    My dad used to sing this to me at bedtime... both giggled away. I still find myself giggling when it pops into my head.

    This was always a favourite on junior choice Saturday morning on the old BBC light program along with other classic comedy records like My Brother by Terry Scott, My boomerang won't come back by Charlie Drake, Right said Fred and digging a hole by Bernard Cribbins. Tubby the Tuba by Danny Kaye and loads of others. Lovely memories of better days.

    40 years since we lost Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Leonard Rossiter. 1984 was a terrible year for British comedy 😢

    It makes me cry every day and night when I hear our Tommy Cooper sing don't jump off the roof Dad bless him Tommy was a great man and he went out like a light and we were all laughing 💔 😢 SADLEY HE died 💔 on stage that night Tommy s passing 💔 😢 I will never forget 💔 because I was thier Tommy was and still is a genius 💔 😢 SADLEY missd but will always be in our hearts 💕 💞 💔 😢 God bless you Tommy

    My dear dad passed away two years ago, but this was the one song we all sang really loud because he loved it, so we all did too xxxx

    Always found Tommy Cooper extremely funny. When I watched hi TV shows originally I had tears in my eyes and often ended up rolling on the floor laughing - literally

      +john dyhouse I saw him live and he was one of the funniest men on stage you knew what he was going to and the old gags but he made them as funny as the first time you heard them.He did his Cooking with Cooper sketch with the Chicken and the Duck it was hilarious

    Taught my now adult son all the words when he was 4. He'd sing away, the weeding and "sneeding" was hard!! XXX I taught my bestie in the early 60s. We all loved it. X

    My dad used to have this single which I lent to a friend...who then, conveniently LOST it. Never forgave him and miss owning this little bit of British history.

    I never knew Tommy made a record until about five minutes ago, I was watching a TV show about his life. You really can't help but laugh at this comedy genius, anyone remember him tying a handkerchief over the wooden duck's eyes so it couldn't see the cards? 😂🤣😂

    Ah, this reminds me of my Dad and then his Dad. It probably was written for my Granddad. Unless you're working class and British you will not understand why this song is so perfectly typical of the British experience.

      Naw mate, back then people were allowed to have a sense of humour. Try releasing a record like that today and you'll have the lefties and PC police on your back like a ton of bricks. And nobody would hear it... the BBC would ban it instantly.

    I always remember being a kid in a caravan at a holiday camp in the uk ... watching tommy cooper sat with my grandad... till the electric cut out 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️ must of been about 1995/96

    Can't renember it all but, I do recall where they tell Dad to 'Jump Off The Cliff' instead of 'Jump In The Lake'.

    Adrian - I meant no disparagement of Tommy Cooper who did make that song his own, just as African-American singers (and Scottish bagpipers for that matter) have made "Amazing Grace" their own.

    re the comments about how British this is...the songwriter was an American, Cy Coben, born in Jersey City, NJ. He wrote a lot of comedy/novelty songs as detailed in Wikipedia and elsewhere.

      Amazing Grace is a great African American spritiual, guess what? it was wriitten by a Methodist/ Anglican clergyman.He was English.
