nope, believing or not beliving in a certain religion does not improve or diminish human abilitiy of singing great songs. Even those English do with their basicallically hearetical church (if you argue based on catholic doctrine). So please keep out religion altogether.
Save this choir with all its traditions! Nothing wrong with a traditional all male voice choir!! It's special and should remain so ❤️❤️ Thank you for the lovely carols. Merry Christmas to you all 🎶👏👏❤️
i remember my boyhood and the joy of singing with my friends as a chorister. The effortless soaring to the high notes. Great shame that more boys are not taught to use their boys voices which only last such a short time.
@@deesballoons9506 I am sure you are a good person and sincere in your intentions. How wonderful it would be if love was available simply for the asking. My experience leads mr to believe that love, just like respect is earned.
@@buffster948 Just in case you thought otherwise, modern choristers simply sing until their voices break and aren't castrated to prevent that from happening
Superlatives simply do not do justice to describing the sublime experience of listening at home to this choir's performance on Christmas Eve. Many thanks for the unforgettable experience.
This arrangement of “In dulci jubilo” by Pearsall (now Hyde too) has long been one of my favorite choral pieces. This is an excellent performance, and I’m impressed that the choir is singing more from memory than from the score. The last verse is very complex and in multiple parts. Performances of this under the previous and late director Stephen Cleobury were uneven. Hyde is going to take this choir to even greater heights.
@@edwardjones4870 Indeed, we can, and should strive, for it. Otherwise, we wouldn't have the beautiful music we so enjoy, the great architecture which amazes us, the scientific breakthroughs that enable us to live longer and healthier, the incredible inventions that make hard work so much easier and more work achievable ... the list goes on, along with our pursuit of excellence.
I have listened to those layers at the end so many times!! It’s so perfect and beautiful!! The tenors and Altos Wow! And those young boys!! No words! What creativity!! Hyde thank you! It’s Magnificent!!
A masterful rendition. A director who has trained a group of young musicians to perfection. He has complete confidence in these fine young people. Thank you and a Happy Christmas to all at Kings. Must go, someone is chopping onions I think and I am leaking again. Jesus is Lord. Happy birthday Master.
This is so beautiful…Christ came to save us from nihilism and division and DEATH… and to bring us into the eternal Heavenly bliss of perfect and overwhelming love! May we who hear this truly honor Him by how this beautiful music overwhelms and inspires us to love God, ourselves and our neighbors 💖🙏🕊️
Absolutely stunning performance under the difficult to photograph and difficult to sonically 'grasp' conditions of a medieval chapel (so many other famous choirs go down in the attempt). Thank you so much, this brought tears of joy to my eyes!
@@spoffspoffington My comment had nothing to do with filthy lucre or mammon. It was referring to the price of effort, dedication, commitment and devotion to the task at hand. Nothing to do with monetary value.
I remembered my time in my church choir, we changed and sang beautiful spiritual songs and hymns. Also sang with the "y" choral & group with the Orchestra! Awesome, I'm reminded.
I join with the positive comments and reactions posted here. Under any circumstances, this choir and its current director were doing wonderful things in 2021 even with closures, illness, etc. This recording is phenomenal. But unlike most I suspect, I read the KCC notes posted below the video. This was a track from what was then a new album. If you know how albums of music, even sacred music are polished and touched up in the recording studio, you know you're hearing both wonderful talent and skill but a little massaging of the sound as well. This was perfection, but with a touch, however small, of studio smoothing. Of course they are wonderful in any case.
Tradition has it that in 1328 Suso one night had a vision of angels dancing and singing and he was taken by the hand and joined them singing and dancing as a sign of adoration and sang a song to the Child Jesus which began with Nun singet und seid froh or In Dulci Jubilo.
Please everyone remind: you are beautiful just the way you are or want to be. Pls just take feedback wich is fair, not wich destroys you. Your appearance isn't more important than your skills/personality. Speak out what you think it's important. Don't give up on what you want to do or what you want to be, work hard for it but use your intelligence. Don't let mistakes control your life, learn from them and make it better the next time. Search for true friends not just popularity and always have fun! Who knows when you can laught again the next time? Keep going, bad things going away but sometimes they just need some time. For those interested in an alternative interpretation, here is the performance from King's College last year in the BBC Broadcast on Christmas Eve 2020. This performance follows the more usual approach with a tenor solo, and on this occasion the gentlemen scholars were replaced by The King's Singers due to Covid regulations at that time: ruclips.net/video/Xoc-TbVxXBc/видео.html
I've never heard this tune with these words. I have always heard this tune with the words "Good Christian men rejoice, with heart and soul and voice", etc.
It may come as a shock to the millions around the world for whom Christmas isn't complete without King's Festival of Lessons & Carols ... but factions in the UK, especially at Cambridge & Oxford, won't rest until the last traditional Anglo-Catholic mens' and boys' choirs are destroyed - even though the vast majority of the universities' choral ensembles are mixed-gender. Kings College Choir's Cambridge peer - the venerable Choir of St John's College as of next year will become a women's, girls', men's, and boys' chorus - throwing away more than 500 years of institutional continuity. A tiny handful of these traditional choirs survive, able to sing centuries of church music with the tonalities and spirit composers intended. Let's pray King's College Choir is not the next victim of the culture vandals. Give this extraordinary ensemble your support!
@Helen Wilks It's unlikely that the choral tradition at King's will change. The choir was set up and fully operational by 1449, and has been the same ever since. The original statutes of King's College set up by King Henry VI stipulate sixteen male choristers sing in the choir. Any changes to the composition would require appropriate legislation. Also King's College is not 'Anglo-Catholic'. The services follow the general ethos of the services of the Church of England under licence from the Bishop of Ely, and I would not describe these as 'Anglo-Catholic'.
I agree with ds1868 in that King Henry VI stipulated in a royal charter to have only 16 male Choiristers Also the King's College Chapel iassociate s not a Anglican Church governed by the Church of Englsnd like many cathedrals etc with the same regulations etc It is a associate place of worship under auspices of the bishop responsible for King's College Choir etc
They have their own web site, this year's full video went up two days ago.. Maybe a better idea would be visit an evensong. They sing several times a week and the chapel is less crowdwd,, you would have a better chance to see something (hearing the sound is fine all around the chapel)
How even the non-believers may sink to their knees when hearing this beauty - may all the world rejoice, and peace follow.
