I found some of the BEST Anime inspired food in Japantown Seattle! From Haikyuu to Demon Slayer, this food tour was a blast. We had Katsu, convenience store food, kakigori, sushi, karaage, agedashi tofu and it was all awesome.

I"m a simple man. I see a ChefPK vid, I click ChefPK vid. I like ChefPK vid. I then cry as my stomach starts to rumble because everything you're cooking or eating looks so delicious... and it's probably 2am when I watch the vid. 😭
Love ya Paul, keep up the great work. You'll hit 1 mil in no time!
I just started the journey myself :P

I make onigiri with smoked salmon, ginger and wasabi. Its delicious.
Sounds great would try
There's one food anime that doesn't get talked about that I think would be great to check out - Isekai Izakaya! It's basically the same premise as Restaurant to Another World, but every episode has a live action segment at the end which alternates between cool places to eat in Japan that feature the food from the show and a chef preparing one of the dishes from the show.
Maybe you've already seen it, just figured I'd mention it since it also features an IRL chef making the food ;)
Izekaya Nobu? I liked that they did this at the end of each episode. However I did not like them using a different animation style than the manga.
In Japan we went to a katsu place that served black pork katsu and they gave you a bowl and pestle to grind sesame seeds with and then you'd pour some katsu sauce on top of it and mix it. It was awesome.
what place?? Might go this year =D
@@CHEFPKR I had to do some digging (hooray for Swam) Hirata Bokujo in Nihonbashi inside the Coredo building.
Your prowess around the kitchen gives you a great ability to break down flavor profiles. Different video but very enjoyable.
Onigiri is an absolute classic but if you frying anything in panko I'm gonna devour it!!
Bruh, that food looked so good! This video was definitely a mix of a date and entertainment for us.
Shout out to Sandwich House Tres who deliver those sandos to Uwajimaya daily!
I'm so glad you showed us how to assemble convenience store rice balls. I felt so lost because the instructions were in Japanese, but had vague pictures with sort of instructions that didn't tell me anything.
actually, he did it wrong. you have to pull tab, that bright red or orange sticky-outy bit at the top of the onigiri, pull it around or most of around the riceball, then you pinch the left corner of the plastic, gently wiggle/pull it off and the left side of the seaweed wrapper will fold itself over the rice ball, then you repeat on the right corner; then just tighten up the seaweed folds if you like but i prefer not to spread too much of the moisture of my hands otherwise the seaweed gets soggy faster and becomes harder to chew.
Oooh, all these look so good! Really cool that you went around to places and showed real life versions of food from anime.
As a Seattle guy....thank you for going ro uwajimiya. Be careful with their onigiri sometimes, I got a tuna mayo that was labeled Unagi. Still good, just got caught off guard.
I'm so glad to see you rising in subs! Not so long ago you had just about 30k. The past year or two have been an exponential growth!
I love food tour videos. Thank you for an anime inspired one of seattle!
Man dude, those all look so delicious! I wish i could be there.
your first video that i watched and its awesome, i love these types of videos, im not that into anime, but the amount of delicious food that u showed - incredeble. Interesting theme of the video, good places, amazing video.
thank you! We are anime lovers here but our love for food is strong haha. I'm working on some fun ones in Tokyo later this year =)
I went to the same Uwajimaya last year and loved it ! I wish they had these in New York. Awesome video as always ChefPK 💪
Another outstanding routine my friend well done and I hope the curry recovery went well man xD
Man this is great, can't wait to see you at AX!
I will support you when I graduate and get a job, I really love your content man keep up the good work 🎉
Bro this guy makes my day better every day.
Thank u and keep up the grate work.
Went to Seattle a few years ago, and Uwajimaya was such a cool place. I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the grocery section, but the book store/ everything store was so much fun. I spent way too much money.
Delicious tour of food
Restaurant to another world is like my fave anime ever, it’s definitely at the top of my fave’s list! I hope they make a season three soon!
Hello Chef, I want see your take on Kozuki Oden's Oden from One Piece and some of his training hehe.. great video as always
It was nice meeting you at Kobuta & Ookami katsu!
the pleasure was mine! thank you for stopping by to say hi =)
Chef i am loving your videos. I would love to see you to create your anome inspired original recipe food in your videos 🤍
for opening onigiri yo should tear from the center top, there you can find some pointy end and you tear the plastic to open it in a half
Love the videos as an aspiring chef
Keep learning, never stop
I really love anime and anime food thanks for your videos
Oh man I haven't been in this Uwajimiya in so long! I have one thats like a city away from my place, but its a lot smaller, there really isn't a food court there. I hope you had fun in Seattle as always :D
Great video, Paul!
Thanks fam
Hey chef, I think those onigiri wrappers have a pull tab that goes down the middle and then you pull the wrappers apart.
I'm moving to where you live cause all of these places you went to look so amazing i need them in my life. Plus i will be near you and i will be there and ready when you get that food truck up and going.
Woooooo new video.
watching this made me hungery!
Wish I had a section of my state like that....sure I can find some stuff similar but what I have more of in my state is Korean stores. Oh don't get me wrong they sell some Japanese stuff too but stuff like you found is a little on the "out of my way" scale in having to drive to find Japanese grocery stores. Really the closest I get to Japantown is when the yearly Japanfest rolls around.
I go to uwajimaya and the like almost every day on my way to work. Still hoping for the day when I can see you in the wild. Not in a weird way
This channel is so good 🍜
A couple things for when you come back to Seattle!!
Around the Univeristy of Washington Area, there’s a lot of Korean fusion and Mediterranean places!! Also, some of the Onigiri is better at the HMart if you come at around 11 AM when lunch time is just starting. You should come back around May 25th-26th, when they have a U District street festival, they have great garlic fries and lots of small artists where you can get great anime merch!
There’s also another ramen place I can’t remember the name of, but they have a duck ramen and it’s just near the Space Needle!! And in the space needle armory, there’s a bunch of restaurants (that are pretty pricey, but some are better than others), but I personally recommend getting the crab fries from the fish and chip shop!!
Going back to near UW, you can find Dick’s burgers which is sort of like In-N-Out. Their burgers are about $1.25 and up and they’re pretty good at their price point!! I personally like the fries though. Furthermore, there’s a place called the University Village (and again, it’s pretty pricey) and they do have smaller shops and restaurants there too!!
Going back to the International District where Uwajimaya is, it would be great if you could try Bruce Lee’s favorite restaurant next time!! It’s located where you can find the black and yellow spray painting of his portrait, and his favorite dish was the beef with oyster sauce!! I went there a few times and the food was really good!!
Overall, some tips if you come back to Seattle!! Happy food travels!!
Yummy!
i hope you've watched Restaurant to another world its such a good cooking anime
Have a trip planned for Seattle in December. Now I need to add all this to the list lol
Snag the guide and EAT UP
@@CHEFPKR did you try the Iberico pork at the Katsu place? I'm just wondering because I have heard Iberico is amazing
Next time youre in Seattle, you NEED to go to Maneki, my late grandmother's friend was/is(?) The owner. I dont know if you need a reservation, we always did cause we always went for her birthday so all like 10 of us would get crammed into one of the tatami rooms
Bet!
Bro... I WAS IN SEATTLE LAST YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THIS EXISTED! 😭I know I was there to see my aunt, uncle, and cousins, but god dang it I would have loved to go there.
god tier video
well when i eventually go back to seattle I know where i'm going. (went just under 2 decades ago and have been meaning to go back. maybe if my friends can stop getting married on the other side of the country lol)
I’m visiting Seattle for the week and want to purchase the food Guide but can’t seem to find it on the website link. Any help?
I love the restaurant to another world shout out. Not enough people know about it
I know why you don’t do it, but I still wish you had your reaction to it on your main channel
Ft. St. George in the I district has the best Japanese Curry in town.
Wait! You are in Seattle! Are you going to be at Summercon in Puyallup this weekend?! It would be so amazing to meet you. Been following you since your reaction videos to Food Wars. I mean I know you are not in Seattle right now, I was just really excited.
Unfortunately no =( we are getting ready for Anime Expo
@@CHEFPKR Darn. Oh well, maybe your next Sakuracon or EC3. Have fun at Anime Expo! Stay safe!!!
Hi chefpk I want to ask if you would do Alice’s curry dish from food wars.
I just wanna say that I just made the curry from the last video and it was so fucking good I can now die in peace
Nice!
yo he got the jelly donuts from Pokemon!!1!1
Dude I'm so jealous! Although a bit expensive
Agree! The sushi dinner cost the bulk of it though. Can have some cheaper eats for sure.
What time are you at Ookami and kobuta and it's NOT completely packed?!
Also wanted to call out that 8 blocks away is Menya Musashi, my top preference ramen and izakaya. Great itinerary though!
I had heard the rumors of how insane Kobuta got so we arrived at opening. When we left (around 12:15PM) the line was out the door!
If you go to kenjis Ramen they have a naruto bowl and I love their Ramen so much
How can someone not like fish flakes. They're waving hi at you.
Uwajimaya is one of my favorite japanese markets anywhere in the U.S. Its really the best of both worlds because you get amazing seafood quality because of the location so hence the amazing sushi.
I saw a RUclips video on cake 🍰 in a can. Ramen noodles in a vending machine.
I'm really hyped for season 2 of my dress-up darling hopefully it's gonna be good.
Taro is my favorite milk tea flavor and I don’t know what it is. I feel like it is made from fruity pebbles 😂
Fruity pebbles is the PERFECT comparison
I don’t know if you did it but do TORIKO FOODS❤
Epic
That's sea urchin sushi? Never had one for years ....
You opened the onigiri wrong. I did understand it’s hard at first, I only learned when I lived in Japan
The instructions for the onigiri are on the wrapper. Most are numbered 1, 2, 3
They do! Unfortunately this one had a giant price label stuck over the wrapper :(
I've watched my dressed up darling a couple of times, that phone needs a warning sign......
So I started a food business out of my house to friends and family 2 years ago inspired by watching your videos. About a month ago I lost my job. My Business Culture Shock was meant to be based on your motto remember to play with your food. Sadly where I live people do not try things. South East Texas in a small town called Buna. If it is not Fried Chicken they will not eat it. So while looking for a job that will actually pay enough to pay the bills I started trying to go ham on making things they might eat. I went from about 6 orders a week to 19 and then back down to 6. Everyone says the food is good but just no one is buying so I am at a loss. I am suppose to get unemployement but am not so idk what to do, but I am thankful to you and your channel. I may not have a place to live soon but I wanted to thank you for all the amazing content and the inspiration. No I am not asking for anything. I just wanted to express my thanks. I hope some day I will have a food truck or something and be able to show off fun and amazing food.
I'm so sorry to hear this. If you go back to it, give the people what they want, make your money then do you later down the line. It's what we all have to do. Just like this video. It's not doing well, but I wanted to make it for you guys.
So I haven’t watched the gambling anime he mentions at 10:09 but why is he saying don’t watch episode 4
I missed hearing the yoshi noises as you ate.
I'll add uwajimaya to the list of places to go to in Oregon.
Poor Rachel having to sit there and watch you eat while she waits
Yeah, y'all, go ahead and watch Kakegurui. Miyuki Sawashiro, aka The Best VA to Have Ever Existed, plays the school's president. Also, if you play gacha like Genshin, the gambling aspect will feel right at home.
Yo
u sould have korean cutlet
I wanna be just like you when I grow up
You can be even better
Is this uhajimaya in Washington state? I’m asking because If it is then I can go there.
There is one in Seattle!
@@CHEFPKR thank you very much for answering my question, sir!

I have a video request : give naruto fans ichiraku
Ramen
Coffee milk and canned coffee is an Asian cult drink, I do not mean that negatively I mean it like you have multiple fandoms of both drink brands and flavors. It is also generally better than Starbucks from a Starbucks which I find both impressive and sad.
No joke, I was all about BOSS coffee when I visited haha
@@CHEFPKR I do love BOSS you can tell fans of it because all caps. It’s not Boss it’s BOSS all caps.
Thanks for your information. I don't know how to say it, but you look much younger for some reason. I'm glad you're improving in all aspects. Pass the tip.🤩

Zoobi* correcting myself
If only I didn know what uni actually is i would probably eat it. Sorry, but that is not something i would insert inside my mouth.
oh noooooooooooo
legit cringing watching chef unwrapping the whole onigiri instead of pulling the brightly coloured tab all around the package so it cuts open the plastic wrapper for you, then pulling off the left then right corners so the onigiri will assemble itself, instead of assembling the whole thing yourself which is a n00b move.
Unfortunately Uwajimaya puts a sticker with the price of it over the wrapping so you can't do that method =( You have to basically break the plastic open.
@@CHEFPKR Uh yeah?? Every store around the world that sells onigiri put the stickers on the end of the tab which is smack dab middle of one side? Even where i get mine (not in the USA), just gotta get it down far enough or rip through the sticker fast enough that you can pull the corners off. I've watched RUclipsrs do onigiris from convenience stores in other countries as well and they all have no problems ripping through the sticker or they just loosen the sticker if they have to.
R u from seattle @chefpk?
Portland area, but I hit Seattle often. Love the food
Should try out chengdu taste in Chinatown, if you ever have a chance. They have great mapo tofu and many spicy dishes you may like. Even through it’s not anime related. Lol
Bro, that egg sandwich was a scam. $12 for that but they don't fill it with eggs completely between the bread
That was an editing mistake! Sorry about that. It was $12 for everything. So the sandwich, coffee, onigiri, Parfait and donut. The sandwich was $3
@@CHEFPKR oh, haha 👌
