    This was the best paint product review I've ever seen. A clear, non-situational, 'never know how much is the product and how much is the reviewer' type clips. To say nothing of the majority of these videos where for the first time, a guy tries his new sprayer--or _any_ sprayer, for that matter.
    Only thing I'd change is I might occasionally call out or otherwise display some approximate idea of what's going on with the pressure/volume as you're adjusting it.
    Edit: opinion on the resulting finishes?

    Bought the graco ultra max , love it , however one annoying thing the ultra max uses a different size tip guard thread. also I bought a 90 degree radiator hose that fits over the paint pick up, so I can either run under a tap with constant clean water or solvent. Great videos also thanks for replying with help 👍

    Hi. Id consider the Wagner over the Graco purely because of all the control options without needing to change the tips to suit your application. As per paint, if its bare aluminium youll need an etch primer and then use any good exterior paint, if theyre powdercoated youll need to sand the shine away and maybe start with an oil based primer and then whichever top coat you like.

    Great comparison, most spray gun reviews are really vague. Your's had heaps of useful information and the demo was exactly what I wanted to see. I'm looking at either sprayer to re-paint my aluminum window frames inside and externally at home. Carpet has been laid, walls and trims painted already unfortunately. Would the Graco (ultra or ultra max?) be the best for this task due to the low amount of mist making it easier to spray indoors, or more drop sheets and the Wagner? Also... any idea what type of paint should be used on aluminum windows that lasts? Thanks again, great to know you are in Brooklyn.

    Great video. What gives the better finish? Xvlp or airless with fflp tip? Thinking of getting either an airless graco GXFF (with the hopper) or a Wagner 5000 xvlp. I know it's quicker with the airless but is that at the expense of a smoother finish compared to hvlp or xvlp? I will be using them for doors and trim. Cheers.

    Hi Ali, Fantastic video. Could I ask how the Wagner xvlp compares to standard hvlp systems like Fuji mini mite for example? Ive not got any experience in spraying, but need to get a system quick! Was all set to get a 4 stage hvlp but then discovered this video about xvlp and I'm now totally confused which route to take! I will be spraying furniture (not huge volume) using both waterborne/based and solvent based. Thanks!

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  5 лет назад

      Hi Andrew, handhelds are designed to be used in conjunction with full sized units, so a furniture maker should in reality have both, one for quick on the go jobs and one for all the larger work. The handheld does become heavy quickly especially with a full pot of paint. So I recommend you get both however this will get you through

    I had a Hvlp years ago and found with water based paints as the air pushed over the nozzle it would start to dry around the nozzle ,forming dried bits of paint on the tip which would eventually spit onto the job. Is this still a problem??? Enjoy these clips,

    • @westsprayairless8763

    • @westsprayairless8763

      Definitely use the fine spray attachment, thin 10% maximum with water to increase atomisation, spraying aqua enamel is the only way to get it to look decent.

  • @robalan57
    @robalan57 6 лет назад

    Is the Titan FlexSpray similar to the Focus? Wouldn't you get less paint by turning down the pressure or using a fine tip on the Ultra? Couldn't that be used for touch ups?

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  6 лет назад

      Yes Flexi Spray is the DIY version of the Focus, The Graco Ultra Tips are all FFLP tips, if you turn down the pressure you will get tails and holidays, it would be very difficult to blend paint with the Graco if not impossible purely because the minimum pressure on the fflp tips is about 1100 PSI, but if by touchup you mean for eg repainting a door frame or the whole front of a door then thats ok

    Thank you so much for this video. I could not decide what kind of apparatus to buy for painting my furniture. The price is almost the same. I was told that Graco does not work with two-component varnishes. Is this really so? Can you tell me if Graco works with water-based wood primers? Do I need to dilute ordinary wood paints with water, adjusting the desired viscosity?
    Thank you in advance

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  4 года назад

      The Graco UltraMax will work just fine, thinning should be as per directions on the paint can, anything being sprayed should really be thinned to aid in the atomising of the paint.

    It looks to my untrained eye like the pattern with your Graco has tails, meaning it wasn't set up properly: Too low a pressure setting, too large of a tip or a worn tip, or your material needs thinning if you're at max pressure.

    • @westsprayairless8763
      @westsprayairless8763  6 лет назад +1

      You are correct, the paint in the Graco was unthinned and the pressure wasnt turned up all the way, however the tailing is so light due to the FFLP tips that it actually blended in perfectly, The Graco rep who did the machine set up insisted i demo it without thinning to show its ability. your untrained eye is very well trained indeed
