I've been meaning to do an update on my emergency tool kit video. I have seen other people use the service lid for storing the tools. It's a pretty good idea. I recommend reusable zip ties to make it a lot easier. What's the model of the jump starter you are using?
Ive thought about rigging it with a latch like any other car. Looking for a solition to not have to unscrew the bolts . Maybe something that is 3d printed. Or even drilling a latch on the side of the hood like a jeep. Maybe mafnetic
I'm not even a Fisker Ocean owner yet I feel sorry for all those owners that are left in the dark not knowing what to do. Glad to see Ocean 1 trying to make the best of things and educate the community.
i know this is not a an investment video, but i wanted to point that in your previous videos you mentioned Cha p11 would be a better option for the owners than Chap 7 and that seems to be where we are heading to with fisker, just wanted to point out after a long time finally a news is more on the positive side than negative, lets hope a restructuring will happen and company survives
What you did will work but I think my approach would be to connect a SAE battery connector to the battery, feed the cable to the removable panel and then the battery could be boosted without opening the hood.
Great video, thank you! I've had that front trim off a dozen or more times and it never occurred to me to just jam my fingers in there and yank it off. I'll have to give that a go next time!
@@shivpalvansadia9152 yeah, any jump pack would do. I got that one awhile back off eBay I think. Just pick up something with good reviews off Amazon. It won't need a lot of power But I am unsure how little you can go.
I absolutely thought of that. I just didn't trust it enough. I actually put a lock blade utility knife in the front fascia along with one in the rear. It's a solid idea though 🤝👍
I heard yesterday that there is already some type of Fisker group of owners set up to keep these nice SUVs running after Henrik and Geeta burn in H.LL. Either way I think with guys like you parts can be modified/fabricated etc
Great out of the box thinking - will follow you insight. Question would it be possible to put trickle charge leads on the 12 volt and run to the outside of the car, like we do on older cars. Then could keep it charged? Thanks
I am not even sure. It would be overkill for the Ocean though. Any jump kit would jump start the Ocean. Just get one from Amazon with good reviews. I got mine off eBay a while back
Rather than all this, I just ran some high gauge cables (suitable for jumping current) to a 50A quick connect plug that is accessible behind the bumper. So I can either connect a battery maintenance charger to the plug, or worst case if the battery is dead, a jump pack to it without ever opening the hood.
That's why I like my solution. I don't have to rely on finding some random stranger, looking for jumper cables, jump packs, tools...everything is accessible in a pinch even if I locked up my phone in the car or something. My point in my video is to be able to handle the situation without any help from someone else.

I guess if you combined our solutions you could save a load of work not having to open the hood. You’d just need to store the jump pack somewhere other than under the hood and plug it in.
Opening the hood isn't hard at all. Finding a place to store a jump pack isn't easy. I did consider storing the tools and jump pack in the rear where the tow hitch is. I just wasn't comfortable with it. I felt like where I put everything was the best solution. I did zip tie a folding lock back utility knife back there, lol. Just in case.
Why can't you run and external cable from the battery behind there with two end caps You can unscrew them and just hook up the cables to two wires with covered ends?
So the trick is how to prevent a 12v failure. I am guessing that many owners still experience a failure of the HV battery to give the 12v its needed daily suckle. Or the systems are quickly draining the 12v and again there is a poor software managing the feed from HV to 12v. So far on 2.1 and even when I was on 2.0 my 12v has been working ok. But I need to monitor it by inserting a 12v reader / ODB scanner But like your thinking when it comes to getting access to the engine bay 👍😎
Shame that Henrik did not forsee how to access the car in the event of a 12v/ electronic failure. Tunnel vision. All cars should have a physical key as a backup to at least get into the car. Oh well.......... we march on 🫡 Appreciate you putting your time into these videos... I only see you and Ocean Views on You tube keeping the Fisker community alive. Much kudos! Hope to see more passionate Tubers/owners coming out 😎🙏
Is the 12v battery going dead a common issue? It only happened to me once when I got the faulty 2.0 update. But no issues since I got the software resolved.
I had a 12v battery die with the car closed. I changed the battery, but the car does not open, and the system does not turn on and does not see the key. What do I do?
@@СтанМах wow so sorry about that. What I would try if I were you is I would actually try to boost it. Boosting it should rule out any loose connections or a possible bad battery. Other than that though I can't really think of anything at all. If that doesn't work your best bet would be to reach out to one of the service centers or try to find a tech. I'm sure you have tried everything with the key fob including the NFC reader so the only thing I can think of is to try to boost it and go from there
Not sure what to do w the car to be honest. If no one can fix it I’m not sure if just going bankrupt or letting bank seize the vehicle is the way to go. Honestly at a loss of words. Car is awesome but I have a family to support have ti be able to make it to work…not sure what the right play is. The car is worth a quarter of what I owe now
I understand. Selling it isn't a great option. Trading it in isn't a great option as most of us (myself included) are upside down by a lot. My plan is to just drive the daylights out of it and hope for the best.
Do not mount lithium battery devices to a radiator, this is very bad advice... You should have a 12v line from the main battery, you can take the power from there.
Appreciate your engineering “know how”…..
Agreed, we have to band together for solutions!
Genius idea! And here I was walking around with a screwdriver taped to my leg every day
@@davidbrownstein1294 😆😂
That was a well thought out approach to solve an engineering design flaw that shouldn't exist in the first place.

I have the same jump starter. Different name, same Chinese manufacturer 😂

If you asked Fisker, they wouldnt reply haha... thanks for the ideas though! Gotta copy some of this for my own emergency kit.

Can you add a link to the UTRAI jump starter that you use? Thanks, great videos.

the main concern with storage under the hood is the possibility of a fire should the battery pack develop a short and begins to heat up and up
Yeah, but the whole car is a big battery 🔋😆
Great idea!
Can you show the actual connections from the jumper to the battery in another video?
Not needed. You simply connect the jumper to the positive and the neutral to ground (not the ground battery terminal)
Long time no chat my friend! I guess im wondering what can be done for owners to PREVENT a dead 12 volt in the first place?
Nothing really. Just lock the doors. Keep the car plugged in. That's about it.
@Ocean1_FSR I may not always keep my Ocean "plugged in", but I do try and make sure it is always well charged (between 50-80% at all times)

Such a stupid design to open the hood. Henrik you shouldn’t even be designing anymore at this point.
