"Dancing Queen" is a Europop song by the Swedish group ABBA, released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, Arrival. Dancing Queen" was released as a single in Sweden on 15 August 1976. Musically, "Dancing Queen" is a Europop version of American disco music.[
There is a good argument for ABBA being the best pop group of all time. Almost every single was a smash hit, and albums were full of great songs. Also their sound changed alot over the 11 years of their history between 1972-1983. Alot of their early sound was closer to glam rock, them pop and disco in the period 1975-1979 then they evolved again between 1980-1983.
That lady needs definitely a dance floor. Nice reaction, ABBA was massive at the 70s and early 80s, there tour through Australia was impressive, so many fans came to watch them. Pure pop perfection, plain and simple. The string segment is just the coolest and most heartwarming thing. Take it from another old rocker; ABBA is a gift to humanity.
The 70's was an amazing decade for music. Multiple talented artists across a whole spectrum of genres. ABBA were and still are a phenonoma in their own right.

If u listen to Abba records chronologically, u can hear the progression of their sound and the technology they used from 1972 until 1982. Start with early Abba songs like - 'Ring ring' ... 'Waterloo' ... "I do, I do, I do, I do, I do". Then, then first major hits - 'S.O..S.' ... 'Fernando' ... 'When I kissed the teacher' ... 'The name of the game'. Late 70's disco & new wave pop era songs - 'Voulez vous' ... 'Chiquitita' ... 'Lay all your love on me' ... 'Sumer night city'. And finally, their last singles - 'One of us' ... 'Head over heels' ... They became really popular in the 70s with lots of hits and then their songs became popular again after being in the soundtrack for Paul Hogan's film Muriel's Wedding in 1994...a very funny, quirky movie for sure.
ABBA never stopped being popular in Europe, not sure about the rest of the world. I would say that Muriel's Wedding got the limited success it did because of the ABBA soundtrack. Apart from in Australia, Muriel's Wedding wasn't a box office success (doesn't even feature in the top 100 global box office films of that year). Having lived through the whole ABBA era to date I can't remember when ABBA weren't popular, and have never seen Muriel's Wedding.
