I watched an interview with Chris where he was talking about suicide and how the media only speaks about it when a famous person dies. He goes on to talk about how suicide affects thousands of families a year and that no life is more important than any other. Always humble and empathetic of others, Chris I wish you could have gotten the help you needed. Even if you don't like it, we'll be talking about you forever man....I hope you found your peace.
Chris was known mainly for his vocals, and rightfully so, but damn, this just goes to show exactly how great of a guitar player he was too. Music has lost one of the greatest people who has ever picked up an instrument. RIP Chris Cornell.
Michael Addis You've never seen a singer blow their own song? I have.. lol Seriously though, I saw Soundgarden live in Atlanta last year.. WOW, The whole concert I kept saying to myself "wow, Chris NAILED IT!" :-)
brandon9271 I've seen plenty of videos of Chris blowing his own songs haha. That man has NOT looked after his voice throughout most of career. Have to say though, when he gets it right it's like it came from heaven!
+serious back I totally agree with you there. I've seen vids of SG and audioslave where he's voice was just blown. I'm pretty sure he smokes or did for years anyhow. That plus belting out notes at the top of your range night after night on tour will destroy your voice. Steven Tyler, Robert Plant and many others have been victim of this. That's why I was so amazed at how well he did at the show in ATL. I heard he's had some coaching in recent years on how not to shred your vocal cords to a pulp. It's paid off because he's sounding great as ever
Reading these comments are great. No hate, everyone just loves Chris so much. God damnit I miss this man. RIP Chris, your music helped me more than you can begin to know.
OMG... an acoustic version of THAT song?!!!... Really, this man is a MAN. I can't believe someone can be so talented! He just does everything he wants, and always makes it awsome... Thank you so much for sharing this treasure.
Amazing that in all the tributes he was called a singer and a rhythm guitarist. Neither of those really do him justice. He was not a 'singer'. He was a voice, which was an instrument all of its own.
This was the first Soundgarden song I heard and was like "Holy Shit, this band rocks". Always my favorite "Seattle band". Was lucky enough to see him live acoustic and I will say it was a top 5 event ever in my life.
+Jason Spitz: Exactly! I'll do the same if I could! Honestly I have no words to describe this acoustic version. OMG this man is unbelievable. He does EVERYTHING he wants, on his own, as if it was just as easy as a kid's game. He is stunning. I'm always amazed when I watch his live performances, and honestly, I'd give everything to see him live (and doing that song, that would just be the cherry on the top of the icecream!). You're just s right Jason Spitz! (sometimes I wonder if frustration and jalousy don't make people act really weird... giving thumbs down to this... honestly??? No way, it must be a joke)
I had a dream that Chris Cornell, Jimi Hendrix, Cliff Burton and Bonzo started a super group and they opened with out on the tiles! First time I had tears in my eyes since my father past 15 years ago.
My favorite song, by my favorite singer…his voice has never gotten old for me, and I’ve not heard anyone who comes close to touching what this man had.
Back in the 90's when aic, pearl jam, stp and nirvana did MTV unplugged, I always wanted to see soundgarden do it as well. All those bands did excellent performances but these shows by Chris proves to me that soundgarden would have topped them all had they done it.
Felt like a family member when he passed. Tore my heart out. Forever in my memories. Him and Chester best rock singers IMO. Peace brother. We’ll see you on the other side some day with Chester as well.
LYRICS Just in case someone wants to sing along I got up feeling so down I got off being sold out I've kept the movie rolling But the story's getting old now, oh yeah I just looked in the mirror And things aren't looking so good I'm looking California and feeling Minnesota, oh yeah So now you know, who gets mystified So now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today Yeah, it gives me butterflies, gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again Yeah I'm feeling Oh, I'm feeling outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined Oh yeah Yeah Someone let the dogs out They'll show where the truth is The grass is always greener Where the dogs are shitting, oh yeah I'm feeling that I'm sober Even though I'm drinking I can't get any lower Still I feel I'm sinking So now you know, who gets mystified So now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today Yeah, it gives me butterflies gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again Oh I'm feeling Oh, I'm feeling outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined Oh yeah, hmm Outshined, oh oh Oh, so now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today Yeah, it gives me butterflies gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again Oh I'm feeling Oh, I'm feeling Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today Yeah, it gives me butterflies gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again Oh, I'm feeling Oh, I'm feeling Outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined
Phenomenal. This song is hard to sing first off, and playing the guitar to this at the same time is even more difficult. Only Chris can actually nail it
No body seems to be talking about his guitar playing skills, man he is a great acoustic player, what tightness , along with vocals, crazy!! Sexy as hell.
I just came back here to see if the song that he said was 'hard as fuck' at the Reading show was Outshined, cause I was just watching a concert from 2011 where someone yelled out 'Outshined' and he said that its hard as fuck to play on acoustic. You'd never know it here!
Oh I totally agree, was cool to see in 2011 he was like nah, hard as fuck, but 2 years later he went right into it and it was perfect. Definitely not easy on acoustic.
I'd really say only about a third of the song is really difficult. The riff/verse along with the chorus are both pretty simple. The prechorus, who's chords also make up the interlude before the last chorus, are really the only part that make the song tricky. That being said, those chords are difficult, but aside from that the song isn't bad. Plus, those easy part are in the exact same rhythm as the vocal line, which helps a lot for singing it.
fuck yeah, tried it today. I have so much trouble singing over these riffs. Chris was such a skilled musician on so many levels, my deepest respects for his qualities.
Nah man he wanted out and had the stones to get it done. Be glad for him. Wish HIM eternal peace. It aint about us no more, he gave us his earthliness..all of it left on the stage. 💚
This is the saddest rock song ever written. He's telling you all the good looks, partying, and fame aren't enough to fight depression.... Knowing the lyrics make it more painful with each listen..

Bro he kilt himself. I think that means he don’t wanna come back.

Josh Simpson he was a fantastic guitar player, had brilliant rhythm
Amen dude
Heck yes! He was a very underrated guitarist. Very unique style.
The creativity and talent it takes to write that song is off the charts.
I can't stop missing this guy. One of my heroes for sure. I wish he knew how important he was to his family and us all. Still stings in 2022.
I will never get over Chris being gone.
2023 😢
still stings in 2024
RIP. This is my favorite Soundgarden song, just phenomenal.

Shredding that martin baby. Not easy to play and sing like that at the same time. Such a talent. RIP Brotha.
Still missing you more than ever, Chris. Nobody sings like you any more. I wish peace for you and your family. ❤️
This song has a whole new meaning for me now that Chris has left this world R.I.P.
Hope they buried his guitar with him
He just sits there. A guitar & a voice. Commanding amazement effortlessly.
The Voice.

Who would've been lead vocals, Jimi or Chris?
My favorite song, by my favorite singer…his voice has never gotten old for me, and I’ve not heard anyone who comes close to touching what this man had.
OUTSTANDING !!!! Love the acoustic version !

Most of their songs were conceived on an acoustic.
I fucking agree
i think i saw an interview where Chris said that he kinda hated MTV at the time and didn't think unplugged was for them
Facts
I’ve always thought this! That would have been absolutely mind blowing! 💔🤘🏽
The smirk at 2:17 is him saying "Yeah I'm the fucking man"
fr man, a legend
Lmao toooo funny
That’s not even him lol you all are chasing a ghost 😂 yeah he’s the man alright and he’s coming to getcha 👻

R.I.P Chris..Thx so much for sharing with us your precious art.
A masterful landmark musician, his voice and presence is already very missed. God rest your soul Chris Cornell.
RIP Chris. Miss you already man. :( Loved this acoustic version.
3:49 some great guitar playing there. This looks hard as fuck to play and sing, let alone infront of a crowd. Chris is a beast
And on a acoustic aswell🤪
Nothing better than an acoustic CC show. I will forever miss them....
Play that song on an acoustic and sing it... let alone like this man. i will watch and listen as long as this video is available.
Thank you for everything Chris you changed my life!

Just in case someone wants to sing along
I got up feeling so down
I got off being sold out
I've kept the movie rolling
But the story's getting old now, oh yeah
I just looked in the mirror
And things aren't looking so good
I'm looking California and feeling Minnesota, oh yeah
So now you know, who gets mystified
So now you know, who gets mystified
Show me the power child
I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
Yeah, it gives me butterflies, gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
Yeah I'm feeling
Oh, I'm feeling outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined
Oh yeah
Yeah
Someone let the dogs out
They'll show where the truth is
The grass is always greener
Where the dogs are shitting, oh yeah
I'm feeling that I'm sober
Even though I'm drinking
I can't get any lower
Still I feel I'm sinking
So now you know, who gets mystified
So now you know, who gets mystified
Show me the power child
I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
Yeah, it gives me butterflies gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
Oh I'm feeling
Oh, I'm feeling outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined
Oh yeah, hmm
Outshined, oh oh
Oh, so now you know, who gets mystified
Show me the power child
I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
Yeah, it gives me butterflies gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
Oh I'm feeling
Oh, I'm feeling
Show me the power child
I'd like to say
That I'm down on my knees today
Yeah, it gives me butterflies gives me away
Till I'm up on my feet again
Oh, I'm feeling
Oh, I'm feeling
Outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined

Phenomenal. This song is hard to sing first off, and playing the guitar to this at the same time is even more difficult. Only Chris can actually nail it

Thanks for that post.

Look at his fingers dude. Its a complex song to play. PLUS he has to sing over it. Which is hard as hell ANYWAYS.
Oh I totally agree, was cool to see in 2011 he was like nah, hard as fuck, but 2 years later he went right into it and it was perfect. Definitely not easy on acoustic.

Abszolút gyönyörű!!!!! Nekem sötétnek tűnik a felvétel, alig látom az arcát.
Saw him in STL back bout '08. Don't know if he ever smoked but at that show we could not smoke in the whole building per Chris' request
+hellraiser7874 He used to smoke prior to 2002. He quit everything back then.

“Grass is always greener where the dogs are sh*tting”... I say that to myself every time I feel a touch of envy, then I laugh. Thanks Chris Cornell.

Quite a gem.
I miss you so much Chris.
gran este hombre ,hoy siempre
How someone with a brain, can dislike this?
Wow, amazing!!!
Time to get my Badmotorfinger on! Here's to a pioneer in his own right. RIP
Me encanta, esa sensación sureña que produce el acústico acompañado del sonido Zeppelin
friggin amazing!
This is the saddest rock song ever written. He's telling you all the good looks, partying, and fame aren't enough to fight depression.... Knowing the lyrics make it more painful with each listen..
when u can only sing perfectly, u are a vocalist. But when u can sing perfectly + playing difficult riffs together, you are a MUSICIAN.
Damn you! You Rock God you! So damn in the pocket. Amazing. We be missing you buddy!!
