with a removable battery

Besides the island and supposedly longer battery life I’m not noticing the same amount of difference then from the 11 Pro Max to 13 Pro Max. Or the 7 plus to XR. Good phones regardless but I’d say waiting every 2-3 years between an upgrade is probably the best not only financially but Technicality standpoint.

The Apple event only secured my standing when I could see that there was nothing groundbreaking to incentivise the device. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Apple is still going through with the 60hz screen on a high end flagship phone for their standard models despite the crazy pricing.
My only takeaways from the event was usb-c, 3nm chip, and slightly better cameras. All their other 'innovations' are features that should have come to their phones 2-3 years prior.

Throughout their phone generations there is clear incentive in upgrading to later phones for specific features.
Of course, other competitors also have their innovations which apple has taken or given but the main takeaway is that these are features that pushed the phone market.
Imo, apple currently lacks innovation as there is nothing that currently drives people to buy new phones in the saturated market. Apple used to be the ones driving the market, now they are playing it safe and slowly incrementing past features and presenting them as the 'new' innovations.

The reason I’m in the Apple corner on this is just how long they will push the newest updates to their old tech. The latest 17.4 iOS update goes all the way back to the iPhone XS from 2017/2018 or so, and conveniently I just swapped from a XS to a 15 and everything was pretty much the same, just a bit smoother and snappier. I expect the 15 to last me until 2030 or so unless something drastic happens and I’m forced to buy a new device.

I really depends from where you’re upgrading , me for example I’m currently using an iPhone 7plus which I’ve had since 2019 , and soon I’ll upgrade to a 13 soon and that’s a massive step , tho I can understand that someone who upgrades yearly would be fairly disappointed

The video is absolutely correct, but my question is 'what did you expect?'. The smartphone went mainstream around 2008-2009 and the market grew rapidly, the product category is now 15ish years old, no wonder new releases are minuscule improvements. Steve Jobs himself said that a product category tends to stall after the first 10 years of development. Even innovative tech like foldables is not really a game changer, except for internet personalities, almost every single person I've ever come across irl that has a foldable tends to admit it is a total gimmick and for their next phone they will switch back. Honestly the market has finally reached the point of not being worth upgrading every single year, maybe the idiots that have to get the newest, greatest thing will actually use their phone until it's dead.

I would expect them to maybe allow sideling, landscape mode on the home screen which they've got rid of ever since they introduced the notch, expandable storage, to bring back the headphone jack, a desktop mode

    • @SIPEROTH
      @SIPEROTH Год назад

Foldables feel like that because they are not there yet. Unless you eliminate the crease and make a screen that can be strong like a glass screen then it will feel like a gimmick because it is too sensitive and has a clear annoying flaw.
There are many way to innovate though but manufactures just stopped and only do what is most profitable.
Remember how many phones tried different things to eliminate the on the screen camera at first when screen because the full face of the phone? So many innovate things with plenty working great yet everything stopped because they discovered they could still sell just fine by having a hole on the screen.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees this. I’ve been using the base iPhone 13 every day for the past two years and every release since then has been uneventful other than the cameras getting bigger and dynamic island. The iPhone 13 still feels very modern and up to date, despite now being two releases behind.

I think the iPhone 11-12 was the last decent upgrade. It bought, 5G, an OLED screen, much better battery, thinner bezels, new chip, and new edged corners.

As someone who uses the iPhone as one of my main cameras for my videos, the small incremental upgrades to the cameras video performance from generation to generation have been a great boost to me personally as for the rest of the iPhone, since the iPhone 11, its basically been the same since.

    • @robertceron9056
      @robertceron9056 Год назад +6

Yep thats because iphone 11 and iphone 14 is just refinement period. 15 was the a small leap in camera because of the other phones are already offering this, so I strongly believe the 8th or 9th are the best phones within each generation as refinement is over and now its the next technology advancement. However Apple and other phone companies know this so they arent adding 8-9 years of support on a phone because hardly anyone would switch from their phones.

You should use android cameras, then iphone later. Android right now has top of the line cameras, but apple only has 48 mp vs samsung's 200 mp. Ik mp isnt the only factor, but apple has to pretend like they made a change every year by gradually incrementing the camera performance, so just stick with android right now. But don't if you don't have the budget
