Defeating Primal Dialga Without Taking Damage in my FIRST EVER Playthrough of PMD: Explorers of Sky!

- A highlight from my Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky let’s play. While I know this is something that can easily be done (especially as I'm allegedly rather overleveled here), this was the very first time I've played this game and of course, that means the first time I battled against Primal Dialga. Bearing that in mind, this was a special highlight from any of my videos I've made so far! In fairness, Riolu did all the hard work, Piplup was mainly just there for support in the end!

It is a very good strategie too confuse Dialga with attacks or just use Smokescreen to let him miss nearly every Attack. This works with many Boss oponents and eaven the Thieves in the game.
The same applies to the pmd1 bosses
Not to mention roar of time would harm him too if he uses it, at least if I recall correctly.
I just threw a vile seed at him, abused smokescreen, had my partner constantly set up protect, and I beat the shit out of him while only using four of my twelve reviver seeds.
I’ve always preferred throwing a vile seed then mashing the best move between me and my partner
Starting out as Charmander (not by choice), Smokescreen was a life saver. Such a broken move for how early you learn it.
This guy is any npc in a Pokemon game with a status move
Quite literally an npc but yeah i guess
@@Skumrasketyeah no, he meant the guy playing lol
last time i battled dialga, i had literally the same team (Riolu as main character) and the whole fight consisted of me eating a grim seed, preparing a power punch and just straightup onehitting the god of time.
A little boxing puppy onehitting the god of time. Hilarious.
Grim seed? Do you mean violent seed, because I dont think there is such thing as a grim seed
@@oodogla in the english version its called violent seed
This fight can only go two ways, you wipe, or sweep. And God help you if you wipe cause going back through the upper tower is a bitch and a half
As a kid it took me SO MANY ATTEMPTS. I gave up for like 4 months because I was so sick of oding the tower over and over again
I got softlocked the first time because I got stuck up there without enough resources to push forward but was too underleveled to take him down (also I had a horrible type matchup for my team). So my response was to start the whole game over and stockpile every reviver seed I found throughout my entire game and save them for that one fight. I had eight pages by the time I was done. He still took out 2 of them.
Doing 100 dmg an attack waylays Dialga, but if you’re stuck as doing 30-60 per attack, hoo boy you’re in for a rough time.
@@alphastronghold715
You do know that you could have gone back, right? (Ok you probably didn't know ^^")
Anyways you can actually go back and even return to the guild and do missions, go in the Dungeons or train at the dojo and buy stuff, etc.
Lapras will wait at the beach for you until you decide to go back to the hidden land.
The other Pokemon even have special text telling you that you can do it and that you are the hope of the World, stuff like that xD
So you weren't really locked, all you have to do is instead of going up, just to go down, then you are back at the start of the tower and then you can go back to the start of the hidden land, talk to Lapras and it will give you the option to take you back to treasure town ^^
@@Feurigel1806luckily in this game they figured that out... because orginal when on the run... not so much lol
@@alphastronghold715 confronted to the same problem, I chose the path of violence and stubbornedness. My team with treecko (me) and torchic. Pretty shitty match-up for everything between me and PrimoDialga.
*I was lvl 56 when I first beat Primo Dialga.*
Lucky he didn't rip a Roar of Time into your soul
Your Luck In That Part Was Hilarious
He got so lucky with the first water pulse confusing that the game thought it was fair to miss some moves and then when his partner got a para with force palm the game decided to balance it out by having him miss even more 😂.
@@davidstratton696 Lmao exactly
He was so confused that you thought you were a match for him, and then so stunned that you actually were, that he forgot to fight back.
This is your reward for having to endure the Porygon-z's discharges with a water type main character 😂😂
the true final boss
Fr bro. I did my playthrough as totodile and had to go through that tower 13 times xD
I played through this as Riolu, the beauty of hitting Dialga with over 1200 damage will never dull. I stunned him, ate a violent seed and used Focus Punch, it was beautiful
Bruh I could have sworn Dialga just spams Roar of Time wven when confused. What the heck is that AI.
Just goes to show how much confusion will flip whoever has it over
Imagine, if you will, that My riolu, with the iq ability to instantly charge and use Charge moves, used focus punch on Dialga. He does 700 damage and instantly killed it.
One Punch Mon
Damn Riolu carried
When your luck is at 1 while your partner's luck is at 10
Dialga casually getting Bullied by two absolutely chads who decided to take on Goliath for the 3rd time in a row!
I’ve done this fight a number of times, and each time is different. First time, I had a Shinx and a Turtwig, which mean literally no unresisted moves. I also didn’t know how to use seeds that well, so I only had two reviver seeds (I think I had 8 to begin with, but they were all eaten up during the Tower climb). The next time, I was Riolu with a Vulpix partner. I have three words: Focus Punch, Imprison. Absolutely busted. Then, I was Pikachu and Eevee. Agility and Discharge are amazing, and Adaptability is friggin great. Most recently, I was Shinx and Turtwig again, but I had literally 20 reviver seeds. Also, I had Charge linker to Thunder Fang, which is…a powerful move.
This is what actually happened in that breakdance animation gameplay wise😂😂
My first playthrough of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky(before I started a new game), I kept getting clapped by Primal Dialga. I was so happy when I did eventually beat him. I was Chimchar, and my partner was Piplup. When I started a new game, I was Pikachu, and my partner was Chimchar. Playthrough was easier because I was Discharging enemies. Got annoying when there would be enemies with the Lighting Rod ability.
Good god seeing this both brings back memories and pains of 10 year old me. First time I played was PMD: explorers of time and I played a Meowth and partner was a Mudkip.
I remember that game was so hard in my youth as felt almost like younger me version of dark souls as would have to struggle up the spire over and over to reach primal Dialga who would one or two shot me or partner so often.
Little me struggled so hard and when was dealing with the last story boss Darkrai in dark crater between my struggles back then for being meowth, darkrai lackeys, darkrai sleep nonsense or just Criselia (forgot how to spell her name). Me and my partner mudkip were level 90’s when complete that from what I remember.
Then came explorer of sky and felt like a blast and mostly a breeze and to this day I question if I got much better in the game or the game was much easier then time/darkness tho that time I was a Shinx with Mudkip being my return buddy cause at the time that was my favourite starter Pokémon
I think it’s a bit of both. There are a lot of assets you forget to use when you’re young (croagunk is broken and yet I didn’t even touch him my first play throughs). But they also added a lot of things to Sky and I think modified some drop rates which make it a bit easier.
This game remains in a placr of my heart
Back when i was hooked up with the old red rescue game that i got almost every pokemon in my bases, this storyline was amazing
I remember years ago on my original play through I one shot him by accident with focus punch and smth else my partner (treecko) used
Saaaaaameee
I just kept using Force Palm
last time i did this fight i had Riolu as my MC and pikachu as my partner. Back then i was the type of kid that only wanted attacking moves, no status.
Struggled with the story groudon, not as much with dialga
My first playthrough, Dialga spammed Roar of Time and only used that move. On one hand, it couldn't move every other turn, but I lost because I ran out of Reviver Seeds. The second playthrough, I used Focus Punch and one-shotted Dialga.
I can totally see Tommy following Wulbren’s plan at the end of the game lol
I've done this fight it's always different. Sometimes, I beat dialga easily with lucky status effects. Other times, dialga wipes the floor with me and sometimes I only just beat him. I know you can use hunger & xeye seeds to trivialise this boss but they really did a great job with this
The Get Skitty’d strategy: battle starts immediately eat a violent seed, throw an x-eye seed, then Sing Dialga to sleep, feed your partner a Violent Seed, and start Wake Up Slapping. Took no damage and it was over in three hits LOL
Those water pulse misses are tragic
My strategy, or at least the one I learned back in the day, mentioned learning dig which would do a crap ton of damage!
My younger self is incredibly angry i could never beat this as a kid
Other strategy is with Pikachu. Use Agility first turn, the speed boost allows you to act again... so use agility again which boosts your speed enough to use another move on that same turn, so use agility again.
Do this until your speed is maxed.
After you get attacked, you have 4 attacks on your opponent.
that was impressive!
I remember as a kid i nearly one shot dialga with a single focus punch from riolu
The first time i fought dialga, he just spammed roar of time and tore through all my reviver seeds. I couldn’t even get close enough to hit him once lol
Most reliable way to defeat diaga id definitely the x eye seed. Bro just walks around the arena doing nothing
You either cheese or you get cheesed
And here i thought a violent seed focus punch was enough to finish it without damage.
literally 1 shot with x-seed to violent seed and focus punch
Dialga juat pathetically pops out of existence
There's also the exploit of Stun Seed from a Shinx then use Charge at least 6 times, and then having a Torchic partner with Mirror Move:
Dialga used Roar of time and deals 3 damage to Shinx, and Torchic nullifies and reflects back Roar of time, dealing over 90 damage to Dialga...
The moment you realize the person right here playing this is actually op against dialga. The moment piplup took a step back… 😮I never knew
Meanwhile me, who has failed like five times in a row with a Meowth and a Totodail, when I was playing this game for the first time, after also dying so many times in the temporal tower dungeon xd
Well... Now I've gotta play explorers again
During my first ever playthrough i managed to one-shot the poor bastard by throwing a stun seed and using a bulk-up buffed focus punch, that was ginseng boosted by about 3 or 4 points, and to top it all off it was a crit, it dealt over 1k damage, not to mention that it was literally my first ever crit on the entire goddamn playthrough, it felt simultaneously final but anticlimatic.
My last playthrough I had Eevee with a partner Riolu and this fight was a total joke. All it took was spamming Helping Hand and Sand-Attack (linked) while Riolu just absolutely destroyed him with Drain Punch and Focus Blast.
(I didn't have Agility yet, btw, I was only Lv. 36)
the level of rng you had lmao
Well, NOW i know where all my luck went when I was fighting him like 13 plus years ago for over five real world hours in reattempts. That’s hours in the boss battle, not counting the hike back to the top of that freaking tower. My luck decided to go explore a different time and leave me the freaking darkness!
During this fight I spammed smokescreen as cyndaquil while mudkip used water pulse, I think I gave Dialga smoker lungs lmfao
You were quite overleveled there. I don't remember beating dialga with more than 40 levels ever
Same fr. My partner was Vulpix and I just had her use Confuse Ray. Easy win.
fun fact: multi hit moves are so op that I beat dialga at level 33 or so with 0 reviver seeds using violent seeds and bullet seed, which still dealt 70 damage with each hit despite dialga taking 0.25x damage from grass moves
My strat was violent seed focus punch and it worked
If Riolu has focus punch and or focus blast it can one shot dialga without doing any set up. Focus punch is better tho so go with the punch
is it me or you can literally cheese the whole fight with the seed that give hallucinations? like it last at least 6 turns, and you can just use that seed, a violent seed and then demolish the whole fight. i'm after darkrai and to this point i beat every single boss without taking any single damage. It helps that i'm using pikachu with discharge so that i can clear all the minion bosses with 2 attacks
I spent over a year on this fight as a kid..... I feel cheated
Chatot not being an asshole? Hell yeah!
Wow. Congrats on that
you are a lucky guy for not getting hit and getting lucky with first turn confusion 😊
You could do it even faster with a stun seed and focus punch Riolu
Riolu MC + moveset having Swords Dance linked with Force Palm, gg
It is so ridiculously easy to game the bosses in the Explorers games.
My personal favourite ways are with Skitty, linking Sing and Doubleslap together, and then with Vulpix, just.. disable.
I legit had boss fights as Vulpix that were just:
(player) used Disable.
(Boss) is unable to act.
(partner) used (move)
(player) used Flamethrower
(Boss) is unable to act.
for maybe 3-4 turns.
Meanwhile dialga burned through my 4-5 reviver seeds and its intimidation iq thing kept preventing me (Charmander) from attacking with ember a lot, and smokescreen would do nothing most of the time as well as sleep/stun seeds, and my partner mudkip did basically nothing that entire fight. Can’t wait to go all the way back through hidden land and the entirety of temporal tower (meaning more porygon discharge hell)
On my most recent playthrough, I had treecko as my starter. My partner is cyndaquil and he's unreliable on some boss fights. I stepped forward to face dialga and I had brickbreak and ginseng boosted mega drain. Brickbreak does well against dialga, and whenever my hp is low, mega drain was the move to use. I was quite overleveled for other purposes. I was around level 50 plus... Maybe 60. Right now, post game I'm around level 75. Might as well pulverize darkrai with a level 100 treecko and cyndaquil...
If you know how the game works and are prepared this fight is decently easy but if you don't you will have a lot of fun
Man the only way I could do it was with a.. vile seed? The one that brings an enemy's stats to the lowest they'll go and then brute force em. Haven't failed yet and I replayed explorers of time more times then I can count
It definitely did not take me like 10 tries.
usually I'd run mirror move on torchic and dig on pikachu
My first time playing I was still getting the hang of type advantages I luckily had charmander as my partner but it still took like 3 times
It almost happened to me. I started by giving him confusing with that water attack too, but this hella boss does a Roar of time and i spent 2 revive seeds. (rip the 1600 coins i spend on them) Without that, he was easier then Luxray's boss in Amp plains xdddd
😅As a kid it took me something like a month to beat it
Yea Dialga is very easy if you have an item or move that causes a debilitating status. If it decided to just spam Roar of Time instead of Dragon Claw tho, you'd probably need at least 6 Reviver Seeds
i am just using stun seed, Violent seed and focus punch (any Pokemon that can learn focus punch is op)
it can one shot Dialga if you have correct setup
Damn you are SO under leveled. You should be level 75 by the time you reach the grovyle escort mission when you're in the future.
I defeated Dialga just Last saturday. I was a lv 34 Mini grovyle (forgot englisch name 🙏) and my Partner a riolu.
Stun seed on Dialga, violent seed for me and riolu, debuffseed for dialga, sleepseed for dialga, disabling everything of riolus attacks except Power Punch, and boom. Power Punch did Something around 450 dmg and i finished it with this multiple Hit grass Type attack which name i also forgot.
Poor thing got violated
Treeko, and Bullet Seed.
@@MountainMemelord
Exactly. Thx
@@Mr.Nahe.Dortmund You're welcome.
Probably leaf blade?
It's not a hard fight if you know it's coming and prepare. You only need one super effective move. If you want to be extra set you grind for like ten minutes first.
I swept the entire game in less than an hour as a kid.
As awsome as this game is maybe Prima Dialga needed a second phase, purrhaps in a future pixel art HD tamake he could have his past form from Legends Arceus
Sleep and bomb seed
What is the +1 by Water Pulse ?
Yo im started playong mystrey dungeon to get some memories back o see that ur lvl is 45 whil mine was 31 how did u lvl so fast if u grinded at the dojo it would have been takes days right
How on your first try it took me so long first time
What do you use ,phone?
lol your way of talking is random af but its funny 😂
i used the x eye seed
Lol I beat dialga in one hit lol at the first try
Is it possible to play on phone
Bro u level 46…. Me at this point max lvl 30 🥲
😂😂
Is it mod?
Honestly boss fights are one of the weakest points of this great game
Your also over leveled
You’re lvl 40+
Look at grovyle - you’re out leveling him haha
Bud, you made it easy on yourself when you trained.
Next play through, try beating the game by fighting the LEAST amount of enemies
My first pokemon i ever played
Was pokemon sun and i picked litten and i don't regret it
As a kid i needed like 30 tries
