That is not correct- police can be prosecuted if a criminal is not an immediate threat, as it should be. I've seen many instances where police give 10-15 commands to a suspect to drop the gun, and commend them for saving many lives.

The armed customer did nothing wrong in this situation. The fact that robber was using a fake gun is meaningless, no one else in that situation knew until the guy was taken down. The armed customer not only protected himself, but he also protected the other customers and employees of the restaurant from a man perceived to be a threat.

FYI. The robber's name was Eric Eugene Washington, who was sentenced to 15 years for armed robbery in 2013 (a robbery in which a man was killed). He served only 6 years and was released on parole in January 2021. Apparently, Washington was not a changed man.

Robber had done this multiple times. According to his own family, it was how he got his money. He had done it a lot and even served time in jail. His mom might say he was gonna turn his life around the next day, but none of his actions ever indicated that.
He got a job after he got out of prison. So that's something. The mom even said she understands what her son did was wrong and the shooter was justified in killing her son.

While it’s great that he took action quickly and saved people’s lives potentially, we cannot ignore the fact that he was clearly going for the kill on the robber. He shot the robber in the head and then felt the need to shoot 3 more times. He fully executed the robber.
If someone seriously threatens your life, with the means to fatally kill you (in this case, he presented his “weapon” as authentic in what he was doing with it, mainly threatening others), you have every right to protect yourself. No one in that situation could have known that the weapon wasn’t real besides the robber.

That is not correct- police can be prosecuted if a criminal is not an immediate threat, as it should be. I've seen many instances where police give 10-15 commands to a suspect to drop the gun, and commend them for saving many lives.

There were moments during this robbery where it was indeed self defence, but when the robber is walking out the door is no longer self defence. The armed customer did nothing wrong in this situation. The fact that robber was using a fake gun is meaningless, no one else in that situation knew until the guy was taken down. The armed customer not only protected himself, but he also protected the other customers and employees of the restaurant from a man perceived to be a threat.
The hooded teen was forced into life of crime because of systematic racism and didn't deserve to be murdered by a trigger happy white supremacist. The white guy will probably serve life sentence for this while the teen's family will likely get millions of dollars in fundraising as compensation. FYI. The robber's name was Eric Eugene Washington, who was sentenced to 15 years for armed robbery in 2013 (a robbery in which a man was killed). He served only 6 years and was released on parole in January 2021. Apparently, Washington was not a changed man.

I knew someone years ago that robbed a convenience store with a toy gun that looked real. They were charged with armed robbery because the clerk and everyone else there thought it was a real gun. This man had no way of knowing whether the gun was real or not which makes this an armed robbery. Robber had done this multiple times. According to his own family, it was how he got his money. He had done it a lot and even served time in jail. His mom might say he was gonna turn his life around the next day, but none of his actions ever indicated that.

While it’s great that he took action quickly and saved people’s lives potentially, we cannot ignore the fact that he was clearly going for the kill on the robber. He shot the robber in the head and then felt the need to shoot 3 more times. He fully executed the robber.

If someone seriously threatens your life, with the means to fatally kill you (in this case, he presented his “weapon” as authentic in what he was doing with it, mainly threatening others), you have every right to protect yourself. No one in that situation could have known that the weapon wasn’t real besides the robber.
If the robber was shot as he was coming into the restaurant, I'd agree with you but he was on his way out. He was clear about his intentions and I don't excuse a fake gun and so if the shooter had killed him as he was walking in, then he ( the robber had what was coming). I don't agree with shooting the robber as he was leaving the restaurant because he wasn't a threat.

The guy shot the thief five times, and the thief fell to the ground dying, the customer gets up, points down and shoots them for more times, and then pointed a gun to his head and shoots and kills him. The guy clearly felt a flood of mad and sad emotions upon learning it was a fake gun but the shooting was justified. That said, I still mourn the life lost even if he wasn't a good person and I know the shooter will struggle with the guilt forever despite it being justified.
