The onigiri are usually delivered/put on the shelf in the late evening/early morning, so you have to hit all the stores at dawn, if you want variety, otherwise you get leftovers as the day goes on. The same usually goes for the chicken. Lawson's, 7/11 and Familymart all have the fried chicken thigh but again, you have to get there early in the morning or you have to be there when they heat up the fryer and fry a second batch throughout the day. For Lawson's my favorite was actually the 'fried squid stick' but you wouldn't always be able to get it.
I honestly prefer the Kyoto/Osaka side, AKA Kansai, to the Tokyo side most of the time. Food scene is amazing, it's generally more chill, and there are some amazing places. Did you guys check out the Kaiyukan Aquatium when you went to Tempozan? It was literally right next to it, massive aquarium where you ride up a long escalator tot he top, then circle your way down around a massive central tank. It's one of my favorite places and we always go there if we're there with a new visitor on a trip.
Onigiri has been the best breakfast I had back when I visited Japan. A tip to those who wants to save a bit but if you are near a grocery store sometimes the onigiri there are on sale, same thing too in the convenience stores
Man, you are bringing me back - I visited Japan over the summer, including the Giant Wheel and Aquarium at Osaka Bay, and the Karaage-Kun from Lawsons was a nice bit of comfort food for my first time outside the US. That and the Coffee Cream Sandwiches from 7-11 that I had for Breakfast basically every day I was there. Though if there's any food I miss from there? Onigiri Bongo in Tokyo. I got a Salmon Onigiri and a Karaage Scrap Onigiri and both were phenomenal!
The quest for the best With the most amazing convenience stores Japan has, your definitely gonna find it. You are also gonna find things you didn't know you liked, until you tried them Happy hunting cheif Pick us up some fired chicken along the way
Onigiri opening tip... After opening the center, jiggle one side to the side, fold and hold, and then jiggle the other side to the side... And you should have an unripped nori
Famichici is still my fav. 7-11 had the better premade meal selection and also these wonderful pancakes with maple syrup jelly and butter in the middle.
I opted not to eat from convenience store much because I prefer real meal. But my fav was the salted grill chicken on a stick, shio yakitori? From Family Mart. It's often the first thing I bought after I arrived in Tokyo. And when I was in Tokyo in May, I tried the fruit shake from both Lawson and 7-Eleven. The Lawson one was frozen and you need to add hot milk from the coffee machine. The 7-Eleven was cut up frozen fruits in a cup that you put in their blender unit. Oddly enough, I prefer the Lawson one.
The best onigiri I had was in Okayama. At Okayama station in the food court on the upper floor was a shop that did a 2 onigiri and 3 pieces of karaage for cheap (I want to say 500 yen). I'd pick up a couple of onigiri and some karaage and hop on the bullet train in the morning when we went out. My family would go to the bakery out in front before the station gates but it was mostly sweet stuff.
lets get chef PK to 1 mil .. amazing video as always, can't wait to try the Food truck, im trying to get my GF to like Chef PK's vids , not gonna be hard she loves anime and food, Bro you are the best thank you so much for all your vids I'll update in a future video to see how it goes with the GF
Ooooooooooooo! That brings back so many memories from when I was an exchange student lol. Since you are in Japan, I have a video recommendation. You should do a convenience store gourmet! The rules are that you have to make as good of a meal possible with only ingredients from convenience stores. You can find things like sausages, cheese, onigiri, curry, etc. I think that that would make for a fun video! For example, buying instant ramen for the seasoning, disassembling onigiri for the rice, etc. It should taste well and look appetizing, and maybe for fun you could compare the costs of your konbini gourmet compared to what you'd normally make lol. Also, please try out the beef bowl stores! You can compare those! For example, Sukiya, Yoshinoya, Matsuya. It's so delicious and especially cheap compared to where I am from. Finally I'd recommend you to try out strong zero too. I think that now there's strawberry flavour. I am sure that you will love those!
I just watch your Osaka street food video and out of the four, one is from Kyoto (mitarashi dango) and the other one is from Tokyo.(Taiyaki) but you missed out on one of the most ubiquitous Osaka specialty: Kushikatsu. Missed opportunity.
I could just be putting 2 unrelated ideas together and making an assumption however, as far as I know there are rules to how cooked rice has to be stored in Japan due to Bacillus cereus which is a bacteria that can grow on cooked rice that is stored incorrectly. So there is a solid chance that your assumption that the reason they were all at about the same temperature and similar experience wise is because of that.
Really cool video, Japan has such interesting food culture and I can’t wait to explore it for myself. The real question is, where did you throw out your trash?
Watching a video about some of m'y favorite food while bieing starved IS I think a good torture ! Why did I do that ? But thanks a lot and I agréé with you nana-chiken is the best one. Lawson Fried chicken is overrated I think, but still very good.
You definitely chose the wrong Lawson chicken. Karaage Kun is good but you should have gotten their regular spicy chicken like you did with everyone else
Why do I feel like that CHEFPK is stacking up some cards to counter any argument that may arise if he'll go and be a guest in trash taste ( please happen 🥺🤞🏻).
Lawsons is king you failed though the cheese ones are amazing but if you wanted chicky to kill famichicky and all other you needed to get the crispy chicky cutlet its the kind and makes famichicky look bad, 7 11 has the worst chicken dude. 1. Lawsons, 2. Family mart, 3. 7/11 if you have to others are ok too. I mean none are bad but LAWSONS IS KING! I am sad you didn't go cheesy nuggets and especially missing the extra crispy cutlet its king! I MISS JAPAN SO MUCH!!!!
If I remember there is a wood pick in the lawsons chicken. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Also I think Japan is the least likely to have msg of any Asian countries. Which is kinda disappointing if I am being honest.
I Have DONE IT! A FULL Book on Anime Food in Japan! Back the Kickstarter now!

This would've been the perfect chance for a collab with Abroad in Japan (aka Mr. Famichicken)
I was going to comment that. Fried Chicken, without Mr. Affable himself??
Chris is on a trip around northern Japan right now.

We did!
7 eleven has a mochi taiyaki. It's the only conbini chain exclusive item, that influences which conbini I'd choose.
Onigiri has been the best breakfast I had back when I visited Japan.

Spicy fami chiki in between the 2 halves of an egg sando is the go to move. I had it for breakfast at least 5 times over my 2 week trip in August.
the thing i miss most about japan is the convenience stores. the food was soooo good there.
Famichici is still my fav. 7-11 had the better premade meal selection and also these wonderful pancakes with maple syrup jelly and butter in the middle.
I just realized a Chilla's Art game is in a Lawsons. It was kinda scary to see Night Shift, I think

You should really try the pancake from 7-11 and sandwich it with their chicken 🤤🤤
This brings back a lot of memories of my trip to Japan and eating a lot of convenience store food, that and bakeries.
Thank youuuuu my pride and joy for the Nebula prescription I will indeed enjoy your videos and others. Keep up the good work son, God bless 🙏 ❤

Great video! I was just listening to you talking to Steve Ramsey about your trip then when i got home from errands there was the video!
Ooooooooooooo! That brings back so many memories from when I was an exchange student lol.

Konosuba is one of my favorite shows to and good news there is going to be a third season next year. Good luck with the rest of your trip.
Konosuba S3 = anime of the year.
This video just screams the yakuza like a dragon series
thank you for sharing as i'm planning to go Japan - Osaka and Tokyo, this gives me alot of insights on what to look out for!
Really fun video! I'd love to visit Japan some day to try some of these items
Watching this reminds me of the times I visited Japan... Damn I miss that country.
Anthony Bourdain featured Lawson's Egg Slalad Sandwich
I used to live in tokyo, and the corn dogs from the convenience stores are some of the best I've ever had
Ok Joshua Weissman thumbnail 😂
Haha yup! We had this idea before shooting then I saw his.
It's not a 'regulation' per-se, but a recommendation to the conbini from the manufacturer of the onigiri.
I just watch your Osaka street food video and out of the four, one is from Kyoto (mitarashi dango) and the other one is from Tokyo.(Taiyaki) but you missed out on one of the most ubiquitous Osaka specialty: Kushikatsu. Missed opportunity.
"you're a monster" LOL
This isn't every convenience store in Japan this is just Osaka!
But it's all of the fried chicken!
I’m with you on 7/11 having the best ice cream selection!
I’ve been craving tuna and mayo ❤
Wow! they sell One Piece manga in 7-Eleven.
9:43 Same haha
gotta love it when anime decides what you get at the shop :)
Egg salad sandos are one the best conbini snacks

I like Famichiki more especially in the Summer when they release the spicy versions of Famichiki
OMG Konasuba..... cant wait for the next season.... ah my goddess .
People who saw Jjk banner🤚
And when he said to tuna mayo it reminds me of inumaki

It's crispy combini time!
One Piece vol 107 is EVERYWHERE...and... stacked!!!
I like the fried chicken at the konbini stores! really juicy as well.
ive heard sooooo much about pizzamon at family mart and would like to recommend it to you
Yo sick also it is me who thought the Sukana fingers was chicken I sub to you because of your hard work
Ya I'd love if 7 elevens here in the states did the fried chicken like Japan stores do.
Food looked good. Did not need my acrophbia triggered.
Ngl these convenience store foods got me tweaking it be look good
The fact that I got a Japanese KFC ad before this video is dang hilarious 😂
Planned.
7-11 is the best no matter where you are at
nice
one of the few countries where the convenience stores were actually conveniencing
Really cool video, Japan has such interesting food culture and I can’t wait to explore it for myself.
The real question is, where did you throw out your trash?
We carried a small plastic bag in our back pack for trash :)
Have you met the guys from trash taste yet?
I'm wondering as well
somebody eating Convenience Store fried chicken in japan and Chris isn't there is that allowed
I genuinely thouht, that Chris Broad would make an appearance in this video :D
You actually missed lawsens actual winner for famichiki
Lawsons doesn't have famichiki though.
Why did they ever get rid of Lawsons in the USA? It was founded like 15 minutes away from me in NE Ohio, what a shame.
Where are you hiding Abrod in Japan???😂😂😂
Watching a video about some of m'y favorite food while bieing starved IS I think a good torture ! Why did I do that ?
But thanks a lot and I agréé with you nana-chiken is the best one. Lawson Fried chicken is overrated I think, but still very good.
I’m hungrryyy 😂
Lol thought you were George franko
the way i rate it is. 7/11 and lawsons the regular fried chicken i find those bites to be rather dry.
You definitely chose the wrong Lawson chicken. Karaage Kun is good but you should have gotten their regular spicy chicken like you did with everyone else
I was told Karaage Kun was where it's at though!
Do you really like the dried nori ?
How much food does he have to eat in a day while he films these videos? :O
Great video as always!
worse than ministop in vietnam we have caramel soft server
I noticed people looking at the tattoo as its not seen good in japan and their expressions change after seeing the tattoo
Chef where did you get that rice shirt???
What kind of watch are you wearing??
Why do I feel like that CHEFPK is stacking up some cards to counter any argument that may arise if he'll go and be a guest in trash taste ( please happen 🥺🤞🏻).
We got those onigiri here in Germany too they are so fking delicious complete umami bomb of perfection
you look like Steven Furtick
I miss Japanese convenience store food...
Am just wondering what happend to your reaction videos for food wars
Removed from the internet for now
So you are eating like teenager back here in America ... they sit outside 7-11's and hang out with drinks and snacks.
Does your shirt say No Rice, No Life? 😝
NO MSG lol this isn't China lol
We all know why he likes konosuba
I'm cultured
