betelgeuse is a character who you ARE supposed to take seriously when it comes to his insane ramblings. the things he says about subaru are all speaking about his character, everything he says has atleast 2-3 meanings aside from the words themselves. he is truly a product of masterful character writing. betelgeuse is a literary device
This show is amazing and one of my favourite stories of all time BUT this episode is easily one of the best Episodes of Television I have ever seen in my life
You first think Petelgeuse one shotted Rem, and then twists the limbs of her lifeless body. It gets so much worse once you realise Rems still alive during all that.
Btw it should be Petelgeuse, not Betelgeuse. After Season 1 aired, Tappei made a comment about how it's specifically Petelgeuse for some plot reason. Great reaction as always!
It's been an entertaining series to watch, but this episode alone makes transcends it to something else. What that "else" is I'm still unsure, but now I can see this series has no bounds as to how far it can go to surprise you.
Frustrating, isn't it? That's what happens to everyone who watches this anime. But bear with it now! Be patient and keep watching. I guarantee that if you watch until the last episode, you will definitely enjoy it.
