But I am glad I did, and I can’t wait try your other cheese recipe. I found that my cheese didn’t turn out as hard as yours looked, so I will add a little bit more agar next time. I made my first vegan cheese yesterday -- WOW! I made a garlic and herb cheese, similar to this recipe. I didn't think to roll it in herbs, though. I'm going to try that today! Thank you for this recipe. I've been vegan since 2008 (vegetarian since 1990), and I never thought of making vegan cheese. Funny, because I used to make cow and goat milk cheeses before becoming vegan. This is so much easier -- on me and on the animals!
I finally got around to making this! It's setting up in the fridge, but I snuck a little bit and it was amazing! I added a little paprika into the blender for some color, and used cashews. Delicious!
Made this recipe the other day. It turned out beautifully. I shared this at the office with a few open minded coworker. They all loved it. I will definately make this again. Thank you for sharing.
I have been eyeing this recipe for weeks now and boy! It is out of this world good!!! I licked the pan clean with some tortilla chips while the cheese settled in the fridge. I'm done looking for other cheeses! I have given nutritional yeast a chance, but this is way better! Love it!
Amazing! It must be the agar agar. Possibly a very underutilized ingredient in food processing at home. I checked out the list of videos on your channel and was struck by your fantastic thumbnail pictures you have on them. I must confess, I've been a bit turned off by vegan food in my past but looking at the pictures of your food has me seeing it with new eyes. Pretty remarkable I must say. So I subscribed.

I thought and had found really complicate recipes involving having a yogurt maker and vegan probiotics and a cheese cloth and waiting for ages and ages to just get a little bit of cheese. Your recipe seems easy and straight forward and I get to eat the cheese within an hour or two. Can't wait to try this. Thanks again!!

I can't wait to make this cheese! It looks super easy and if I can find a way to make my own cheese that will help me save money because as you know vegan cheese is expensive! I do have a question... can anyone tell me how long this cheese lasts in the fridge? Namaste
I made this cheese and it set up so great even before I popped it into the fridge! It smells heavenly…haven’t tasted it yet but as soon as it is cold, I have mixed together pecan pieces, herbs and vegan Parmesan cheese to roll it in. Can’t wait!
I am definitely going to have to try this! My boyfriends mom makes this cheese ball that is always a HUGE hit at the holidays, but it contains animal products :'( So I am going to make this and bring it so I can have some "cheese" too! :D Thanks!
Simba this isn't cheese, and the world does not need to eat vegan, you can keep your cultish mock epicurean crap to yourselves. No we just need less people who are ignorant.
+ilovesparky13, I'm not vegan. I will never be, nor want to be. It's healthier to be vegetarian. If I am giving vegans a bad name, then mission accomplished.
You did it again! Another recipe for me to try. So glad I found your channel. The best vegan one I've found on RUclips. Real recipes that I want to cook that's not at all preachy. I also love how you don't pretend to be some sort of nutritionist like so many other channels where the presenters aren't even qualified. Sick of it on YT. Not pushing the raw agenda either. You are a breath of fresh air to my vegan channel hopping. Keep those recipes coming. Loving you in the UK - 🙌🏼
hi, I turned into vegan last week and I am soooo happy with your channel it is very helpful indeed! but I have a quastion plz, I can't find the ager ager powder any where, what can I use instead of it?
I also had a problem with finding agar powder when I became vegan, but then i found that you can order it from the internet for an afordoble price, just order it don't be afraid agar powder is à big part of being vegan.
@@mkaizn Well, this is the first time I have watched this video, and the question may be relevant to other people who are new to it. Why do you feel so strongly about answering old questions that you had to comment? Is it an obsession with you?
Josh Howson Just keep educating her and lead by example :-) www.nutritionfacts.org is a fantastic website run by a plant based doctor that does lots of research and summarizes all the latest studies relating to plant foods. A great resource to have and a great way to get educated.
Josh Howson get your mum to watch Gary Yourofsky's best speech ever. I am an old mum and had been struggling with guilt feelings for years but Always found excuses as to why we had to eat meat, dairy and eggs. Then one day I decided I was going to give it a serious go, so I went on youtube looking for tips to help me go vegan. Then I stumbled on the video of Gary and for some reason I watched it. I have been vegan since the moment I finished watching the speech. After that I had to tell my kids we were going vegan as of that day the very first upcoming meal. They whinged but I didn't budge and now we are all happy vegans. One idea if she is reluctant is to ask her to watch it as a birthday gift to you instead of her buying you something. Gary's speech has changed so many peoples mind and life, it is definately worth trying if you want your mum going vegan. Assuming she has a heart which she probably does for having such a nice kid as you are. :-)
I am making a usb with pictures of my son for her and was planning to put it on that too. Along with some of bite size vegan vids. Especially the horse related ones. Thankyou for your comment and kind words. She and I are not on the best of terms at the moment. But we are getting better with time. She can be very uncaring sometimes, without really knowing. She is getting better though. I just want her in my son's life more. But she love 7 hours away making it hard. Makes it hard to duel it out with her face to face too. Don't know why I am telling u this, lol. Are u Aussie? Or is your name to do with Ozzy Osborne ?
Please watch out for all that toxic plastic. I have my blendtec sitting in the closet until they come out with a ss container or a glass container. It's already been determined that the bpa containers from tritan do leach toxins into our food and it's probably worse if you're pouring hot liquid into that plastic container. Also, the same concern should go with your non stick. I searched and searched until i found a ceramic coated line that I like. The plastic coating in that pan is not healthy for your family at all. We vegans need to live long, healthy lives so I hope you will seek out replacements for the products you were using today.
paulsonjeff What kind of bag? Just so you understand what I'm saying requires further reading on your part, here's a quickie article to bring you up to speed. www.eco-novice.com/2015/03/eat-less-plastic-33-ways-to-keep.html
I am not a fan of putting hot liquid in my Blendtec. I am going to try this but without the hot water just room temp. also I am soaking my almonds and cashews first. I got rid of all Tephlon cooking and stick with stainless steel or cast iron.
Amazing recipe again Ania! I made it yesterday and I was amazed by it. Best "cheese" recipe I've made so far, and I've tried a lot of them! THANK YOU so much for your talent :) Love from Spain
I can never respond to comments or even click the thumbs up - so I'm leaving a new comment to thank you for answering my question about the container n whether it will stick! Can't wait to try this! Thank you
I followed this recipe to the letter. I cooked and cooked, stirred and stirred. I thought I had it where it was supposed to be and poured it into molds and fridged it. It came out very soft and spreadable. Not bad but it did not turn out in a hard cheese as yours had. I was so disappointed. This morning I took it out of the fridge and decided I had nothing to lose by trying to cook it even further. Again, I cooked and cooked. It did indeed reduce quite a bit and I think I had it to where it really should be and decided to mold and refrigerator again. Now I have a firmer cheese--sort of like cream cheese -- again no where near it can be sliced. Any suggestions or thoughts as to why I cannot get this cheese to harden? The taste is wonderful. Thanks for all your recipes and the time and energy you put into your channel. It is appreciated!
+Jill 4 Today Did you convert the measurements to imperial? Did you use agar powder or flakes. If using the flake you need to use about 3 to 4 times the amount you would use in powder format. Also, the agar needs to cook long enough for it to activate.
Hi Anya -- this info helps. I am in the US and was going by the cup and teaspoon measurements. Is this incorrect? I am not sure what you mean by Imperial. Second -- good to know about the agar agar. Mine IS flakes. So using more should definitely make a difference. I will try it again with your suggestions. The flavor is very very good. Happy New Year. PS -- if you could advise me about conversion etc., that would be helpful. --Jill
I am so happy I found your channel! I'm trying to make the change to a vegan lifestyle and your recipes make it so much easier and fun for me. I have things to look forward to making. I'm so excited to try making this cheese! 😊
Hi: I Lovely! Just want to say I made this cheese also. 1st batch got loose, my own fault as I preground the almonds and think my agar was too little. I did reduce the herbs and salt, (just my preference)and used plain almond milk with just a little dried basil and sage. My result is a mozarella-like cheese that I like. I like to make that tomato-mozarella-basil salad and this will be beautiful! Thanks again. Love it, don't feel guilty about sneaking cheese now, as I was also concerned about the dairy protein and my heart. ; )
Just made this and waiting for it to cool down! It tasted delicious (when it was still in the pan), but a little bit too garlicy for my likings, so I added a bit of nutmeg to soften the taste and holy moly, it tasted super cheesy! I also added nutritional yeast for a more cheesy flavour!
How much nutmeg and yeast did you add please?

It's hard for me to use agar agar because I use it in biology lab every day in the petri dishes. All I can think of is all the bacteria I grew on it.
+Mallory yeah, that puts me off too... when I think agar agar, I think of the nutrients for the bacteria and bacteria... not a nice smell =S
+Mallory it's all better than gelatin because it's dead pig's skin and bone... Better use agar agar which is a sort of alga after all.

o8 shooter 9o wooooooow omg guys give this loser a medal for most original comment ever!!! dumbass
o8 shooter 9o dude, shut up. I also eat meat but I'm not a jerk like you.
miamar, that was rude I didn't do anything to you
o8 shooter 9o sorry didn't mean to offend you :( it was just kind of jerky for you to say that
Yum! Really enjoyed watching you in your kitchen!💜I will try this!
I can't wait to make this cheese! It looks super easy and if I can find a way to make my own cheese that will help me save money because as you know vegan cheese is expensive! I do have a question... can anyone tell me how long this cheese lasts in the fridge?
Namaste
+White Lotus Tarot It will last about a week in the fridge or you can freeze it... but it is best fresh.
Thank You! ♥
I made this cheese and it set up so great even before I popped it into the fridge! It smells heavenly…haven’t tasted it yet but as soon as it is cold, I have mixed together pecan pieces, herbs and vegan Parmesan cheese to roll it in. Can’t wait!
Great to hear!
I am definitely going to have to try this! My boyfriends mom makes this cheese ball that is always a HUGE hit at the holidays, but it contains animal products :'( So I am going to make this and bring it so I can have some "cheese" too! :D Thanks!
Erin Ellis Glad you like it and will have something to take along that is plant based :-)
You are making me hungry! So glad you like it so much. Making this today!
It's moments like this where I feel the world really does need to go vegan. Once this happens, humans will evolve further.
Simba?
It's people like you who give vegans a bad name.
Simba why are you even vegetarian then? 😂
Awwww thank you so much. xox
hi, I turned into vegan last week and I am soooo happy with your channel it is very helpful indeed! but I have a quastion plz, I can't find the ager ager powder any where, what can I use instead of it?
I also had a problem with finding agar powder when I became vegan, but then i found that you can order it from the internet for an afordoble price, just order it don't be afraid agar powder is à big part of being vegan.
use gelatine from animals
@@mkaizn Firstly, that defeats the purpose. Secondly, it doesn't act the same way as agar. It melts to water when heated, but agar just melts gently.
@@xymonau2468 why did you reply to a comment that is 3 years old
@@mkaizn Well, this is the first time I have watched this video, and the question may be relevant to other people who are new to it. Why do you feel so strongly about answering old questions that you had to comment? Is it an obsession with you?
I made and gave them out with holiday treats! They were a hit!
+Debby Dong Fantastic!!
OMG you're an Aussie. I hope you live in Oz too because that means all your ingredients can be found here.
Yep... on the Gold Coast :-)
All the ingredients are available pretty much everywhere
wow I want to try this! Can't believe the texture!
Rhiannon Smith It's so tasty!!!
I wish u were my mum.
Josh Howson Awww sweet :-) BTW my son's name is Josh!!
Meant to be. My mum is still a non vegan. :(
Your son is very lucky to have you.
I tried this recipe with Italian seasoning for a herb mix and I must say it tasted good thank you for posting the video recipe
tabby A Glad you like it :-)
Please watch out for all that toxic plastic.
My god, have you ever microwaved with plastic? Lol. Just waking up is bad for your health
paulsonjeff I guess you haven't read any of the articles about plastic, have you?
***** ain't nothing like a little fear mongering. What about foods that are sold in a bag?
paulsonjeff
What kind of bag?
Just so you understand what I'm saying requires further reading on your part, here's a quickie article to bring you up to speed.
www.eco-novice.com/2015/03/eat-less-plastic-33-ways-to-keep.html
I am not a fan of putting hot liquid in my Blendtec. I am going to try this but without the hot water just room temp. also I am soaking my almonds and cashews first. I got rid of all Tephlon cooking and stick with stainless steel or cast iron.
I'll definitely try this one

Jelliebe Enjoy :-)
Good video & the cheese looks excellent.
Looks DELICIOUS! I'll try this soon... Thanks!😍
Looking forward to trying this. Thanks for sharing!
--Jill
Stephanie Treasure The conversions are on the website. My cup holds 250ml, my tablespoon is 1 tbsp. + 1tsp imperial (total 20ml) :-)
I'm am inspired to try this.
I used arrowroot instead of tapioca. And it worked! Anya you are the talk of vegan town in the netherlands. 🌱😉
clasien Fantastic, so glad it worked for you and that you liked it :-) Vegan town sounds like an awesome place ;-)
Looks very good!!
Ronnette Mckinnis Thank you :-)
I am so happy I found your channel! I'm trying to make the change to a vegan lifestyle and your recipes make it so much easier and fun for me. I have things to look forward to making. I'm so excited to try making this cheese! 😊
+Kayla Ollivierre Congratulations on making the change x So glad my recipes are helping you 👍❤️🌞😘
Hi: I Lovely! Love it, don't feel guilty about sneaking cheese now, as I was also concerned about the dairy protein and my heart. ; )
+universallyinsync Glasd you like it :-)
I have to try this.
Enjoy!
Sister, what a great idea!
Glad you liked it :-)
