I have trained my Ossie doodle using your techniques. I've also watched hundreds of other videos with other trainers. Nobody can compare to how clear and precise your videos are. Thank you for this. I have a happy dog and he has a happy Owner
This is by far the most comprehensive heel training video I have ever watched. I'm getting into Rally Obedience with my dogs and this is the best heel training plan advice I could have ever wished for.
Thank you so much for sharing such an intelligent clicker based heel training video. I've seen another video encouraging negative enforcement that had the dog yelping when it made a mistake and this harmful video had a lot of likes. So I'm super happy to see a good positive reinforcement based training video that's shows your dog can both be obedient and happy without you having to hurt it. I wish more people liked videos like this instead!
Winston is so good. Of course, he has a great trainer. I’ll have to try this with my girl. I worked with the more basic heel positioning when she was much younger (I started her with some of your old vids with Solea) but I never did manage to get her to work with platforms and foot placement.
Your awesome I watch all your videos I started my training by watching your videos. Your simply GREAT please do more videos. How to make dog to put head down. Sit Down Head down position Please advice.
Thank you thank you can't wait to get started lovely training program for winter indoors you made it look as if I can train my girl to master a great heel x
How do you go from the dog standing on the platform to him touching your leg? My dog is perfect at standing and turning on the platform but doesn’t understand touching my leg
Thank you for shearing your knowledge! I would like to ask you, What kind of treats do you use? or do you try and err different ones with different dogs? thanks!
Hi, thanks for the video. I do have a couple of questions- what’s the main purpose of the heel? Do you use the word “heel” when you want the dog to heel - I don’t hear you using any command. Thanks in advance.
I just found your channel and I love your videos and philosophy with training. I use many of the same techniques, but you are more clever and thorough and I can definitely learn from that. Do you have any advice for a puppy I have spoiled with too many high-value treats? Early on my pup was indifferent to 90% of the treats I gave her, but I found a couple which she will die for. I also didn't know all of what I was doing. Ever since I've found these treats, I've used them too frequently to train and now she gets too many calories from treat rewards instead of her regular food. EDIT: she is 6 months to clarify
Thanks so much for this video! Do you have any advice on dog fence running? Our dog constantly chases and barks at passing cars inside our fenced yard, and it's so frustrating for us and the neighbors
I know this comment wasn't for me but I suggest teaching it to come and sit first. If it can come and sit call it, tell it to sit, reward it, then let it go. Or just tell it to sit and stay for a second and reward it then let it go. When you do this you teach the dog to focus on you and not the neighbors and that sitting gets treats while barking doesn't. Also keep in mind that dogs are probably going to bark because that's what they do and it shouldn't be a harmful behavior at all 💜
you usually break up the steps into different training sessions. Try one to two short training sessions a day and build the heel behavior as you and your dog are successful with each step.
I followed all the steps shown in the vedio. My dog does perfect rotation both the sides. We reached the final step also where you say reward the dog asa he touches your body while turning. We successfully passed every stage of your vedio. But then I'm not been able to get him move sideways as I move sideways or move back as I move back.
I think the first few exercises would do great for the puppy, but obviously you don't want to be doing advanced things straight away. So start off with basics, even make it into a game if your puppy is really excited! When I first got my dog, Oscar, I started with some basic tricks first, like sit, lie down, stay and come. I introduced leash and heel training after he had learned the basics, and slowly upped the "difficulty" of training sessions.
My dog has been very annoyed when starting on the first step because I’m not giving her a command, did you give any command when starting out with the platform?
He has a older video that has 1.2mil views and it is titled "How to teach any dog to heel perfectly" it's the same concept but it goes into more detail.
I used small stool or children’s chair which is a bit higher than flat platform, luring my dog with treats to step on it with his front legs after several attempts finally he got on it
My dog is terrified of stepping on a platform that makes any noise or moves at all... It took me like 5 training sessions to get him to even step on the thing.
@@Jenifarr I don't think he has a tired setting. LOL. He is the highest drive dog I have ever met and I raised 2 maligators before him. He is very bright though. Took to the basic commands very quickly. But I struggle in the advanced training because of the lack of focus... stay is a basic command we struggle with. He is done listening before he is released from the command. And there's absolutely nothing, no reward, that supersedes a visit with another dog. So if the neighbors dog comes out he is outright disobedient. Which is a major problem.
Well this is the best dog training channel, by far. . .
Like by very far
Absolutely agree!
your approach to dog training is different from other trainers, but it's great when trainers add their own creativity to their teaching
After months of searching the internet, I've finally found the best dog heeling tutorial! Thanks heaps for this!
same way with me!
I have trained my Ossie doodle using your techniques. I've also watched hundreds of other videos with other trainers. Nobody can compare to how clear and precise your videos are. Thank you for this. I have a happy dog and he has a happy Owner
totally agree!
Excellent tutorial. You did a great job breaking the training into very clear steps.

Could you please tell me what kind of treats do you give your dog?? thank you so much!
How often should I do this exercise within a week or should I change other exercises?
When do you give the heel position cue?
So this is not in one day right ? Roughing how long ? For this training
Do you ever get a key word through the process?
What treats do you use for dog training
You’re the best
Is it to be all step in a same day or each stage we can do it different day and last combine altogether
you usually break up the steps into different training sessions. Try one to two short training sessions a day and build the heel behavior as you and your dog are successful with each step.
What should you do if my dog has trouble rotating on the platform? She just follows my hand with her head.
Do you have video how to teaching this from scratch. With a dog for the 1st time?
Watch his old ones with his Shepard
How did you get him to position himself into pressing his shoulder into your leg though?
Tyler Flynn watch his last heeling video it’s specifically about that
Hi, I am on step 1. My dog won't return to the platform after luring him on with treats. Any advice?
Thanks

My dog is now 10 weeks old. Is he too young do begin with these exercises?

+1! Having trouble because there is no command. Are you saying "paws up" in the video?
But how to get the dog to stand with its front legs on the bowl first??
My dog is afraid to put her two front paws on anything… any ideas to combat this? She refuses to sit on anything I place in front of her
How do you get them to pivot in the first place
He has a older video that has 1.2mil views and it is titled
"How to teach any dog to heel perfectly" it's the same concept but it goes into more detail.
Does it also applicable to small breed dogs?
Yes.
What happened to the german ?
Your fn cool
I can not even get my dog on a platform. I have used every treat including roast beef and she is not having it. Any ideas?
I used small stool or children’s chair which is a bit higher than flat platform, luring my dog with treats to step on it with his front legs after several attempts finally he got on it
Watson's tail seems fluffier!
I'd love to see this done with a non food driven dog. With a HIGH DRIVE. Not a labrador cause they are piss easy to train.
My dog is terrified of stepping on a platform that makes any noise or moves at all...
It took me like 5 training sessions to get him to even step on the thing.
Wow Great training but I see anther doggo in the adjacent yard all by himself.. Some one pet that dear dog
I can't get my dog to settle down long enough to make eye contact.
Jea S Play with them first and get them a bit tired. Focus is much stronger after a good play session.

@@jeas4980 My GSD is highly reactive on the enviorment. This is just not working for him.
I could do without the rock concert.
Ask yourself why you have to use a fake globe image as your intro. Your videos are excellent and the intro has nothing to do with your content.
Is there a verbal command for this?
