    That's a bummer. Things in the world are changing SO, SO FAST. For example, Turkey's economy has been struggling with 80% inflation and, just everywhere else skyrocketing energy cost. However Turkey just made a FANTASTIC economic arrangement with Russia. And it's a HUGE GAME CHANGER. Turkey will become THE distribution hub for Europe and Asia for Russian gas and oil. This deal has far reaching implications, should enrich turkey and completely turn around it's economy, not to mention reducing energy cost and thus inflation.

      It’s just the energy in America for me that I don’t like. My area doesn’t have crime but its so boring and stressful. Maybe if you want to have fun you can easily spend $ 100,000 a year, but I would rather just save. I like the mentality of Turks and middle easterners better than the mentality of Americans too. People are more free in certain ways.

    • @jamesbrown9721
      @jamesbrown9721 Год назад +3

      Social decline? What is that supposed to mean. I don’t see anymore social decline in America than when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s. In fact, the country was a lot more dangerous back then, and the stats prove it. The ones complaining the loudest about crime in the US usually don’t live in the areas and cities where crime is happening. Crime is usually a function of media hype in America. The US is still a very safe country. The problem with the US is the high cost of real-estate It’s great if you’re a homeowner, but not so great if your a renter. Turkey is a better value if you’re not earning local wages. Remember, they have a 100% a year inflation rate. America’s is 8% If you think you have it bad, try being a Turkish wage earner.

    About residence permit requirements, Turkish people are extremely annoyed because for really short period of time too many foreigners started to relocate into Turkey with easy residence permit and kind of invaded some cities. Rent prices skyrocketed especially in Antalya, Istanbul and Izmır due to foreigners. Approximate number of foreigners including asylum seekers, illegal immigrants and legally long-term residence is 14-15 millions. So that's gigantic number. From now on, I don't think anybody can easily get residence permit except tourist visa.

    • @selahattinsongur9620
      @selahattinsongur9620 Год назад +3

      In this comment you sound like you are from our country and I don't know if you are Turkish or not, but I will add a few things here.
      You said many things such as uncontrolled immigrants etc... Those are the problems which we need to deal with. (I mean our leaders & ministers need to deal.)
      These are not foreigners' problems(at least in general for now it is not their problems, but when they become citizens, do business, and start getting affected deeply and feel the way locals feel, then they will jump on the same boat or they will just look for a new destination.)
      Some of them cannot buy homes in their countries or some find it so expensive and they look for alternative methods, basically everyone's reasons are different (some buy to live, some buy to invest and so on...) That is why they take advantage of our country's current situation (sad to say even this in here, but that is the unfortunate reality.)
      They did the same thing in Asian countries or in Latin America and examples can vary as well.
      Yes, they come here and spend their money on things and existing problems grow. (Especially rent and housing prices are at crazy levels in the biggest cities.)
      But the main idea, we cannot blame them for coming here and buying places in our country. In the basic concept, they want to have their place and also want to enjoy this wonderful country. I am sure if that was the case for us, some people would move to other countries, take advantage of the strong currency, live and experience other cultures, live in a better climate, and enjoy their life as they wish.
      If that is the only problem, then selling any property to foreigners should be banned. The other things should be dealing with inner problems such as the economy, education systems, uncontrolled immigrant problem & uncontrolled/unregistered war escapers, and many more to add in here....
      But still when we think of the country's current situation, selling any property to foreigners should be forbidden as soon as possible by the rulers of the country. (One major example, Canada banned foreigners from buying residential property for 2 years.)
      On the other hand, I hope all the visiting people, and who are living for short or long term (new possible locals) here can enjoy their time as much as possible and have a wonderful experience in our country. Greetings!

      @@selahattinsongur9620 Selling property and citizenship must be banned and cancelled. Another is thing residence permit via renting a place, that's the dumbest thing for sure. Which other country gives residence permit just by renting a place?
      We can blame foreigners for sure. Coming here illegal ways that's not I can tolerate. Coming here for purpose of saving money and crowding cities like hell, taking advantages of bad economic situation and make people's life harder is not acceptable. That's colonialism in individual level.

    The agents and especially the landlords have started to ask full year rent that's because the landlords had many issues related to the foreigners about even though they agreed to rent an apartment for like 3 months, the foreigners just began to disappear and neither they paid nor they stayed in the apartments as they agreed in their contracts.That's why the local people had to bring protection measures for themselves and they started to ask the rent as an up front and for a long term. We also have de facto but unnamed housing crisis for a few years. The demand is really high and the supply can't catch up to it due to the currency crisis. Because the construction costs also became unreasonable prices.

      I own my own home in America, what they landlords are asking is MORE than my mortgage and bills.

    Hello Olga
    I’m aware your no longer in Antalya
    Question about apartments, condo etc are you required to have a credit report? Like in USA peoples credit report is a major consideration, 1st & deposit is required. Unsure what we should be prepared to present when we start apartment housing?

      I don’t know anything about a credit report unfortunately.
      This was our experience renting an apartment olgapronkina.com/travel/antalya-turkey-how-to-rent-an-apartment-long-term/
      But things might be different now in 2024
