bro, 8 year old me could not comprehend even comprehend the scale of 99 floors. This is really damn hard game even now
We used to gather round on the playground the guy who'd unlocked Lugias cave and watch to see how many floors he'd complete, never got to see Lugia :(
Yeah I played this when I was 6 and I always ran out of food on these 99 floor dungeons.
same bro my DS Lite can't handle more than 30 minutes of gameplay even on lowest brightness because the OG battery are weak.

Gen 3 did not miss with the post game stuff. Battle Frontier, Sevii Islands and Mystery dungeon. Mystery Dungeon also did it the best

There was also recrouting Celebi. They're in a 99 floor forest and will join you instantly once you reach the end.
Unfortunately, the guide I was using never mentioned it… Bulbapedia never comes through 😂
Oh yeah, Purity Forest is the hardest dungeon in this game, it would've been amazing to see you tackle it or at least how it went for you.

Yeah Joyous Tower was a crazy hard dungeon, especially since it's so rewarding to find absolutely nothing after conquering 100 floors and an empty belly…
If you didn’t know, Gengar is the human that was cursed by Ninetails. Gardevoir was his partner and she took the hit for him.
That makes more sense compared to what I initially thought 😂

It’s why he goes out of his was to make the player character get chased out of town by the other rescue teams but in a way he makes amends… like when he helps Alakazam and Xatu make the Teleport Gem to get the player to Sky Tower (Xatu or Alakazam mentioned having a ghost type pokemon help them) or when he “drags” the player into the Dream World after the Rayquaza mission (really he saved the player) There’s other stuff like when Gengar used Dream Eater on the player while they were talking to Gardevoir, she mentioned something about the “intruder” leaving tearfully or something like that…. It’s a really good subplot of the mystery dungeon games bc it can be easily missed unless you’re paying close attention to what Gengar says throughout the story.
You forgot the most challenging task in the game... Recruiting Keckleon!

@@fractalgem The tactic I used is as follows; first of all I took a Friend Bow with me, located a Kecleon Mini Shop, then I would locate the Stairs, then I used that Orb that marks every Pokémon on that specific floor as a red dot, then I proceeded to attack that devilish reptile. Made my way to the floor with the stairs and waited by the entrance for them to come through in waves. This way I only had 1 or 2 to worry about at a time, and since I was a Pikachu I could Thunderbolt 'em diagonally. Took many many many dungeons but in the end, he joined the team!💚
If you wait to talk to Spinda until after you recruit Ho-oh, a different version of the cutscene plays out where they realize "you're" the Mirage Pokémon.
Also, the reason Ninetails is mad at Gengar is because he is the human from the legend during the main story about being cursed by Ninetails.
Legendary post-game, too much to do
I would argue it's still better than any other post game from the PMD series. Especially everyone's beloved Explorers.

@jtalkalot19 The 99 floor gauntlets are not the most fun. I believe Explorers has a decent post game-quite long too.
@@SerenadedArk Sounds like he meant besides story stuff- all of Explorer's post game is part of the story, so as much as I love those games, I get it. You beat Darkrai and then it can kinda be like "sooooooo.... now what?"
You forgot Purity Forest, the hardest dungeon in the game which makes you recruit Celebi.
Also there is Joyous Tower, the only dungeon to recruit Chansey (even though it's not story-based).
I was a trecko as a kid & thought grovyle was just a older me in the story I was so confused in mystery dungeon darkness

Guess next is the explorers of the sky post game and episodes. I had a lot of fun getting to Darkrai and seeing all the storylines before and after the main story to really flesh out the cast.

I loved having a big group around my base of Mankey and such making it feel like a real guilt while sky I enjoyed having maliphy as a little buddy in my side area. Wish after the missions were done we could choose to keep these features
I was so shocked when mew joined knowing how low the recruitment was and immediately used an escape orb, so i woundt lose mew
I remember getting Mew as a kid in this game, I was sitting in a doctors office when I recruited the Mew. I was using a trick where if you read the list of all things that have happened on each floor you’d know your floor has Mew on it if you see at the very top the first thing is Mew transformed into something else
It's actually crazy how much content they were able to put in these games. the main story was already really great and the post game was just wild. I think, i dropped out when trying to recruit mewtu. The western cave was reeeally hard.
They made the remake version of Deoxys BRUTAL. Found out the hard way that i should've turned off auto save

Fun thing about the Mystery Dungeon games is you can actually get all the Pokémon. Main-series always make it a pain in the *se to get your hands on those Mythicals if you're a little late to join the fuss.
What I loved the most in these games were the small environments where legends would hang out after you'd recruit them. What a beautiful pair of games...
This was my first DS game when I was 14. Absolutely brutal postgame for someone who never played a roguelike before. Now Shiren is one of my favorite series
i remember the first time i did buried relic for mew. had no idea the recruitment rate was so small, i spent 4 hours doing it solo with my swampert and got so pissed off i deleted my save 💀💀
Same lmao the amount of times I cleared the whole dungeon but haven't recruited mew once just pissed me off
I still remember everything vividly EXCEPT the last one with saving Gardevoir. First time I heard about it since completing it a decade ago
I think I did over half of these. Some are just unfair especially taking a low level Gengar to the dungeon as he's easy to wipe. Did beat that mission and had a fun time with how the mystery dungeon games were able to tell a story just for and by pokemon
Ya I agree, some of these dungeons are insanely difficult to complete. I think it took me 10-20 attempts to get that Gengar up the mountain 😂
@@TerraQuake1 yeah wish he could get level ups as a temp unit so be can defend himself. Or at least not run through the revive items
maxed out charizard with sunny day, heat wave, x-ray specs and a LOT of max elixirs.
@@ivanbluecool I don't remember it being that bad. Reviver seeds definitely helped, but his ability to go through walls also helped.

Whenever a company other than Gamefreak handles the Pokémon franchise, they always seem to knock it out of the park
GameFreak was peak as well before they tried 3D.
Man.. kid me played the heck out of PMD Red Rescue Team. But I think I never fully completed all the story for every Pokemon however. Currently playing on an Emulator so going to try and fully complete it. 15 years later 😅

I'm a twilight menu and a real hardware person I completed explorers of sky main and post game!
I solidly remember fainting in the Meetwo dungeon at floor 98. I sent all companions home for some reason. That was a harsh lesson throughly learned after playing for 2 hours to get so deep
There's also the very rare munchlax encounter in the pokemon square. Nothing really shows up on how to trigger it and they say it's just really based on rng which sucks
it def is not. i had it spawn like 3 times in a matter of hours on one account and 0 times in a matter of days on another one xD def not rng. even tho it says it everywhere
To this day, I have a vivid memory of encountering Munchlax once and that's it.

@@Foatizenknechtl I've seen RNG like this before. Someone can get extremely lucky in a small amount of time, then get unlucky for an extended period of time.
A lot of games use tempered RNG to normalize lucky or unlucky scenarios from happening over and over again. However I believe that BRT is using TRUE RNG, and true RNG doesn't care whether its seen as lucky or unlucky, it is simply random.
I remember completely finishing this game, I even got the lucario statue placed outside my base when you hit a certain rescue rank 10/10 game
The only pokemon that I couldn’t recruit in Red/Blue rescue team without cheating was Jirachi, Celebi and Kecleon, I’m just not good at dungeons that forces you to start at level 1

It's obtainable as an unknown reward from completing a mission on the bulletin board.

Never did get Mew. Thought I had to get to floor 99. I remember I got to floor 96 just to encounter a monster house and die.

Great video! I loved PMD RBRT despite how finicky it is for being the first installment but never got to play the post-game, so your video is quite useful for me.
Also Treecko/Cyndaquil? No way, that's what I chose too, but with Treecko as the protagonist instead.
I'm playing Explorers of Sky right now (Shinx + Eevee FTW!), and I I think I am finally beginning to understand what the love for the series is all about. Cheers!

Wait so you are telling me there's tons of people that beat the main story of the game, went straight to explorers of sky, and missed out on what is possibly one of the best and most extensive postgames in Pokemon
I don't think most people did that, at least I doubt it, growing up I only had Red Rescue Team until years later my uncle bought me Explorers of Sky and I replayed Red Rescue Team constantly up until that point. Most people probably didn't figure out there was a postgame and wouldn't know until later after they had already moved on

I remember the last thing I did on blue rescue team was go to some dungeon with a legendary and I went up over 100 floors just to die
As a kid, i didnt use the HM for Dive on any pokemon and carried it with me. Lost to Kyogre, lost the HM, then i got stuck...
For some reason after battling Kyogre, I never got that letter from Peliper, I have no idea what to do other than to recruit the other legendaries.

i played the post game, once i got articuno running to the 100th tower floor with sheer cold and mind reader linked was too easy
If I recall correctly if you evolve both your partner Pokemon and yourself you soft lock yourself out of the post game
YOu missed Celebi, Mew, ... and also the legendary pokemon rattata

With the remake i wished they added all legendaries and mythicals and regional variants (paradox too but this was before scarlet and violet were even announced) but hey i still appreciate the end results and redesign and execution.
Is there a reward for recruiting all 386 pokemon in this game? I know that in the main games, they give you a diploma if you complete the pokedex.
After doing a bit of research, I couldn’t find anything about receiving something once you recruit every Pokemon, which is kinda lame 😅

please do a pokemon ranger version of this video (shadows of almia has some pretty good post game). And idk if you call it side content or post game but in the case of guardian signs there's literally a whole other game within the game that takes place in the past. Since your past character stays at base stats as you do the main story (only gets xp from doing past missions) most people only get around to it after beating the main game

I got every post game legendary... it was pain
I never knew u could revive Guardevoir
Still had a blue rescue team Eur cart since 2009 and still haven't done buried relic because traumatize on it

I found mystery dungeon’s post game to be tedious and unrewarding/unfulfilling.
You get a tick-off that you completed the dungeon after hitting your head against a wall trying to fight the RNG.
And the NPC’s don’t have dialogue changes or acknowledge anything that happened in the post game.

Recruiting the legendaries did not interest me. I think I only ever went as far as completing the Gardevoir and Gengar post game content.
And then there's the Explorer's games with the most bland legendary dungeons there are
And with a beautiful OST and larger roster.

How do you know if mew spawn can you make video of that
I believe it's just random. I think the only way to check is to open the recruitment tab in one of menus and if Mew is on the list then they're on the current floor. Also, Mew likes to transform so their name should pop up in the textbox which should alert you of their presence

I don't remember much of the first installment mainly cause the latter was so much better but I simply couldn't find the enjoyment to slog through 99 floors, though the unique areas where each legendary & party member would be was one of the best things I find in that game. (after recruiting)

@@Leafblade77 I wouldn't count the whole Darkrai part from graduating from the guild to stopping the distortion of space as postgame, i think it's more like the second half of the story
@@Leafblade77 meh.. the postgame story was okay, but the content was really barebones, at least 50 percent of the legendaries are stuck behind wonder mail unlocks or just random encounters in dungeons
