    Long Beach, California - On May 30, 2023, at approximately 11:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Livingston Drive and Park Avenue regarding a report of a stabbing. Police Dispatch received numerous calls for service, with calling parties describing a male adult suspect, armed with a knife, actively assaulting and stabbing people. Officers arrived within five minutes of the initial call for service. Upon arrival, they located the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Mario Najara. Najara was armed with a screwdriver. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation; however, Najara began walking away from them. Officers continued to talk with Najara in an attempt to get him to drop the weapon, however, he then attempted to enter a residential property, at which point the officer-involved shooting occurred. Najara sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers rendered medical aid until the arrival of the Long Beach Fire Department, who transported Najara to a local hospital in stable condition.
    The preliminary investigation indicates Najara was involved in three separate incidents prior to officers’ arrival.
    - Najara physically assaulted a female adult and a male adult victim in the area of Park Avenue and Livingston Drive. Both victims were treated at the scene by Long Beach Fire for lacerations.
    - Najara continued walking into Livingston Park and approached a male adult victim holding a child. The suspect assaulted the adult causing the adult and child to both fall to the ground. While the adult victim was on the ground, Najara stabbed him multiple times in the lower body. Both the adult and child were treated at the scene by Long Beach Fire.
    - Najara continued walking towards 2nd Street where he encountered an additional male adult victim. He stabbed the victim in the upper body. This victim was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire for a non-life-threatening injury.
    Officers later learned the suspect was armed with a screwdriver; it was recovered at the scene of the officer-involved shooting. Najara has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, and one count each of attempted murder, robbery and resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer. Bail has been set at $1,000,000. The stabbing victims, meanwhile, all sustained non-life-threatening injures.

    Just a side note. When you are calling 911, the calltaker is typing in all the information and forwarding it to the person who actually dispatches the calls so it may seem like they are delaying sending anyone while they are asking you questions but the reality is that units are being dispatched right away. If they ask you more questions, it's to get as much info as possible which is being updated to dispatch which in turn is being updated from dispatch to the officers while you are on the phone so don't get on the calltakers thinking that they are delaying sending officers because you think they are asking stupid questions, as I've seen with these other video's.

Police should be able to articulate the reasons for their actions and they should be protected under the law to some extent, but there are plenty of officers that abuse that power all too willingly and they make it hard for officers like these here to do their job. All things considered, this man deserved what he got and will live to see a courtroom and with any luck, a long sentence in a jail cell for taking others lives as something he can just take away. Allowing him to travel through the breezeway of the Wells Fargo building where he could’ve easily stabbed someone else is yet another example of how the current climate against police has resulted in greater public endangerment. The officer would’ve known shooting him was justified to protect the public, but he was too afraid of the loud mouths who don’t have a clue and, consequently, being vilified and possibly even charged criminally. You can’t really blame him, but I’m just darn glad no one else came around and that he decided not to stab the guy in the parking lot.

    • @DutchFurnace
      @DutchFurnace 11 месяцев назад +3

      Agreed. While there's no way of knowing the officer's reasons, I always get anxious when a police officer, who has a gun themselves to instantly protect themselves if the criminal were to take 3 steps towards them, lets a criminal with a knife take a walk around the neighborhood, passing several civilians that could have easily gotten grabbed, making the officer losing any clear shot, while the civilian is getting stabbed.
      I read about a case in the UK, where a criminal already had 9 undercover police officers following him around, because he was such a threat and they knew he was going to end up doing something, but had nothing in the law books, from a PC point of view, to do anything about it, till he had 30 seconds to stab two people before the undercover police all around him, had time to react and execute him on the spot.
      That seems to be the new police culture nowadays, because defining someone as a "threat", if they're not seen actively committing violent crime on a (white) civilian, is offensive. As long as criminals don't threaten the state/police protection bubble and simply point their aggression away from the "monopoly on violence", police will have to follow criminals around, while they walk around the neighborhood with a knife, and wait for them to have their 30 seconds of violence on a civilian, and proof they are a possible threat to the bubble, before police action goes straight to execution. While of course they would have gotten deemed a threat if they had merely tweeted something offensive directed at the bubble.
      That's the state of law in many parts of the US and Europa. If you're white, only way a "threat" will be deemed a "threat", and be dealt with as a "threat", is if it's recorded violence against you. Although, here in the Netherlands, a couple weeks ago, some "youngsters" beat up a guy and threw him on the train tracks, all on camera, and they simply said he tried kissing one of them, off camera, and they're all going to get away with it. Or how that nurse in New York couple weeks ago had her rented bike stolen and became the "threat". All because we all HAVE to believe those thugs aren't a "threat", in any way shape or form, till they commit recorded physical violence in an absolutely clear and shut 100% sure one sided case where they indeed were the suspect.

Trying to gently persuade someone to stop and drop a weapon while they are actively involved in committing an assault is ridiculous and unnecessarily places people in danger. We need to reverse this mindset in our law enforcement institutions and meet aggression with aggression. Act immediately and eliminate the threat! 😡

The narrative is wrong cops didn't protect you, the 4 people stabbed here know like always they make a report after the fact, they are not heros, you are your own agent in your defense.
