- In this video I replace a front main seal on a 2014 dodge Cummins. Normally I see people taking off grill, rad and inter cooler to complete this job. But as I show here it’s not necessary. How you enjoy the video. If you have any questions please let me know and I will try to help.

Gotta do my 3rd gene 2004 soon so this video was super helpful! Thanks for making and posting it!!
Thanks for the video, makes me more inclined to get ready to order the stuff to fix my 2018... I was thinking about just letting a shop do it; I typically do all my own maintenance but have been extremely lucky and never had a crank seal go out on any vehicle I have owned
My 2018 has 140k on it and just started marking its territory in my garage. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the info! I gotta do this to my recently purchased used Cummins. It’s been leaking a couple drips a day and it’s also leaking from the timing cover. 2 leaks fixed in 1 stop 😅
I've got to do mine on my 2011 3500. Thanks for the video.
2013 5500 replacing seal Ty for vid
Thanks for this video, it was super helpful. Before I tear into my 6.7 because of an oil leak is there an easy way to tell if the leak is from the crank seal or the back of the timing cover? Thanks.
If you go under the truck you should be able to pin point the leak. If the are is covered in to much oil, it would be best to degrease the engine and drive it for a little bit to try and find the leak. It should be obvious where’s it coming from though. That being said, the timing cover needs to come off no matter what so you’ll need to change the front main seal anyways.
Thanks for that’s awesome job 👍😎🇺🇸
Thanks for the video
Do you happen to have a parts list?
Do you have a list of torque specs for reassembly?
I don’t currently as my all data subscription expired. But they can also be found only fairly easily.
@brianskinner1790 any luck with a list?
Nice video..how many miles on it?
Thank you. It has about 80,000km or 50,000 miles on it.
Our Entrepreneur Life Thanks.. 2018 ram 2500 dealing with the same issue ,dealership replaced it under warranty at 89,000 ..6 days later leaked again🤷🏻♂️
Must have been a bad install or maybe e you needed a speedy sleeve and they didn’t do it. I sure hope they are redoing it for free?
Yes sir..thats what i was thinking👍🏼
Does the white plastic stay on the seal when installing the cover back on ? Many other seals don’t seem to have it ?
Yes it does. It’s only used for install though. It expands the seal over the crank shaft so you don’t damage it when installing it.
Awesome video man. Just curious as to what size that fan nut is?
I believe it is a 48mm wrench.
For me it is a 36mm or a 1-7/16
What’s the price for do the same job in my 2015 ram 2500
I think a shop quoted my brother $2800
I was quoted $4,100 this week for my ‘15. Said it was coming up with 20 hours of labor and the whole front clip had to come off.
Yeah I’ve always found shops quote way to high for jobs like this. It’s a very easy job with the right tools.
If that one was leaking mine is non existent 😄
How long did it take you?
We did it over about 6 hours. But we were also socializing and what not. Just straight work it could be done in around 3
Did you fix KDP
Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure the new trucks don’t have that issue. I thought it was a 5.9 problem?
@@ourentrepreneurlife3348 2nd generation 5.9 issue, Third gen (03) up don't have that issue.
There is no KDP on a 6.7 ,after 03 thats gone
Awsome beer fridge lol
no 545 sealant on the seal? you didn't install the red version... doesn't that one call for 545 hydraulic sealant to be added as per cummins?
We purchased the parts directly from Cummins based off of the engine serial number. Thanks for your questions.
OEM or not that seal requires a hydraulic sealant as per Cummins. @@ourentrepreneurlife3348
