Looks super capable! My Ascent 18 plan doesn't involve turning it into a mega crawler, but if it did, I'd be eyeing this chassis. I see a couple comments on cost; I wonder if Mr. Orange would consider lower cost materials like G10 and aluminum rather than carbon fiber and titanium...
Looks great, Matt, too bad you couldn’t come to Michigan for the Great Lakes gauntlet at Walters RC Park that’s where I’m heading tomorrow morning 7 AM camping for three days and tiny trucking. Yeah always a great time there.
Yeah i gotta say this chassis seems awesome! great skid angle for good break over and and keeping all the weight way down low and the quality seems really good. Appreciate the video!
This is sweet! Was actually thinking of trying to design something similar for a flat chassis (for scx24’s/trx4m/ascent18/fcx18) where the front section comes up to under the hood of the body so no worries about servo clearances. But orange has done it and it looks great! Wish they made a carbon fiber version of it! I’m gonna wait for a carbon version for sure before I buy. I don’t want that extra weight of the titanium.
Damn I wish I lived closer to you. I'd love to do a side by side comparison with what I feel like is a dialed stock chassis A18, I don't run the stock body and I have stretched my WB to 155mm.
@@Steve_J81 I bet that stretch makes a huge difference! I had a stock chassis pretty dialed early on. Cut the front end off of it and it ran great. Swapped it for the scx24 chassis though lol
I still don't understand why companies don't capitalize on hardbody builds. A chassis kit, and body mounts, hardbody.. Sold as a kit. Leaf options with the kit. They are missing out.. everything is usually twice the cost buying this, buying that.. then buying this.. Ya it's fun but, I don't know.. just surprised no one has figured that out yet. 🤷♂️
That’s how several of my crawlers have ended up. Especially scx24s. But if I built the stock one back up, I’d have to start modding it too. Would be a circle of doom before long.
@@2fmrccorrect me if I’m wrong but injora shocks follow a traditional design which from my findings gives you more up travel (better stability) than the limited travel of the redcat shocks
@@zaydherrera yeah they do. I just normally end up limiting my shocks anyway so feel like I have plenty flex with these. They haven’t leaked on me yet either so I just haven’t bothered swapping them. The injoras are great shocks though! I think I have some nexx racing shocks on the way so I may check those out soon.
How are mounting those Louise tires on beadlock wheels? The set I have seems to have a huge beadlock ring like stock Trx4m tires and they just don’t seem to fit on any wheels I have and I have a lot of wheels
Mmm I don’t own one… yet but honestly I’m just not digging the 3 piece chassis tho. But it does look sick tho. It’s just that 3pice chassis Squirrel!! 🐿️
What else have they done are they approving company you got to understand take Mass designs cheat code he was like the first to do it you know in like he's been doing it for a long time so people don't have a problem with paying 80 bucks for his chassis we know it's very high-end stuff we know that it's very capable if you're just coming on the seen how the hell you going to offer a chassis for a hundred bucks
So many posts recently. Love it!!
@@24crawlin glad to know I’m not annoying you with them lol
@@2fmrcis this chassis direct swap over for the ascent 18?
@@Shaun0169 yep. Only thing you’ll have to mod is glueing magnets on the body or swapping to a new one.
Thats a really great looking chassis Im probably going to order one soon for mine!

Ordered mine the day they dropped on eBay definitely worth the price and it turns the ascent18 into a rock crawling animal
It runs just like my Lowered VRD Carbon.
Crazy!!
Great video. Thanks, Matt!
$100 😮 Ain't no way

What was needed to make the stretch?
The only thing left on mine that’s still original are the portal gears, axles, esc, and body. 😅

Can you lower the shocks, so it doesn't sit as low? Would help the belly and allow more dropout for breakover too.
