  • I decided to go to Ankara by bus.
    My longest bus journey.
It is 2085 km from Tehran to Ankara.
In Iran, we passed by the cities of Karaj, Qazvin, Zanjan, Tabriz and Maragheh.
We went to Turkey from the Bazargan border.
In Turkey, we passed by the cities of Erzurum, Arzanjan, Sivas and Kayseri.
I am kamellia,I am Iranian and I live in Rasht.
Sometimes I live in Ankara, Turkiye.

Great video. But I could never sit on a bus for 35 hours; I would have to go by train. At least on trains you can walk around. I notice no toilets on your bus, so that would be another no! But the bus looked comfortable enough; pity there was no footage of the night you spent on the bus. Would like to have seen what food you were eating. I also once did a 35 hour bus trip - in the Peruvian Andes from Huancayo and Cuzco; a real roller coaster of a ride in a beat up bus with dust coming in through the windows and seats designed for dwarfs.

Is it so expensive to fly?Went from SFrancisco to NYC once years ago which took 3 days, never again.Best way to travel is by train if flight tkts are too expensive but I guess there is no connection between Teheran/Ankara.

I'm curious too about how much the price difference between the airfare vs land is and in short, what is the motivation to choose one over the other, but I'm pretty sure there are all air travel options between Tehran and Ankara or Istanbul.
On the subject of Amtrack, yes the observation wagon is the way to see and enjoy America in full (May be hearing Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land" along the way! but as a person who has done it all, Amtrack, unless you have some special situation, in general, will cost you more than any airfare cost, even if you buy the ticket at the last minute with no deals. And for sure, I love traveling in a personal car across the costs (The shortest I did was 3 nights and more daytime) except twice getting speed tickets in Ohio from their States kind officer, all was pleasant.
