The French woman refusing to tattoo grammatically incorrect French on some girl, and becoming more flabbergasted as she describes this grand injustice, is one of the most French things I've ever seen.
i mean, idk if it's only a french people thing lmao if i were a tattoo artist and someone asked me to tattoo a wrong quote in spanish, i wouldnt do it either
I'm glad someone said they refuse to tattoo a drunk person. Even a lot of the really famous tattooers tell stories about tattooing drunk people, and I think that is so incredibly unethical and irresponsible. It's taking advantage of someone who isn't in their right state of mind. I've even heard stories of people tattooing someone who is currently suffering from psychosis. That same person, on the right medications and in the right head space, would most likely never ask for the same tattoo. To me, no amount of money is worth putting something permanent on someone's body when they're in a vulnerable state.
In Vegas I asked this tattoo artist dude if he tattoos drunks and he said of course he does because if he refused he would lose like half of his revenue and I also asked him what the craziest tattoo he did and he said some super old guy came in and wanted a hitler mustache and he did it
@@KasHxJay holy shit! I don't know, I feel like that's super unprofessional. Have some limits. The most hilarious tattoo I ever saw was a full leg sleeve from this weird dude at a party. He sat next to me and goes, "Have you ever seen a pickle village?". Now, I'm thinking this is some kind of creepy pick-up line, but then he pulled up his pant leg. Dude had a full-on town of PICKLES, pushing wheelbarrows, driving cars, dropping off mail, tiny pickles playing in a pickle park and getting off the pickle school bus...I mean...I'm a loudmouth, but I had no words. I just couldn't stop laughing. And bro didn't even laugh! He had this satisfied look on his face like, "Yeahhh. Got another one...". I just got up and left, trying not to choke on my beer.

I am so glad that artist is looking out for domestic abuse survivors/victims (not everyone survives). Name tattoos are a bad idea generally, but that is the absolute best reason to refuse to do them.
My first bf who in the last 10 years has been arrested 4 times in 3 different states for domestic violence and battery DEMANDED that I get his name tatted on him. That doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s like their branding you
I read "Hells Angels" by Hunter S. Thompson and there is a part where he writes about the women asociated with the bikers. Lot of them had "Property of the Hells Angels" tattoos, kind of like a stamp. It still is incredible to me that someone would do that, like being branded like a cow, but I think that is what this comes down to. When she said a lot of young girls want a tattoo of their boyfriends name, but the guys don't what their girlfriends name on them, I think it is a sign that these men feel like they own their girlfriend. So I'm not surprised that a lot of vicims of domestic abuse have these tats. I'm a social worker I have only seen these kind of tattoos on young women that have went trough a lot, during their young lifes. Almost all had severe substance abuse and/or personality disorders.
@@totallynameless8861orrelation doesn't equal causality. You can find tons of patterns between two subjects that have nothing to do with each other. I'm not a tattoo artist but I agree with the name thing. I'd make an exception for like an older customer who maybe lost their partner like they died not broke up. But otherwise no, don't get your partners name on you.
I agree. I thought maybe an exception would be like an older couple who've been married 40 years getting each others names. That's the only couple exception I can think of.

While I was getting my first tattoo, I offhandedly asked my artist what some of his odd experiences in trying to discourage clients from bad ideas. Tells me about a guy who shows up with his girlfriend, girlfriend proceeds to ask for spider webs across both tits.....artist asks why....boyfriend leans in and aggressively says “cause it’ll be fuckin hot don’t you agree?!” Proceeds to explain that spider webs generally denote something old, ancient, musty, unattractive, couple isn’t having any of it. This reminds me of when I was getting my second tattoo, and there was this kid that just turned 18, and he was getting tattooed by the other artist there. He was there with his girlfriend, who had convinced him to get this like basic white girl type tattoo. A watercolor hummingbird on his shoulder with "let it be" under it in cursive. I'm confused though - I mean, I completely agree to trust the French-speaking native - however, wasn't she saying she wanted "my heart is beautiful" - ? What's wrong with that? Or, am I misunderstanding? Thanks.
i_love_rescue_animals what’s confusing to you? It would be like getting Chinese characters from someone Chinese and wanting something that means nothing or is incorrect and them not wanting to put nonsense on you. Duh
@i_love_rescue_animals From what I gathered, she was adamant about having "belle" (feminine adjective) when "coeur" is masculine. In French, words are gendered and adjectives more often than not have to "agree" (i.e. be the same gender) with the noun, so "Mon coeur est belle" doesn't work. The word for "soul" (âme) is feminine and would work with "belle".
@@i_love_rescue_animals From what I understand she wanted to use the word "belle" in her tattoo which is the feminine form of beautiful in french, but in french "heart"("cœur") is a masculine noun so we use "beau" (the masculine form of beautiful) instead. And "soul"("âme") works because it's a feminine noun.
It is because "heart" in french is a masculine word so it needs to agree in gender. "beautiful" in french can be translated by "belle" or "beau", "beLLE" being the feminine terminaisons whereas "beau" is the masculine and therefore the only one suitable. Basically "Mon coeur est belle" does not make any sense.

@Kaneki Ken Okay then
I'm glad someone said they refuse to tattoo a drunk person.

Dude had a full-on town of PICKLES, pushing wheelbarrows, driving cars, dropping off mail, tiny pickles playing in a pickle park and getting off the pickle school bus...I mean...I'm a loudmouth, but I had no words. YES maybe trust the french girl about your french tattoo lmao, how stuck up do you have to be
I'm confused though - I mean, I completely agree to trust the French-speaking native - however, wasn't she saying she wanted "my heart is beautiful" - ?
