My children who are now 29 and 32 love this song. We used to play it in the car on the way to our holiday in Devon. Mike Oldfield isn't just for Christmas he's for all seasons
Born 1970, so aged five here and not long at infant school then. I have a very good memory for tunes and possess perfect pitch! This song is in C major.
Christmas songs needn't be tacky, cheesy, commercial, jingle bell tinged nonsense and here's the proof. A stunningly crafted and played, truly magical slice of festive fare from the genius himself. Thank you, Mike, for all the Christmasses of mine you enhanced over the years. :)

For those who are interested, Mike is playing the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, synthesiser and tambourine parts. Les Penning is playing the wind instruments (two recorders and a kortholt) and William Murray is playing the snare drum.
Yep.. there is a bit of perpetuating a self-made myth and image of Oldfield being a pioneering multi-instrumentalist, who did everything himself, and played it all by multi-tracking., All credit to the contributing musicians who didn't get a look in with the videos.

Definitely a Christmas song. I used to skip around the living room with a small child on each arm [yes. my children!]. We laughed so much it hurt. Seems like yesterday. They are now grown men but I bet I could still do it. I'll try on Xmas Day. Time flies.
Back in 1975 I was spragging school to earn some extra money for Christmas by plucking Turkeys on a local farm in Lincolnshire with the radio on all day to keep us company and this was in the charts and always takes me back to that time!

Mike Oldfield has more talent in his little finger than most musicians today have in their body.
Millions of talented musicians out there with Mike 😊
@johnbatch9276 True enough, but they are all denied their platform by the endless wall of formulaic crap that constitutes popular music nowadays.
Absolutly. Talent an originality are in short supply today.
