    Great content! Great factors to consider in retiring. You mentioned the poor passport of Filipinos. I’m targeting Eastern Malaysia. Women are traditional, beautiful, college educated, collaborative in relationships, not as consumer driven/materialistic as some Filipinas. I’d like to travel extensively while I can. A passport similar to US can be important. After a couple of years if that doesn’t work back to the Phillipines or Vietnam to look for me.
    I’ve been all over the Phillipines. Very beautiful country and people. I’ll check out CDO soon based on your videos. Intriguing to me. Universities near is important because they offer many interesting intellectual activities and culture. Thank you for your efforts 🙏🏼

    Good Job thanks for the overview. I’ll next be there for the month of December. Long time away so I have plenty of time to pick my potential retirement locations. I think I’ll spend 3-4 days in each location just to get the flavor of each. Your location will most likely be on the list. My Filipina lives in Manila and has 2 kids that will be with us this time so I will need to let them have some fun as well.

    Another great video, thanks Rob & Chrissy! You covered some great points. I'm from Florida, and I wanted to get away from the heat and humidity, so I moved to Colorado, and I love it here, over 20 years now, except for when the snow starts to fly here. I'd be happy in the Phils, as you describe, with a breeze and little need for air conditioning. I'd prefer the mountains to the beach too. My girl is in Pagadian also, they might even know each other. I'll just have to check it out myself. As always, great content and editing!

    BGC is the most walkable city in the Philippines. Wide sidewalks, and you can walk anywhere in less than 20 minutes. Modern, international, and safe. Plus only 10 minutes to Makati and less than 30 minutes to the airport.

      1500$ a month is normal budget to live comfortable, you could get a girlfriend and start a sari sari store to at least make a few bucks, always rent, if you invest anything prepare to walk away as you can only own a condo as a foreigner.

    • @Billy_B_Goat
      @Billy_B_Goat 11 месяцев назад +4

      @sherif... if you invest that $300k in US Gov bonds you will get about 5% return that's approx $1,250/month + $500/SS-mnth = $1,750/mth and you retain your principle for your lifetime. Try and live on $1,200 per month and you are saving $5K/year for emergencies or additional investments.... not financial advice, just for your consideration. Peace and Love, B Goat

      That 300k deposited in a highly conservative banking account could easily net you with an earning of 18k annually at 6%, could easily get higher with zero risk. Talk to your banker like Chase. Chase and especially Charles Schwab make cash withdrawals in anywhere very easy and free of charge. The 18k translates to 1500 USD on top of your 500 pension. The 2000 total per month will provide a good living with higher standards than many Western cities, including US. If you want a moderately inexpensive modern city, totally English-speaking, consider Manchester in England. As a US citizen you can stay visa free for 6 months and you can take 1-2 months vacations in nearby European cities, return to Manchester to reset the 6 months. The culture there is very similar to US. But Philippine living is stress-free and idyllic in rural areas close or on the beach. Choose a small town where transport does not necessitate buying a car. It's a hassle. Motorbike, if you don't have kids, is a better lifestyle.

    Thanks for this video. I have a question about the ambulance service that, perhaps, you can address in a future video. From what I understand, there is no 911 service in most of the Philippines; so, is one responsible for getting themselves to the hospital in an emergency or is there a way to call for an ambulance. Any thoughts you have would be much appreciated.

      @@FlyMeToThePhilippinesanother difference between Iloilo and CDO is that ILOILO is an old city that already existed since the Spanish era of the 1700s up to the present, which means Iloilo has been populated by cosmopolitan people and therefore has a long history of nice European, Spanish, American, Chinese, Jewish cultures and traditions. CDO is a newer city and therefore has no long-held traditions of culture and traditions. Its culture is recent. ILOILO's culture and traditions are old-world European, this is something ILOILO is just proud of. ILOILO's architecture is also old-world romantic European, very nice , and this is also something CDO and the rest of Mindanao don't have. The only common areas that Iloilo and CDO have are the modern buildings, but Iloilo is several steps ahead because it already has some really big and nice privately developed townships which have harmoniously blended with the old heritage districts. ILOILO also has more universities than CDO, 8 at present and to become10 with the new addition of National University and the St.La Salle University Iloilo campus. Iloilo is the only city outside Metro Manila with both a La Salle and an Ateneo,an Assumption and a Westbridge which is the brother school of Southridge in Alabang, Muntinlupa. In ILOILO, we also have San Agustin University, a St. Paul University, also the oldest Maritime University in Asia, also a UST -Angelicum School. Five of these universities have already celebrated their 100th year of existence. As regards hospitals, ILOILO'S hospitals and medical centers are comparable in modernity and facilities to those in Metro Manila. Another advantage of ILOILO over CDO is the presence of many mm Museums and Art Galleries. There are plentiful beautiful Spanish era Roman Catholic Churches. And Iloilo has plenty of well-maintained parks, plazas, squares, and riverside and creekside Esplanades, outdoor Wellness facilities and biking lanes. ILOILO'S 6 of its 8 big public markets will be completed soon after these were demolished and are now being reconstructed to become state-of-the-art public markets. No more wet shoes when buying your fresh fish and vegetables and fruits. The beautiful 1938 Art Deco main building of the IloIlo Central Market has been maintained with some enhancements to suit the present lifestyle needs. Overall, Iloilo is a harmonious blend of. Beautiful well-preserved heritage structures and modern state-of-the-art buildings. Parks and religious shrines, a clean city and a city conscious of its beautification efforts and wellness facilities. A d food in ILOILO is outstanding. ILOILO is the only city in the Philippines at present that is declared as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. All of these qualities of ILOILO means that ILOILO and CDO are not comparable to each other in any way.
