Procrastination is a puzzling phenomenon. We delay things we want to do. We postpone what we know is best for us. It's irrational. Almost everyone struggles with procrastination at some point, and we all want to be able to stop procrastinating when that happens. However, in order to successfully overcome our procrastination, it’s important to fully understand it first. There are many reasons why people procrastinate. Among the most common excuses are poor time management or being easily distracted, If we procrastinate over a long period of time, then we can become demotivated and disillusioned with our work. Consequently, we become life losers. I used to be a really big procrastinator. It was always a big problem in the school, when i was leaving my homework’s and projects at the last moment and then i was getting bad marks. When i started working at the company i was always ,, disappointing,, my boss until i was fired. But thanks for internet, where i found many tips and programs, after which i started being more productive in my life. And there is also a website that is really amazing-makeBetter.me

For sure! Procrastination can be so confusing. Part of your brain knows what to do. It knows you’d feel better if you just got that task done. It knows you’d feel better if you started that chore. And yet you put things off! But when you start to see your procrastination more clearly, as a simple avoidance of distress, it can help tremendously! So glad this video was helpful; thanks for watching and commenting!

Hi Dr. Allison, your videos have helped me a lot to stay positive, and have changed my attitude towards certain things in life. So thank you! Currently, something is really bothering me. Can you please tell me how to deal with someone who apologizes for the same mistake but doesn't change their behavior?? It really hurts. I need your help. Thanks

What does it mean if I procrastinate the very little things also? I know it's a huge problem in my life but I can't stop. I procrastinate even showering, doing the dishes, doing laundry, etc. I think it probably has to do with my depression but why does something as simple as showering make me feel so distressed? It really is a feeling of distress too. I feel like I always have to be doing something to entertain my mind or else I just feel distressed, I guess is a good way to put it. Do I have an anxiety disorder? I'm not sure.

I was born and raised in Texas, so perhaps that's the accent you're hearing!

@@DrAllisonAnswers but you always begin your videos with "Heyaa". Is that the new yorker "Hi Yall" or the Texas cowboys horse riding shout "iiihaa". Greets from Afghanistan.
