I'm a meat eater but I'm weaning myself off eating it and always looking for meat alternatives. I use to be the biggest meat eater (especially when I was pregnant) but in the last 6 months I've been leaning towards eating more vegetarian and vegan meals. Always look forward to seeing your vids for ideas! Thank you Ela!
Me too. In my local supermarkets have really good veggitarian & vegan stuff. I prefer Linda marcartneys veg sausages rather then actual sausages made from meat. And I like having a home made veggie curry instead of having a meat one. There's quite a few Indian restaurants near me that are just vegetarian which I like especially if they have a Casava dish that I like not sure what it's called though
Honestly your videos are so inspiring. I went vegetarian 1 1/2 years ago, today i'm almost a full blown vegan (and i've even made my best friend turn vegetarian). Your videos help a lot, and they are always so informative and positive. Such a pleasure to watch. I hope you'll continue your great work, you do really make a difference. xx
BK Sav You lost the argument when you said “God”. Plants tons so much protein, and it’s actually absorbable by the body the fastest, unlike meat and animal products which take forever to digest.
Berlyn K. Lol what??? What kind of argument is that? 😂 do people like you literally go to videos you don’t agree with just to troll & throw out stupid ass assumptions like that?? Like I’m not even full blown vegan/vegetarian but coming from either perspective of diet choices, your reply had me fucked up.
just decided to go vegan after many years and my daughter convincing me that she wants me to be alive . I have diabetes and I may have some kidney trouble as well. She made me watch the movie "What the health?" and that was the moment that sold me to change . The irony is that i am a chef and i am a specialist in processed meats . i now have a philosophical and ethical conflict now to continue promoting product that I feel is ethically wrong to use and very unhealthy. i feel i have been misled and misled many people about eating meats . i hope i can do this , i must do this. thanks for sharing your delicious recipes
Going vegan has nothing to do with being alive. One should simply remove the sugar, gluten consumption and processed packaged products and that's it. There is nothing wrong with meat( especially fish ),eggs, moderate amount butter or homemade prob. yoghurt + honey, if you know where they are coming from. Do these people think all legumes are super protein subs and healthy as hell? Of course not ! Do you not know having sugar pumped smoothies everyday actually kills you as well? Are you actually not aware of the majority of vegetable - cooking oil are diseases themselves? I understand and TOTALLY RESPECT veganism, whether being a political or animal rights perspective, financial causes or environment etc... But vegan doesn't mean healthier than every other option. Please stop sjw-ing about this and actually learn the basics and see a professional ( functional medicine expert or nutritioanlist + dietician, preferably specialised in auto-immunity and cancer )
I am vegetarian since 1994 and i did it for health and ethical reasons. I am 43 (i have been vegetarian since i was 18). I ate meat because i was forced to but as soon i was capable of making my own decisions i went vegetarian. I was told by my husband when i was pregnant that i should eat meat for the baby. Fortunately, the doctor was a wise person and he told me to eat beans, lentils, greek yogurt and a vitamin supplement that had iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium and vitamin b12. Thanks to my dr. I did not have to eat meat. Get informed before you go to the dark side (like my son says. He is not a veggetarian because i did not want to impose my will to them like my parents did to me). Now that i am 43 everyone tells me that i look in my early 30's. It must be that i have not consumed any fish, chicken or fish for the last 25 years😀
I've been Vegan since January and have been watching Vegan channels on here for maybe 6 months now. You can imagine what a fiasco that is. Your channel is one of the best if not the best Vegan channel on here. It has the most diverse topics and you have the perfect attitude and personality. Yours is also the only channel where I rewatch the videos and that's because your content is amazing.
I love watching your videos I learned how to make so much new stuff thanks to you. In any case it's hard for me to be interested in watching videos but yours is just right to the point you explain everything well and your outcomes look good. My son loves the plantbased meatballs you made
Girl, you are my favorite!! I gave you a shout out on another RUclipsrs page. They hated on vegan carrot hot dogs, and I told then your recipe was solid. I can't wait to try these recipes.
Just made the minced "meat" for dinner and ate it inside veggie wraps and it was DELICIOUS! Thank you so much for the recipe as I never liked tofu nor knew how to cook it to make it tasty. Will fur sure be trying the meatballs and sausages. Love from Spain!
Miss you, Ela. Your videos are so moving and kind, and you really live what you believe in. Your values matter to you. I’m sure you’re out there living life in the best way...but if or when you come back, you’ll still have my full support.
i gave the mince a try and it turned out delicious. i cooked mine about 30 minutes longer and it was perfect. it was boyfriend approved! thank you so much
Thank you for the awesome recipes. One of the things I found hard to stop eating was meatballs. I can not eat the glutton or tofu so the last recipe was right on time. Thank you again!
Hi Lisa, l know what you mean, l found it hard to stop eating "Corned Beef" sandwiches. I wish someone could link me w/a delicious, healthy, meatless substitute. I recently saw a presenter/inventor on "Shark Tank" present his recipe creation to the "Sharks" & they all said it tasted fantastic! I'd like to know how to re-create it, or something very similar? Thanks & God bless.
This video was amazing! Because: there was some really powerful information, followed by even MORE information, and thrn some important information. It was packed with useful tips. I immediately subscribed.
I'm so impressed with your suggestions. I think these are great suggestions to being more conscious of embrassing a vegan lifestyle. keep up with the good work and I hope to continue seeing what other great recipes you have for your upcoming videos.
I'm vegetarian because of my religion and I'm happy because I don't tear poor cute animals limbs apart and eat them. Just the thought of it gives me the chills. I like these vegan recipes because then I won't feel left out, it would be a funny prank, and I won't be violent and eat animals. So I really do appreciate these vegan recipes. Keep up the good work!😉😉
Video very well done! Thank you for writing the videos in the description area that way I can use them. I am blind and by having the recipes written out, my device will read the recipes. thank you again so much!
I stopped eating meat because of the taste (random fact). Love these recipes, inspires me to be more creative in the kitchen. That's actually my fave thing about plant based cooking- the creativity.
I feel exactly the same! I don't like meat and it makes me so happy to make something creative with veggies. Veggies are so beautiful and colourful when you compare them with meat.
wickandde I picked up the kiwi accent way before she mentioned it. If I'm not mistaken she's probably also from the lower south Island. Just a hunch. Great presentation and finally vegan recipes with New Zealand ingredients!
I love this video. Thank you for making it. I actually enjoy all of your videos. I hope that one day you will do a home tour video. I love seeing how people who live a natural and organic lifestyle sets up their home. It gives me ides.
I just found your channel and I am so excited! Why did I not know about you already?! I love diy's like making my own toothpaste and deodorant. I cannot wait to watch all your videos! I would love an about you video and workout video along with all your other wonderful videos!
you've done it again! you always amaze me with new ideas for plant based cooking. im excited to try these recipes..and ill even give tofu another chance
This is fabulous. I've always been afraid to make seitan because it always seemed way to difficult when I read the recipes, but you've shown that its not hard at all. :)
Keep going Ela you are doing fabulous job .Keep inspiring people.Every couple of minutes a foot ball field size forest is cut to feed billions of animals by doing farming. These billions of animals are killed every day.To grow animals quickly for commercial profits , they feed food which is not good for animal eventually not good for human eating that meat either. This is the need of the hour to eat plant based food to protect Mother Earth for future generations. There are infinite ways of making delicious plant based recipes.
Hi Ella, Meat is a large staple in the diet. I prefer carbohydrates like beans, lentils etc and always have. I'm keen to try the sausages you have in your video, but am keen to know did it take a while to adjust to the taste or is it fairly quick?
This is a wonderful video ... A terrific subject matter. I'm vegan for a year and a half...and need to explore this options...fruits veg and grains...in simple form...seem to make me feel like I'm in such an isolated bubble....I need to crack open my vegan cookbooks and online resources and make more emotionally satisfying dishes.

So stoked to find a fellow kiwi girl doing vegan videos. Didn't ever think of using tofu as ground "meat". Def gonna give it a go. I look forward to checking out your other videos :D
I love your videos and thank you for this one as well. Though I'm no longer a vegetarian, I am very conscious of the meat in my diet. Yes I do like the taste of meat. However, knowing that over half of the animals that are slaughtered for meat in the US are killed for nothing, ie, wasted food, makes choosing to incorporate meat substitutes a constant quest for me. Love the sausage technique - will make some up for Sunday's breakfast. :)
i'm not vegan or vegeterian but i will try to eat less animal cruelty brand meat cause i know that i eat meat for my energy most times so i will try to lower my impact on animal cruelty and u inspired my decision because of how passionate u r. Sincerely, Liya i'm 13 and have watched mostly all ur vids Thanks, Ela Bye
Really nice recipes ! I'm not vegan but I try to substitute meat in a lot of my meals + I really enjoy the taste of plant based paté and balls. Thanks again :)
If you really examine the taste of meat it really doesn't have any flavor. People usually don't eat just plan meat - it usually has some sort of bbq sauce, marinade or salt and pepper on it. That's what gives it the flavor. For the "meat eaters" out there - bake a chicken breast with no seasoning on it and eat it. My guess is you will not like it.
lollie Chevier . This is a bullshit argument. Try eating a plate of kidney beans or lentils or tofu without sauce or flavouring and see how much you like it. I think veganism is great but stop spouting crap.
Omg I'm so happy I found your channel I have been considering going vegan but I didn't want to have to buy ingredients from overseas but the ingredients tour using I have at home or know what your using ❤ legit new subie for life
I don't really know how else to describe them than they are flakes of nutritional yeast haha, but they are linked in the description box if you would like to check them out :) X
When I first turned vegan I used nutritional yeast in place of parmesan cheese on pasta (I now use ground-up nuts too). It's also a source of Vitamin B12 but only if it's fortified with it. B12 is light sensitive so best to keep it in the fridge. I just found the website "Vegan Health," which has a very thorough explanation of this topic.
I just roll my seitan sausages in parchment, put them in an oven pan and cover the pan with alu foil and bake it in the oven instead. Works great for sausages and (un)meatballs! I think that is so much easier... 😊
hey ela for the minced ground beef could you also saute it instead of baking it? would the consistency come out the same? I want to try it and it looks really delicious.
+The Stoned Panther I just tried elas recipe and I sauted it. it came out delicious and it tasted like chorizo it was a bit salty but just add less garlic salt and soy sauce and it will be perfect. I'm defiantely making this again. thank you ela.
Do you freeze the meatballs before or after they are cooked? And how long can they last in the freezer? I'm planning on making Jamaican patties with the base. Really appreciate it.
going vegan was the best thing I've ever done
me too :)
Bea Weston
Sooooo much flavours😍😍😍
Or most stupid thing you did in your life.
Okstar lame.
Lol lame??? Bcs I enjoy eating meat you are a moron.
I'm a meat eater but I'm weaning myself off eating it and always looking for meat alternatives. Great job and continue to go vegan....you can do it!!🌸 it feels so awsome!
Me too. In my local supermarkets have really good veggitarian & vegan stuff. I prefer Linda marcartneys veg sausages rather then actual sausages made from meat. There's quite a few Indian restaurants near me that are just vegetarian which I like especially if they have a Casava dish that I like not sure what it's called though
Thankyou :) meat free is easy! But animal biproducts is a different situation lol but I'll get there eventually!!! Yet to try meat substitutes though!
what does that even mean?
+Meta Man you sound like an idiot
Honestly your videos are so inspiring.
I went vegetarian 1 1/2 years ago, today i'm almost a full blown vegan (and i've even made my best friend turn vegetarian).
Your videos help a lot, and they are always so informative and positive. Such a pleasure to watch. I hope you'll continue your great work, you do really make a difference. xx
I like how she explains the thought process of vegans and vegetarians and doesn't try to bash people who choose to eat meat. I like her respect.
I feel like Ela is going to live forever, she's so healthy

I really hope you got better and are doing okay now. Vegan is always better for your health, for the animals and for our planet 🌱
How about using your knowledge of processed meats and apply it to making plant based meat replacements?
Perseverance, God bless your desire to become vegan🙏

YYAAYYY!! a Vegan youtube blogger from New Zealand!!! XOXOXOX
This is excellent - thankyou Ela :) I hope you come back and make more videos please !!!
I love this girl! so down to earth and promotes veganism in suh a nice way. way better than freelee the Frisbee girl.
I eat meat but animal meat is dangerous for the environment like greenhouse gasses and climate change.
@@bailujen8052 You are just like my brother...
Girl yes! Thanks for clearing up how many meat eaters think it's because we didn't like meat it's because of the animals 💕💕✨
Wonderful video, thank you! Can't wait to try the recipes :-)
Wonderful introduction! Thank you.
So glad i found this channel. Great video!!
The health benefits (and harmful effects of meat) are the most convincing.
One thing I want to add for those who are sensitive to onion and garlic.. spicy brown mustard or a bit of jalapeno works beautifully.
Hi Ella, Meat is a large staple in the diet. I prefer carbohydrates like beans, lentils etc and always have. I'm keen to try the sausages you have in your video, but am keen to know did it take a while to adjust to the taste or is it fairly quick?
thank you for all of this amazing meals Ela! so delicious

Yeay... 1st one to view and comment. By the way... I really love to watch your videos esp the DIYS ones. God bless... ❤
just one question, what do you think of those people who lives in Alaska and all they can do is to hunt for food?
+Soya Beans Do you mean the Inuit?

You're right! Meat is tasteless
lollie Chevier lmao i actually like bland boiled chicken
What an amazingly informative video...I just subbed to you. thanks for sharing..

Would you share what Camera ur using in your videos, thanks!
I'm a new subbie.. You have great content, thanks for sharing.
thank you for sharing♥those are really good recipes!
How could this nice sincere and intelligent person get 55 dislikes?
I wish you would come back to RUclips. You are one of my favorites !
Hi, Ela. love your videos always. I wanted to know if you have ever tried 'soya chunks'? if prepared well, they taste really good!
This is so great! I can't wait to try these vegan meats!!
Thank you.😊 very good ideas..you are great. From Argentina...
nice recipes. any luck eliminated oil from any of these?
Loved that! What is the yeast for? :) I guess it's not the same for bread, right?
Those recipes are great. With the tofu mice, have you tried it in a frying pan? Does it work?
Ela does it have to specifically be gluten flour? If there is any alternatives, can you please list them for me thank you so much!
Great video as always Ela! Super inspiring
what are nutritional yeast flakes, you seem to put them in every recipe
I don't really know how else to describe them than they are flakes of nutritional yeast haha, but they are linked in the description box if you would like to check them out :) X
When I first turned vegan I used nutritional yeast in place of parmesan cheese on pasta (I now use ground-up nuts too). It's also a source of Vitamin B12 but only if it's fortified with it. The tofu ground beef looks delish. Going to try in some spaghetti tomorrow!
I think I'll start the kids and I on the crumble since they love tacos and lasagna! Thank you for sharing!😊
Ela, we miss you!! Hope everything is going okay for you
I just roll my seitan sausages in parchment, put them in an oven pan and cover the pan with alu foil and bake it in the oven instead. Works great for sausages and (un)meatballs! I think that is so much easier... 😊
hey ela for the minced ground beef could you also saute it instead of baking it? would the consistency come out the same? I want to try it and it looks really delicious.
Try it! Will still taste good but the texture might be slightly different
+The Stoned Panther I just tried elas recipe and I sauted it. it came out delicious and it tasted like chorizo it was a bit salty but just add less garlic salt and soy sauce and it will be perfect. I'm defiantely making this again. thank you ela.
yarixza mendoza Chorizo? I am making this for my pizza!! See all ways have to try! Thank you for telling us what it was like ;)
Do you freeze the meatballs before or after they are cooked? And how long can they last in the freezer? I'm planning on making Jamaican patties with the base. Really appreciate it.
You did great Ela!
