Thanks! Everyone’s showing you how to program no cpu lenses but not how to change this to make it work 😂

Wow what an eye opener thx! I currently shoot fuji and am looking into nikon with afd lenses. It is a real bonus you can set the aperture beforej turning on the cAmera. Ps this is also possible on the d700?

I'm new to lenses with aperture ring and I got my Tokina AT-X Pro 2.8 Macro today to use on my D850. I just want to know how should I store this specific lens and how to carry it in a bag in terms of aperture settings.
Some forums suggested having lens closed down(highest f number), and some opened up(lowest f number) when stored and I'm confused. Also, do I need to UV blast my Tokina lens often to prevent fungus?

But this is only a way to set the aperture, but the aperture behaves the same way regardless of whether you set it with the ring or the on-camera dial, no? That means it stays open and only closes to capture an image? OR does this "aperture ring" setting set it to completely manual aperture control, meaning that closing the aperture, i.e., to f8, keeps it closed at f8 all the time? I'm looking for a way to prevent the D850 from opening and closing the aperture in between the frames.

Same issues, did you find a way?

@@Scugnizzu I even bought Tokina lens (with aperture ring) because of this and I'm afraid this is really only to use the aperture ring instead of the dial (so basically it doesn't have any effect on the way aperture functions). However the ring does not close the aperture, which remains open until you press the shutter. I don't understand why is it so hard for Nikon to add a single custom option to keep the aperture closed :(.

Actually i fixed it, just slowly jerk the aperture spring pin at the lens attachment until it becomes smoother and smoother, eventually will free up
