I've been working 3rd shift at Waffle House for 23 years now. Trust me, ain't much I haven't seen. Fights, robberies, male and female body parts, kangaroos, missed a mass shooting by 2 miles.
Some drunk (naturally) 30-something year old man came in to our store with a 2 foot tall kangaroo. To this day I still have no clue what he was trying to say to me. I don't know if he was wanting to feed it, sell it or what. The way he was slurring his words made him too hard to understand.
The waffle house in Little Washington, Pennsylvania (Southwestern corner next to West Virginia state line) is no where near as good as the one shown here. Everything appears to be pre-cooked then warmed. Nothing like the ones I've eaten at in the south. Then again, the Taco Bell in town is nothing like the ones in California either. Night and day. Horrible.
Growing up, this spread was weeknight dinner as often as weekend breakfast! Only thing missing is plate of "little bacon" (fried salt pork) and another of fried mush!
I love apple butter. I used to buy it from small shops up in Vermont and bring it back to Philly. Two pieces of toast - butter up one side and apple butter the other once out of the toaster. Legendary!
You left out 10 tweekers all counting pennys to get 1 waffle, saturated in syrup, topped with powdered sugar...and a small black coffee to split. The parking lot fights over it are Epic! Great video!
I remember this video, and boy that was some feast they had, wasn't it? I am glad to hear you will be reacting to their "Trying southern fried chicken for the first time": video, I have that place 'Sweet Potatos" noted down on our list of places to visit, because we want to have what they had in the video especially that banana pudding! I enjoyed your reaction to this video! ☮💕
This might be my favorite Jolly video, Noah was awesome. There is a another video of Noah at the BBQ joint obviously and a ton of great content but Josh and Ollie also have a channel called Korean Englishmen. Really enjoy both these channels and the KE channel has some hilarious videos with a couple British rappers trying Korean food, can't recommend them enough. Sorry about big brother my guy. 💪
In St. Louis where I grew up, this is called a Slinger. Normally slingers have chili instead of the sausage gravy but fk it. I'd eat it. :D And yes, it's an after 2AM thing ... specifically 2 AM - 5:30 AM.
I made and canned about 40 half pints of apple butter this spring.. there is no way I'm gonna be able to eat it all. But I love cooking, and Breakfast, I mean big southern breakfast is one of my favorite things to cook for family and friends.
The Waffle House has a code for ordering food. When ordering hashbrowns. Scattered = spreading them out on the griddle to make them crunchy. Smothered = sautéed onions. Covered = melted cheese. Chunked = smoked ham. Diced = grilled tomatoes. Peppered = jalapeño peppers. Capped = grilled mushrooms. Topped = chili. & Country = sausage gravy.
If by processed you mean cooked, then yes. But when they say processed food is not good for you they usually mean something other than cooked food. Technically a raw steak is processed because it is no longer a cow. ANY food that is cooked can technically be called processed.@@TheDivayenta
@Batmandabomb I'm not saying American food is horrid, I'm saying if they served this great American food in Britain, we'd all be as fat as yoy Americans, Beans on toast might not be the greatest, but it keeps us from getting too wide
One of my favorite videos from Jolly. I think you will enjoy their channel. Wholesome, funny, and the 2 Brits who are long-time friends explore different cultures.
Somebody should make a competition video of Waffle House cooks and servers during busy hours…Amazing thing to watch as 4-5 servers holler out the orders to the cook…the cook looks like a maestro directing a symphony
It must be a regional thing, but where I lived at the time (NJ) White Castle and local diners were the "go to" places after clubbing. (They were, pretty much, the only places that were open 24 hours.) There weren't (and still aren't) any Waffle Houses in that area.
Jamal, I live near Palm Springs about 140 miles east of LAX. The closest Waffle House to me is in Goodyear, AZ, about 250 miles east on I-10. It's at Exit 129. I eat there when I go to spring training baseball games in Goodyear. I grew up in the Midwest and WH is mostly in the SE and the SW. They have about 2200 places in the US. It is the best reason I know of to drive to Phoenix. The guy in the overalls is a cook at a BBQ joint where they first ate American ribs, baked beans, etc. He took these two Brits out to explore other things in Georgia. I don't recall that WH has Kool-Aid but they have lots of sugar and syrup. The pecan waffles are really good. I don't like the chocolate ones so much. Decent bacon & sausage; love the grits; love scrambled eggs with cheese; Coffee used to be mediocre but is pretty good now. Coffee mugs are really nice & for sale at the counter. The raisin bread toast is also very good. You are close enough to Phoenix to visit one sometime. NTW, the one at Exit 129 is the westernmost Waffle House in the US. They are not in California because of how much land costs in this state. Great reaction from you. This is southern comfort food that is a treat not to be missed.
Back in the day, in Dallas it was Steak and Eggs where we would go after clubbing. It was always entertaining as the Ladies of the night and all of us tipsy dancers would saddle up to some hash browns and scrambled eggs before attempting the drive home. Always an experience!
At the Waffle House Restaurants located here in Trumbull County, Ohio (near Pennsylvania), they have Hi-C Fruit Punch available, if you do not want to drink coffee ( which is very good), tea, or soda pop. Milk and orange juice is also available on the beverage section of the menu.
I love Jolly, their videos are great! Wherever you live, there is probably a Waffle House that is within reasonable driving distance. When I used to drive across the country, Waffle House was one of the places I would stop because I always knew that the food would be good.
You know the Brit loves it when he's okay with taking a bite of the sausage that the other guy just wrapped his mouth around!! 😂😂 Even though I love me some good southern Waffle House, I can't help but feel disgusted knowing the foods we consume in America! Now pass me the diabetic syrup please! 🤣🤣
Growing up in the South in the 60s and 70s there were many places to get a traditional cafe type breakfast--today places like that are hard to find. That is one of the reason why I love Waffle House. Actually the food in my opinion is quite good.
All Star Special is the bomb! Waffle, Eggs, Hash browns, Bacon, Toast. I live in the South and grew up eating at Waffle House. You might have to fight your way out after you eat, but it’s worth it. 😂

Every weekend after a gig, two or three of us would hit a dennys around 3am, and would stay until the sun came up. Great drunk food, great drunks show.
I'm from Chicago, and I would have to drive 3 hours into Indiana to get to a Waffle House. Now that I'm in North Carolina, I've got 6 right in my city. The closest one is 5 minutes away from me. I've only eaten there twice in over a year.

When I was moving from up north to Florida I stopped to eat at a Waffle House and they gave me an unfamiliar food as part of breakfast. It took a minute to figure out it was grits lol.
FYI, Waffle Houses are not limited to Atlanta. There are almost 2000 locations in 25 states. There's 15 restaurants in Arizona, the western most locations in the country. Their patty melts and hash browns are almost as famous as their waffles. Don't forget to smother, cover, chunk, diced, peppered, capped, topped, or country your has browns...
I'm from Alabama so I've had my fair share of Waffle House, I've never ordered a waffle there. I can crush a triple order of smothered and topped hash browns though
We have a waffle house approximately 7 to 8 miles from our house and surprisingly the few times that we go in the evening. It’s not very busy but the food is good and we do limit herself to approximately once a month even though I’m pretty sure my husband would be glad if we did it once a week.
One year, when I worked on Christmas at a site with a Waffle House Restaurant along the way, I went there after work, and had a a T-Bone Steak meal for my Christmas dinner.
my 5 yr old daughter's favorite place is Waffle House. i love the Texas cheesesteak melt with bacon, hashbrowns with cheese and onions or sometimes just gravy on them. my 12 yr old gets the hashbrown bowl and puts gravy on it sometimes. my 5 yr old daughter loves the bacon, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns. my grandma would take me every christmas eve morning to Waffle House to eat. she passed away 6-6-11 . so now my mom, me and my kids go every christmas eve morning to waffle house. the only way my 12 yr old daughter will eat scrambled eggs at home are with cheese and real bacon bits.
A genuine Waffle House experience. They even brought their own drunk, I love it!!😅
I've been working 3rd shift at Waffle House for 23 years now. Trust me, ain't much I haven't seen. Fights, robberies, male and female body parts, kangaroos, missed a mass shooting by 2 miles.

Jolly is such a breath of fresh air from the polluted social media.
Waffle House isn't just in ATL. It's ALL OVER the South. I'm a GA native, and they're about as ubiquitous as Starbucks in California.
it's also crap... would rather eat 15 day old sushi off of a gas station toilet seat... bloody awful food

Man, in the South, we have as many Waffle Houses as we do Starbucks!
We do have Waffle House in PA just not enough.
We have more… here in Chattanooga TN there is a Waffle House you can sit in and see another one down the street
